friday five – favorite blogs

April 24, 2015      31 Comments

Since it’s Friday, we are linking up for the Friday Five, with three awesome DC area bloggers: Mary at Mar On the Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up For What?! and Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC.  Feel free to join the fun with your own Friday Five post and be sure to visit and comment on the other blogs on the linkup!

DC_linkup

Today, we are talking about our Five Favorite Blogs.

This is a great way to share our favorites and discover new blogs in the process. I have too many to count, so let’s see if I can narrow it down.

1. A Mom On The Run

Kristin is a great friend of mine, but I love her blog. She shares a lot on running and family, and she’s always got some great recipes to share.

2. Amateur At Large

Stacie and I share a love of running, horses and pugs. She also has great fashion sense and I often joke that I neeeeeed her to come visit me and take me shopping. I am hopeful that we will get to see each other at a race one day. We did run last year’s Virtual Pug Run “together” last year, so I will have to see if we can do another virtual in 2015.

3. Candy Crazed Run

Anne is awesome! She used to live in my town, so we have some local knowledge in common. An amazing runner, I love reading her race reports and food posts. We got to meet up at the Gate River Run this year, but only for a few minutes, and I hope we run into each other again in the future.

4. Deb Runs

I have been reading Deb’s blog since I started writing about running. I love her weekly updates, her goals and her race reports. She’s a fun and informative read!

5. My ZOOMA Florida bloggers!

Ok, so maybe this is cheating a little, but these ladies are so inspiring and I really love keeping up with them.

Meghan on the Move – Meghan and I share a love of dogs and crafts and cupcakes. And running. I kind of wish she lived closer, but it just gives me an excuse to travel for more races.

Tutus and Tennies – MB has the most amazing smile and so much enthusiasm. I love following her progress and seeing all the fun races she runs.

The Food Bitch Blog – I can always relate to Devon’s somewhat irreverent sense of humor. She is an amazing cook, a very talented runner and always knows the best hot spots in town. We are trying to make an effort to hang out more.

Mommy Runs It – Sharon is a fellow Galloway interval runner. We are working on getting her out to more local races, and setting up some group runs.

Run Happy – Char provides great workouts and lots of awesome vegan recipes. Her family is adorable and I enjoy keeping up with all the fun things they do.

Crazy Running Legs – I love Michelle’s energy and perspective. She definitely keeps it real with fitting everything into her busy schedule and it’s great checking in with her to see where she’s at.

There are so many more awesome blogs out there – I read and engage with some truly wonderful writers, runners and parents on a regular basis. I also love getting to discover new blog through exercises like this, so I’m looking forward to finding some new greats to add to my reader!

What are your favorite blogs to follow? List some of them in the comments or write your own blog post on the subject and link back to the Friday Five!

You’re so sweet <3 I laugh every time I think about you telling the Marine Corps half story and your "what is this fresh hell?!" reaction to me running up 🙂

Also, I want in on the Galloway Group runs! I haven't completely given up running straight through, but I'm mostly doing Galloway these days… or I was before I got attacked by a sinus infection.

LOL! That was one of the highlights of a really crappy race.

It’s not an official group but I promise that once the next three weeks are over and done with, we will get a date for a run. It will be nice to do.

I will be back in Orlando. There are some really fun races down there, and I intend to run so many of them!

Let’s talk about balance. Balance is an area wh Let’s talk about balance.

Balance is an area where I sometimes struggle, physically and emotionally. It can be a challenge to fit in all the things I want and all the things I need. I don’t always love doing the mundane or tedious tasks that ultimately lead to the foundations of the things I am more passionate about.

I am taking a little more time to build on the basics, and find my balance. It’s going to lead to a healthier and happier me.

How do you find your balance? Do you struggle with the basics?

Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run.

I worked through some cardio under the blue skies and in the fresh air and then came home to @runsmartofficial’s base building boot camp.

There was A LOT of focus on balance and feet and ankles, as well as ground work in the form of different planks and push-ups.

The movements were small but effective and my legs are certainly burning! It’s going to get harder as we go, but I’m excited to spend more time on my stability and form, to see if it makes me stronger and more efficient over time.

What was on your workout calendar today?

This morning, I started on a new training plan wit This morning, I started on a new training plan with @runsmartofficial. I have a goal race in May, so I am going to see if I can make some improvements along the way.

I can admit that I am built more for distance than speed, but I am taking a crack and improving my pace over the next ten weeks. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏻!

Anyone else starting a new training plan and cycle?

Congratulations to the @staugalligatorfarm for another fantastic event. It was a beautiful morning, with lots of enthusiastic runners and walkers, and we were so happy to be there.

A portion of proceeds went to benefit Orianne Center for Indigo Snake Conservation (OCIC) and AZA Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE), partnering to celebrate Eastern indigo snakes, which makes the race even more important.

Come take a peek at how the morning went and head over to the blog to read more about it! (Link in bio) https://runswithpugs.com/2023/03/15/race-report-raptor-run-3k/
