Welcome back to the Fit Five Friday linkup! Even better, it’s time for the March Ultimate Coffee Date! This is a great time to share with each other over coffee, virtually, of course.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
My favorite employee at Dunkin Donuts “retired!” He had been there for years, working his way through school, and now he’s ready for the next adventure! I am so happy for him, but I’m going to miss him, too. He always had my order ready when I walked in, and was such an asset to the store’s team. Best wishes to him!
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That strength training is kicking my butt! Ugh! My original goal was to complete a strength session every day of March, but friends, that is not reasonable. Not. At. All. Much as I hate to do it, I’m amending the goal to “regular strength training in March.” It’s still challenging, but not quite as exhausting. Rest days are important, too!
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That Luna is going to be one on Tuesday!!!! I cannot believe it! That sweet little nugget has been the best thing to happen to our family. Granted, she is rotten and a straight up terror, but we love her, and she loves us so much. Will there be cake? You know it. I also have to make her annual appointment at the vet, and I’m dreading it, because she hates it so much š
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That even though I hate speedwork, I love leaving the neighborhood and running the bridge every week. And now I’m trying to break that “habit” and switch up with a new destination from time to time. I wouldn’t say I’m in a rut, but it’s nice to try different things and going to different areas kind of forces me to change up my workout. This can only work in my favor, so I just have to make myself go for it.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I finally place my pie order! The timing just hasn’t workout for that pie speakeasy, but my time has come! I can’t wait to report back after I try it this weekend!
What would you share over coffee?

Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Strength training every day would be really hard! I do 2 full body sessions each week, and I try to do some additional core and glute exercises a few other days each week. Happy Birthday to Luna!
runswithpugs says
Complete mistake LOL! I have adjusted accordingly!
Kimberly Hatting says
Strength training kicked my backside (literally) this week. My glutes and hammies were NOT happy after Tuesday morning’s workout, but are feeling almost back to normal now. That’s all good, but OUCH. Happy Bday to little Luna!!
runswithpugs says
My hips and glutes have been sore. It’s ok, but I don’t need to overdo it.
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Drooling over that pie. Pies are my favorite besides ice cream.
Good for you on ST. None here. But I do love running the bridges in Fla. and I started a plank challenge. Maybe thereās hope.
runswithpugs says
Love pie. I really do. And I need more of this.
Plank challenges are hard, too. I just remember how great I felt a few years ago when I was really training and I would love to recapture that.
Kim G says
how is Luna going to be 1 already?! I swear, time really flies!
While I love strength training, I’m still amazed at how much it kicks my butt – Almost more than running sometimes!
runswithpugs says
I don’t know!
I almost passed out on Day 2. I just didn’t increase my caloric intake and all of a sudden, the room was spinning. Whoops.
Jenny says
Omg, Luna is too, too cute. You reminded me that our “kitten” will be turning one on April 1st, and there will be a cake as well! I want to see picture of Luna’s birthday party.
Don’t feel bad about the strength training- rest days really are important. You do a lot, and your body was trying to tell you something!
runswithpugs says
I’m sad that she won’t wear a tutu, but yes, there will be photos. I can’t wait.
My body was very vocal about my decisions lol! I listened.
Marcia says
You had me at pie. Cannot wait to hear all about it! Happy Birthday to the Luna nugget! They grow up way too fast. Ozzy will be FOUR in April! Noooo!
runswithpugs says
FOUR! That’s insane! We realized that Delilah will be 11 this year! Crazy!
Cari says
mm. pie. So glad you were able to make it work.
I thought the February strength training was going to kill me. I ‘m glad March is weekdays only. I was not meant for daily.
I’m so glad you got Luna — she’s so makes me smile too
runswithpugs says
Apparently, I am not meant for daily, either. Lesson learned. I can admit when I’m wrong.
Luna was a godsend to us. I am already looking at rescues to see if we might expand our family. Shhh. Don’t tell the boys.
Michelle D. says
Daily strength training would be hard I think. I was ok with daily core work but definitely need rest days between upper and lower or full-body workouts.
How is it possible that Luna is 1 already!? She’s so cute š
runswithpugs says
So hard.
I don’t even know! She’s such a little monster. I think I am asking for training for her as MY birthday gift.
Wendy says
LOL, I think Luna and Cocoa are soul sisters! I do love a sassy pup. Happy birthday to Luna!
I completely burned out on strength training (who me?) but in a strange twist of fate, got a 2 week break because SJ was out of town. This week, I told her how I felt and she GOT IT. So we’re doing different things. I’m grateful for her creativity. It’s fun again!
runswithpugs says
I love sassy pups!
A’s skateboard lessons are at a CrossFit gym, and I just wanted to hop in and start lifting something. I need to get stronger before I commit to that, though. I’m so glad your coach is so willing to listen and work with you <3
Coco says
That pie looks great ā I do love fruit pies! Iāve been missing my strength workouts since my fall but started doing more challenging ones this week and the DOMS is crazy! Every day can be counter-productive for sure!
runswithpugs says
I love so many kinds of pie. Honestly. I just love crust most of all.
DOMS is so insane. It’s a good ache, but it’s just exhausting, too. I feel like I’m not strong enough right now, and I hate that. I’ll get there.
RenƩe @runlaugheatpie says
yeah, I strength train twice a week right now… I would love to do more and will at some stage, but I’m not there mentally or physically yet. I’m just happy that I’m having a more “regular” schedule these days. Obviously you are ahead of me in recovery, but glad you recognised it was too much and amended your goal!
Happy birthday to Luna! My Leo kitty is also almost 1; end of this month! time flies!!!
you know I want to know ALLLL about your pie!!! If I’m not all about pie then who am I really???
runswithpugs says
I think I am going for 3-4 x a week. That seems reasonable. I started out too hard.
Aw! Happy first to Leo as well!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Happy Birthday to Luna! This morning my sister and I were talking about Lola because her birthday is at the end of the month. Yum on that pie!
runswithpugs says
I can’t wait to give her her cake! Happy birthday to Lola!
Melissa says
That pie looks so so amazing!! And perfect for pi day! Happy bday to Luna š
runswithpugs says
Thank you!
