We’ve got a bit of a dull week on our hands. Things have been going so straight, but on Wednesday, I had my wisdom teeth pulled. While it wasn’t devastatingly awful, it’s definitely put a kink in pretty much everything. Yay. Not really. Here’s a look at the week.
Sunday – 4.56 miles, walking
I started the day with a lovely walk,. That’s truly how the best weeks start.
A and I had plans that were canceled, so Mr PugRunner took a date day in St. Augustine. I had a craving for Osprey Tacos.
And then we went on a self-guided tour of the St. Augustine Distillery. It’s free, and drink samples are included. It doesn’t get better than that.
Monday – 6.03 miles, running
Beautiful mornings call for beautiful reruns, and I sure loved this one on the bridge.
Tuesday – 5.29 miles, running + .52 miles, walking
I enjoyed the heck out of this run. Sometimes, it just hits right.
I was a bit out of sorts for the afternoon, and my day was made so much better when a friend dropped off this incredible gift! I am such a Schitt’s Creek fan, and this was just perfect. It made me laugh and took my mind off things.
Wednesday – rest
Happy surgery morning!
My procedure was scheduled for 10:40, and by the time we got to the surgeon, I was STARVING. I opted for general anesthesia because of my dental anxiety, so I Had to cut off food and drink the night before. Mr PugRunner was my ride, and he said the whole thing took about 20 minutes. Honestly, it was shocking how quickly everything happened.
We went straight home and I dozed off for a bit. It took me a while to get the pain under control on the left side. The right side never really bothered me much, which was great. I struggled to get enough food in – one would think that a few days of milkshakes would be amazing, but it got old fast.
Thursday – rest
One day post-op hit me like a ton of bricks. I wasn’t in a lot of pain per se, but I was. So. Nauseous. I threw up most of the morning, and finally got a prescription called in from the doctor, because I couldn’t take it anymore. It reminded me of pregnancy, through which I vomited.
I spent so much of the day in bed, trying to nap. A went to my parents and K worked from home. Super exciting.
Friday – 2.44 miles, walking
Meds had done their work and I was feeling so much better. Discomfort, but not pain, thank goodness. I was able o get up, take Luna for a walk, and even treat myself to a few miles.
Saturday – 3.7 miles, walking
And even farther today. It felt much better, but I didn’t push for more.
Despite the victory, the frustrating thing has been eating. My mouth is sore and I can’t open it very far, so getting food in and chewing is exhausting. I can’t use a straw, so everything has to be eaten off a spoon, which doesn’t always fit comfortably, so… blah.
This, too, shall pass.
Goal-getting
I assure you, no goals were gotten this week. Ok, maybe I did get in some serious reading, and that counts.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Ever been out of commission a few times in a row?

Sorry it’s been a struggle for you this week! But I bet you’re glad its over now. Hopefully you will be back to eating normally again soon.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Gosh, I had my wisdom teeth out when I was in my 20s. They were all in, so just had to be pulled. I think they gave me IV Valium for the procedure and it was good…lol

Yes- now is the time to get your reading in! I’ve been through that, and it’s not fun. I forgot about the part where you can’t use a straw. And are little pieces of food getting stuck in the holes? UGH! Well… it will pass. Everything will heal up, but I know it’s no fun right now. Hang in there!

Oral surgery is no fun at all. Glad you are on the road to recovery. Hope you can eat normally soon.

The self guided distillery tour sounds pretty cool – especially the free samples!
Love that Rosebud Motel keychain! I binge watched Schitt’s Creek a few months ago and really loved the series.
Glad that you are starting to feel better after your procedure. Hang in there!

I am a BIG Schitt’s Creek fan. I so miss that show.
Glad you are on the mend.
Next week will be better.
I had a bad 16 mos way back. Broken ankle, stress fracture, broken foot…. It was bad!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you are on the mend. I have no doubt you will back to your old self in no time

I still remember (30 years later) the surgeon telling me I could whatever I wanted after an appointment. But yes, I could barely open my mouth! Yup, it will pass.
Glad you could have some fun times beforehand. I literally worked up to the appointment because I had so little time off.
Hoping you’re able to eat a little today & enjoy whatever you have on tap.

UGH, wisdom teeth! Glad you got it over with, and I hope you’re feeling back to normal asap!
I remember eating a lot of chocolate pudding and apple sauce when I had mine out. It was like being an infant again!

I had mine removed when I was in high school, so I don’t remember a ton about it. What an ordeal! Wow. Getting the right food/fuel in would be challenging for sure! I hope you continue to feel better. Next week will be totally different and now that’s behind you!

Wisdom teeth are a nightmare. Somehow, I only had three such teeth…but they came out in my 20’s. Glad I didn’t have any anesthesia issues, but I know a lot of others aren’t as fortunate. All three kids have had theirs’ extracted, the youngest daughter was the last one (just a few months ago). Hopefully things will continue to feel better!

Ugh dental issues are so hard! I’m glad you’re on the mend. Hope you continue to feel better!

I want that keychain! I love the show too. I do remember that even when people talked about it, I still would not watch it. Then when I did I realized how much I was missing out. Glad to hear you are doing better. But why couldn’t you use a straw?
Renée says
ugh. I am so sorry it’s been kind of a sh*tshow with eating since your op. do you think you were nauseous from the anaesthesia? Luckily this is not a injury that will leave you out of commission for too long. But I do know how it feels to heal from one thing, have things going well and then get smashed in the face (figuratively) with another thing. Hang in there. x
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Yay for getting your wisdom teeth removal behind you! When I saw the picture of the milkshake with the straw, I though, “Oh no, Jenn was still groggy and didn’t remember hearing them say not to use a straw.” But you did!
I love that keychain! What a fun little gift!
Marcia says
Sorry the surgery aftermath has been rough. Dealing with the wisdom teeth is no fun at all. But it’s behind you now so yay!
Liz Dexter says
Glad you’re on the mend and great reading! I read a book directly after having a general (admittedly a longer operation) and almost immediately and forever forgot every single thing about it!

Ooof, dental surgery 🙁 I had my gums grafted twice (once on each side) and that was horrible. Felt like I had been hit across the face with a board. And, I was off running for several weeks. I’m glad you got your pain under control. I should have got stronger meds. I know what you mean about the milkshake – I bought 3 tubs of ice cream for my dental surgery but it really didn’t distract me much! Hope you are feeling all better now!
