It’s the last Friday of the month, which means it’s time for Runfessions with Marcia’s Healthy Slice!
Let’s get started:
I runfess that I am so freaking excited about the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon’s Particpant Gift.
Every year, in lieu of a race shirt, the Publix Savannah Women’s Half offers a participant gift. I generally rarely wear race shirts (they are either for errands/cleaning, or I make them into a souvenir blanket), so I love getting something different. This year, the gift is a New Balance backpack! I love it and I can’t wait to be seen parading it through the streets of Savannah in a few weeks. Want one of your own? Register here with code PUGS18 and save 15% on the half or 5k!
I runfess that I need to be better about balance.
With my crazy schedule and 4:30AM wake-up times, I runfess that I have hermited a bit. I haven’t wanted to go out or do anything that would require being vertical past 9:00. I need to make the effort to compromise more as there are so many fun events going on and I don’t want to miss out on time with friends and family. It was hard getting up for an 8 miler this morning after a hockey game that didn’t get us home til almost midnight, but it was worth it.
I runfess that I am still not doing great with my water intake.
I can’t help it. NUUN makes it so much better, but I am not great about regularly drinking. In fairness, it’s not just water. I neglect a lot of liquids. I need to increase my efforts.
I runfess that I am pretty proud of my training calendar.
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been so consistent in my workouts, and I love filling in the days on Strava. I wish that I was better about sticking with some of the challenges I want to start (hello, burpee challenge), but it is what it is.
I runfess that this year has been a little challenging.
I’m a fairly positive person. I like to focus on the positive – I personally feel that a brighter outlook helps me deal with everything better. Sometimes, though, it’s just hard to hold it together for everyone. That being said, I am very grateful for the village we have around us and for my little tribe. Support is everything and we have more of that than ever.
Last, but not least, congratulations to Stacie S, the winner of the Publix gift card! Thanks to everyone for entering!
What do you have to runfess?
How has your year been so far?

That backpack is awesome!
I have no idea how you do 4:30 am on the regular. I wouldn’t be alive after 9 pm either. Certainly the short days aid in the hermitting. At least for me. Hope things lighten up for you soon!
I have to runfess that I’m still not back on the running wagon. I need a kick in the pants! (And maybe some running buddies.)

I can’t tell you how many times that Savannah race came up this past weekend at Gasparilla. SO many people wanna run there and that race looks awesome. Great swag indeed!

It is really quite fabulous. The course is awesome, the bling fantastic and I love that it’s a whole destination/weekend event. The expo is lovely, the race and after party is wonderful and on Sunday morning, they hold an outdoor yoga class in one of the squares. It’s nice that they keep the fun going all weekend, instead of just for the duration of the race.
