It’s the last Friday of the month, which means it’s time for Runfessions with Marcia’s Healthy Slice!
I don’t often get to participate in this link-up, but the stars aligned today, and here we are.
Runfession: I need to replace some shoes.
I have a really nice rotation of three pairs of shoes going right now, and I don’t want to I’ve any of them up, even for the purposes of replacement.
I am hoping that the Run Rock ‘n’ Roll themed Adrenalines will make it to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Half Marathon weekend, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that the Supernova STs will go all the way to the Space Coast Half Marathon after Thanksgiving. It’s ridiculous (and a little unwise) that I can’t bring myself to upgrade, but I am at such a sweet spot with them all and I hate messing with that.
Runfession: I have failed at cross-training this year.
I had a lot of goals in regards to cross-training and I have let them get away from me. I’m annoyed with myself, but I also need sleep. Mr PugRunner is working a lot of extra hours due to some evolution and development in his business and so I don’t have as much backup around the house. I am already waking up before 5AM three days a week to run; I can’t bear the thought of adding two more crazy early mornings for boot camp or similar. I need to get it figured out because I know it would improve my strength and stamina and be good for my body and mental health, but it’s just not working right now.
Runfession: I miss running blogging.
Adjusting to a new schedule where I balance, home, work, writing, PTA and Scouts means I have less time for my blogging. I try really hard to get out a weekly wrap post on the regular, but I am way behind on race reports, cute photos and the fun stuff that I love about blogging. I also miss the community and the interaction I have had in the past. Everything goes in cycles of course, but I feel like something is missing from my writing life and I need to get that back.
Runfession: I am pondering a new challenge.
Even though I am excited to try for a race in 50 states, I have my eye on the Run DONNA Booby Trap Challenge in February.
It’s kind of pricey, but the money goes to a great cause, so I am trying to see if I can justify it in the budget. The challenge requires a back-to-back 5K and 10K on Saturday, followed by the Half or Full Marathon on Sunday. I would obviously go for the half. Usually, by February, I am all done with the 13.1 distance, but my miles have been going well the last few months, and I think I could manage it, especially in the parameters of a race like DONNA and if I can wrangle a few friends into joining in the fun.
What do you have to runfess this month?
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
We all go through phases of feeling overwhelmed and over committed. You will find your place again! You all do keep very busy over there!

We do indeed stay busy. I like it but right now, my head is spinning!
Marcia says
I’ve noticed your absence on the interwebs and I totally get it. It’s tough to do it all for sure. Booby Trap Challenge. What a great name! 😀
runswithpugs says
<3 I love the name. If you run the Booby Trap and some of the Gasparilla races in Tampa the next weekend, you can make it The Treasured Chest Challenge. Talk about bling and bragging rights?
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
It is hard to juggle it all and you have been really busy. I’ve cut way back on my blogging … as you said, things go in cycles. I’ve been thinking about taking on a new challenge too – that Booby Trap sounds like a good one!

Blogging is a hard one for me to drop back on – I just love the writing part so much 🙁
Kimberly Hatting says
Juggling everything is tough! We’re down to the last kid left in the house, and I’m having a tough time keeping the house (moderately) clean. I work part time outside the home (approx. 30 hours/week), and still can’t get everything done…and I DO get up most mornings around 5:00A.M. LOL Life is crazy!

The house is clean, but I do need to do a grand purge/declutter and I have no idea when that’s going to happen. I am also part time outside the home – it’s all the extracurriculars that are getting me. I need more hours in a day.
Rachel says
You should definitely do the race in February if you can swing it. Plus having a February half will keep your motivation up!

Enabler! I think I can swing it – it will mean dropping back on a different challenge I was looking at, but that’s ok. You can’t do them all. I have the Gate River Run 15K in March, so my distance will still be there. I guess we will see what happens.
Kimberly G says
It’s definitely hard to juggle it all. I often feel like one week I have it figured out, only to fail at balancing it all he next week lol

I feel like I’m constantly bargaining with myself: If I can just get through this week, things will calm down. It never works. Sigh.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I feel you on the overwhelmed thing. I don’t want to give up my blog. But I feel that maybe I should cut back. Life is so full right now! Ayyyy!

So very full! Which is always a good thing, but it can be so hard.

My time for blogging has shrunk too, and I do miss it. I try to keep up with the social aspects but miss the reflection that goes into other types of posts.
That race event sounds quite challenging!
runswithpugs says
I miss all of that as well. It’s such a big part of my sanity and it’s been hard to stay focused without it.

I runfess that I can’t get rid of “retired” running shoes and they are piling up in my house! I’m not blogging much these days and have been toying with the idea for over a year now to give it up. I just keep hanging on by a thread.
runswithpugs says
Oh, that’s a good one! I just donated a bunch to hurricane relief efforts, so that was a a good way to go.

I think you do an amazing job of juggling everything. Hope you have a really great October!

Thanks! I’m trying hard to keep it all together.

It’s good to have you back, even for a post! It can be hard to keep up with everything sometimes. You gotta do the whole life thing first!
runswithpugs says
I’m trying to be present in the internet space but it’s tough. I plan to work harder at staying here.

I too miss my old regular blogging routine. There’s just so much going on, and its taken away from my time for blogging. I’m not sure that I’ll ever be able to find all of the time again, but all I can ask of myself is that I do my best.
