Happy Valentine’s Day!
So this isn’t my favorite of the days, but I am all about embracing themes and enjoying it! I wore pink and red to physical therapy this morning, and the PTs got a kick out of my festive enthusiasm. In honor of the holiday, here’s are the things I’m loving this Valentine’s Day!
My Guys
I probably don’t say it enough, but Mr PugRunner and little man have been my heroes. Since my accident, they have stepped up in every conceivable way. I am so incredibly spoiled, and I am so grateful for how they have rallied so our household can keep moving forward. Even more touching? I told Mr PugRunner I was said because I still can’t stand long enough to cook, so I wasn’t able to make heart-shaped pancakes for little man’s breakfast. In response, he got up early to make pink pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. It meant the world to me (and little man).
Learning To Advocate For Myself
I’m generally pretty quiet and go-with-the-flow, but on this Valentine’s Day, I spoke up for myself in PT. I have formulated a fairly specific plan to get back to running and racing, and today, I shared it (with my favorite therapist). He did not burst out laughing, nor did he tell me it was out of the question, so that was a plus. Of course, he’s not making any promises, but that’s ok. I’m willing to put in the work to get what I want, and I’m glad he didn’t say it was impossible. I can’t wait to share the specifics with you!
Our Galentine’s Tradition
Galentine’s Day is a Parks and Recreation creation. The main character, Leslie Knope, created this glorious holiday: “What is Galentine’s Day?? Only the best of the year!! Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husband and boyfriends aat home and just come kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies.” And so one of the St. Augustine Moms contributors opened up her home, so we could get together, eat waffles, drink mimosas and celebrate each other. It’s kind of fabulous.
Speaking of Awesome Ladies…
I love that I got to be part of the Sister Site Conference in Orlando last weekend. Usually, I’m a very behind the scenes kind of person, and I’m not good with networking or putting myself out there, so this was way out of my comfort zone. While it was difficult due to my own physical limitations, I met such great, strong women, and feel incredibly rejuvenated for my goals with St. Augustine Moms.
The Hadestown Soundtrack
Since I am absolutely TV-d out, I have moved on to music. I discovered Hadestown a while ago, but I have finally had time to really sit and absorb it. Now, it’s right up there with Hamilton and Les Miserables in my favorites, and I am obsessed with getting up to NYC to see it on Broadway. If you love musical theater, mythology or any combination of the two, give it a listen.
So how about you? What are you loving this Valentine’s Day?

Yay for your guys! I have to admit, Valentine’s Day is not exactly my favorite either. This year, we were at Target a few days before V Day and hubby and I SHOWED each other the cards we would have gotten for each other. Saved $10! 🙂 I love that guy! Loved seeing your Galentine’s celebration. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Advocating for yourself is huge! You are doing a great job of it right now. Always love to find a reason to celebrate the girlfriends in my life 🙂

Galentine’s is the best!

I try to avoid all commercialised celebration days, so we don’t do anything special on Valentines Day. I still love that wonderful gesture of your husband when making pink pancakes! So kind!

Little man really appreciated it. I always try to do special things for him, and it’s hard right now being so limited.

I can only imagine how weary you’ve grown of TV! I feel that way after a day on the couch. Thank goodness there are so many options. I’m glad you’re feeling better and able to do more of the things you love!

I’m soooo over it. I am feeling better and stronger every day. Still frustrated, but getting there.

Are those the Disney skyliners in that picture?
I don’t mind Valentines day, we usually do something fun and it’s a pretty festive day at work too. Those pink pancakes sound amazing. I would love to see a picture! -m

They are! I didn’t ride them (the boys did).
Oh, man, I’ll have to share a picture in an upcoming week. He did a great job.

I’m not that into Valentine’s either, being a spinster and all 😉
But I LOVE a good Galentine’s gathering. A friend of mine hosts every year, and it’s always so fun! We stray from the 13th and just do the Sunday before Valentine’s.
Can’t wait to read about your plan back to running! I’m confident you will achieve your goals this year!

Galentine’s is so fun. I might host one next year for my other core group of friends.
I’m having a small emotional setback this morning, so we shall see how we pull out of it.
