Another week has gone by and things just seem to be spiraling into madness.
Sunday – 3.40 miles, walking
Sundays have been our chill days. Mr PugRunner had some recipes planned for the Big Green Egg, and I just wanted to hang out at home after a nice, easy walk. The humidity is back with a vengeance and I am not here for it. Not one bit.
Monday – 3.69 miles, walking
For the first time in almost seven years, I missed out on the Memorial Day 5K where it all began. There was a virtual version of the event offered, but I knew I wasn’t 5K ready, so I took a pass.
I did go for a long walk and reflect on those who gave their lives for our country.
By the time I got back, the rain had really kicked in, and it continued to rain all day long. We were planning to have a culdesac gathering that evening with neighbors, but it was a rather soggy affair.
On the plus side, I made this delicious drink with UV raspberry vodka, raspberry sherbet and Sprite. It was a hit.
Tuesday – Couch To 5K Week 6 Day 1 (total of 3.65 miles)
Week 6 of Couch to 5K promised some varied workouts. The first day was the typical five minute warm up and cool down, and included three running segments (five minutes, eight minutes, and five minutes) with walk breaks in between.
The run was a mess. I got caught in the rain, my app kept skipping because I had my phone in a holder, and I ended up having to wing most of it.
Needless tot say, I was soaking wet and quite miserable by the time I made it home.
When the weather cleared, we worked on Luna with her leash skills.
Wednesday – 3.85 miles, walking
Another walk on Wednesday. I was thrilled to be able to wear my new Road ID, from the limited edition Cobalt Collection. Safety first! My whole family wears their Road IDs everywhere now, and I’m going to be purchasing a dog ID for Luna shortly (Once she grows into a regular sized leash and harness. She’s so bitty.)
The boys took a drive down to Daytona, hoping to snag a spot on the beach to watch the shuttle launch. The launch was scrubbed but they had a nice afternoon together, anyway.
Thursday – Couch to 5K Week 6 Day 2 (total miles 4.1)
I got up earlier than normal so I could scoot out for Week 6 Day 2. This time it was two ten minute runs, and it actually went really nicely. I was super happy.
Luna had her appointment for vaccinations, so little man and I took her to the vet. Again, it was curbside drop off, which worked out – I hate seeing animals and kids get injections. As a reward, we went to the Starbucks drive-thru for coffee and her first pup cup.
She shared with her brother and sister, too.
Friday – 3.73 miles, walking
Another morning walk.
And then we spent some time teaching Luna to ride a skateboard.
That evening, even though I wanted to do nothing more than lay on the couch, we found a Mr. Softee and got some of the yummiest soft serve.
Saturday – Couch to 5K Week 6 Day 3 (total of 4.23 miles)
Moment of truth: 22 minutes of straight running. Followed by this (super awkward) jump of joy.
Fairly iffy weather made Mr PugRunner not want to venture down for another go at the launch, but that was ok. We had a nice rest of day together, which is always needed.
Goal-getting
This week, I will just keep on keeping on. I’m not really sure what else we can do right now. My heart is broken for George Floyd. And for Ahmaud Arbury. And for so many countless others who have been killed before them. Something has already given, and the floodgates are open. We must do better and be better. We have to listen, hear, see, and stand up. There’s just no other way.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Catrina says
Another great week for the C25K! Well done!
Two 10 minute runs! Sounds like you’re nearly there!
Luna is so sweet! What’s in the Starbucks pup cup? Sounds nice.
runswithpugs says
Thank you! The pup cup is just a cup of whipped cream. Doggos love it!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
High 5 on your quality runs this week! We’ve gone to Cocoa Beach a few times in line with shuttle launches and they always get scrubbed…some day it will work out.

It’s hard to plan for those launches. The slightest hitch will get the whole thing scrubbed. Understandably, of course, but it’s a bummer.
Chaitali says
Those photos of Luna are so adorable! It looks like sheās fitting in nicely :). And great job on those runs this week.
runswithpugs says
It’s going fairly well. The bigs are not thrilled, but we think we have made a breakthrough with Delilah, so fingers crossed.
Kimberly Hatting says
Great job as you continue to ease through the C25K …yes, it does look like you’re easing your way through it š I hope you’re celebrating all of these victories! Luna is such a sweetie…
runswithpugs says
Oh, we are easing soooo slowly LOL. I really am trying to be proud.
Nicole Drinkwater says
Great job this week! All these Luna pictures fill me with joy. She’s so cute!
runswithpugs says
When all else fails, we have puppies, right?
Michelle D. says
Another great C25K week for you! Congrats on 22 straight minutes!
Love the photos of Luna – so cute!
runswithpugs says
Thank you! She is a crazy sweetheart. We just adore her.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Yay, 22 minutes of straight running – go, Jenn, go! I’d be jumping for joy, too!
runswithpugs says
It was a super scary jump LOL! You should have seen the outtakes!
Deborah Brooks says
Another solid week of training for you. Nice job Jenn you are doing so well!
runswithpugs says
Thank you!
Darlene S Cardillo says
22 minutes!!! Whoa. That is awesome.
Love soft ice cream. I’m drooling.
runswithpugs says
I miss those intervals. I’ve got 2.33 weeks left of the program and I think I am going to stick to it. And then we will see how I go.
Soft serve is the best. Mr. Softee is in our football stadium, but they haven’t really had a truck presence here. Now I will hunt them down whenever they are in our community.
Kim G says
That photo of Luna and the pup cup warmed my heart – so cute!
Congrats on 22 minutes of running! That’s so great and proof that you are rocking the C25K program like a champ.
runswithpugs says
And I did 25 yesterday! It’s crazy. I never imagined I would ever be able to do this again.
RenƩe @runlaugheatpie says
you are doing amazing – but I am a broken record on that subject with you! HA!
Luna is so adorable – how do pugs get along with cats? š I so want a pug!
runswithpugs says
So the biggest issue with pugs and cats are eyes and claws. Pugs have those flat faces and protruding eyes, so if a kitty swipes at the pug, it can lead to quite a mess. Pugs don’t have the benefit of a long nose to catch the scratch. However, if they are raised together and taught not to do that…
Marcia says
Bummer they missed the launch. That would’ve been so cool. Solid week of progress for you. I don’t know how you run at all in that heat/humidity. Luna is a doll! Hooray for a pup cup!
runswithpugs says
It would have been cool. They were at the one 10ish years (?) ago? I remember that it was little man’s birthday party weekend, and Will and Kate were getting married, and I had to make the cake and decorate for the party, so they went off for the day. We can usually see the rockets from our house, but it was too cloudy on Saturday.
Stacie Seidman says
Luna on the leash is the cutest thing I’ve seen probably ever. We need more of that to break up everything else these days, so thank you for that.
Great work on the couch to 5K! You’re killing it!
runswithpugs says
I will post puppy pics all freaking day. She is so splooty and all over the place.
Wendy says
Luna is so cute, I can’t even…I’m glad you’ve been enjoying all the treats. I had no idea Starbucks had a pup cup! Cocoa would love that. Maybe it’s better that we don’t tell her…
runswithpugs says
It’s just whipped cream in a cup, so you could probably make it at home š If you were so inclined. Cocoa works hard. She deserves it.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Another great week for you! OMG, that picture of Luna in the skateboard! So cute!
I missed the Launch this past weekend. Are you close to Cape Canaveral?
runswithpugs says
We are about 2-2.5 hours away from the Cape. It’s a doable drive, but a lot of beaches and viewing sites were closed, so you had to kind of drive around to find a place to pull over.
Luna is crazy. I need to get her on the skateboard again.
