This week, we are talking about SPRING!!!! (all caps and exclamation points necessary).

We don’t really get much spring here in the Sunshine State. We go from pretty chilly winter straight into summer. There will be maybe a week or two of pretty, pleasant, actual spring, but it’s short-lived.

We have to enjoy it while we can.

So, without further ado, my five favorite things about Spring.

1. It’s time for little man’s birthday!

Yup. Spring means that we get to celebrate our favorite guy!

He will turn seven this April. I have no idea where time has gone, but we are so excited to surprise him with big birthday plans. He’s going to flip!

2. Rita’s is open for business!

I love ice cream, but I love frozen custard even more. Probably because Rita’s closes for the winter and I have time to build up all my cravings. A cup of vanilla and chocolate swirl with chocolate sprinkles, please.

3. Getting to enjoy our view.

Sitting outside to watch the sunset with a cocktail and some good music is definitely a hit.

4. Planning summer vacation.

I love to plan just about everything, so it’s nice to be able to sit down and work out exactly how we are going to spend the months of summer before school starts back up. We have a few ideas on what we’d like to do, but it’s about time to start confirming and nailing things down.

5. Spring flowers!

I have a pretty tragic brown thumb, so I love this time of year when flowers are pretty much blooming everywhere and I don’t have to worry about keeping them alive and thriving.

What are your five favorite things about spring?

Awww, happy birthday to the little man! I hope he has the most wonderful birthday!
Oh man do I miss Rita’s mint chocolate chip gelato with vanilla cream haha. That was the story of my Summer for so many years. Four of my friends worked there is high school, and my dance studio moved right behind the one in St. Augustine junior year…. that was a very bad thing 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

My Mother used to make homemade custard when I was little. Most people have never tried it. Yummy! When you are taking a trip, planning is part of the FUN. Happy Birthday to the little man!

In flight? You know it! I’m adjusting my schedu In flight? You know it!

I’m adjusting my schedule a little bit. Right now, I just can’t get up as early as I would like, but that’s ok. Things can be shuffled and rearranged.

Additionally, I rescued a big dog this morning with another neighbor. I heard galloping behind me as I was heading home and was almost tackled by a huge doodle-type. Between us, we were able to call the microchip service and get his address and she went to notify the owner. He wasn’t a good walker and he even knocked me down (very slowly and dramatically) while I held him and waited. He is home safe and sound and I’m wondering how many people carry leashes with them on the run just in case this happens. This is my second rescue in a few weeks. It’s becoming a thing.

Any plans this weekend? Any dog rescues while running?

Solid five miles this morning. I just started the strength training plan I won from @kimrunsthemitten so I was a little sore but I think the frosty air was good for my muscles.

It’s promising to be a pretty day so fingers crossed for more outdoors time!

It’s a beautiful weekend for the #staugfilmfest! It’s a beautiful weekend for the #staugfilmfest! We saw @tiger24film, presented by @staugalligatorfarm at the Lewis Auditorium, and it was truly an incredible and thought provoking documentary on the tenuous balance between wild animals in their natural habitat, humans, and the consequences that occur when the two come together.

There is still plenty of time to check out screenings at three locations this afternoon and evening! Visit https://www.staugfilmfest.com for ticket details!
