Yes. It was the last week of summer and we are going to back to school. It feels so surreal. To be honest, I’m not sure how I’m feeling about things, but I guess we will find out.
Sunday – 4.28 miles, walking
A new Sunday meant a new week. I don’t know about you, but I have felt so heavy and weighed down lately. This walk wasn’t even cathartic. I just couldn’t get out of my own head and thoughts.
I had to snap out of it, because J and I had plans at Selfie Photography Jax with Yelp Elite. We had a private, 30 minute session in the studio to take as many selfies as we could in their fantastic themed rooms. It was awesome and I can’t wait to go back.
If you have a selfie “museum” like this near you, I highly recommend paying a visit. It’s so fun.
Monday – 5.01 miles, bridge repeats
Bridge day! The salt air is always so restorative. I got in five miles without missing a beat.
When I got home, A and I went out to get new clothes for school. Friends, he has grown about 4″ over the summer. Maybe more. I don’t even understand it.
Tuesday – 5 miles, running + 1.37 miles, walking
Yay for a fabulous morning run. I had a busy day ahead but this was a great way to kick things off.
Did I mention that A’s foot also grew an entire size? So, yes, he did have to go ahead and get resized for school shoes.
That evening, we had Court of Honor for our Scouts. A isn’t ready for his next rank yet, but he did earn his summer camp merit badges, as well as an Honor Camper award for his commitment to the ideals of Scouting during said camp. We were so proud.
Wednesday – 3 miles, walking
Up and at’em with my regularly scheduled walk. Just an hour earlier and a mile shorter. I was slated to help at the middle school for Friday’s orientation, so I was in a huge rush.
It was incredibly strange being back, but I managed to get through it ok. Afterwards, A spent some time assembling and organizing his school supplies.
Thursday – 4.51 miles, running
The boys had to be out of the house super early for a fishing charter, so I took advantage of that to run super early. I was also on my own this time, but that was ok.
While they were on the water, I drove up to north Jacksonville to pick up a grazing board I won from Luxe Picnics by Les.
Les is the QUEEN of grazing boards and taught me (virtually) everything I know. This box was my dinner, with a glass (or three) of wine.
Unfortunately, the boys didn’t catch any keepers, but they had a blast on the water.
Friday – 2.48 miles, walking
Happy (?) School Orientation Day! I walked super early so I could get to school on time to help.
I dressed in all my school colors and braced myself for the morning ahead.
Before I got into the business of selling PTSO memberships and spirit wear, we walked A around to his classes, met most of his teachers, and got him set up with his locker. I don’t know how I feel about this, but he seemed ready and confident, so I have to go with that.
In the afternoon, we went to J’s house for High Tea. Yup. We had teas and finger sandwich, and we wore fancy clothes, and listened to orchestral music and it was just the loveliest.
Saturday – 8 miles, running + 1.34 miles, walking
I don’t know how we dragged ourselves out of bed for this 8 miler, but we did and we did it well.
I didn’t QUITE beat the rain, but I came close. Yay me.
We saw my parents for lunch and then we had burgers in the driveway with some neighbors to celebrate back to school. on Monday. It was the busiest day, and I was more than happy to escape to bed.
Goal-getting
My miles feel a bit lower this month, probably because of the storms and the early morning activities. I will ramp it up this week.
Now that school is back in session, I will be able to spend more time dialing in our meal planning and all that. We’ve been fine, but I know I’ve been stress eating the last few weeks, and it would be good to get that under control.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Are you back to school yet?

A super busy week for you! I think back-to-school will be very emotional for a lot of people this year – myself included. I hope A has a great school year!

What a busy week! I always had mixed feelings about the boys going back to school. I missed the carefree summer days, but I also craved routine. Your boy will be fine, mama!

It’s got to be very hard seeing A back in school but also so great for him!
High tea — I miss that! Lovely.
Sounds like you fit your fitness in well with your other activities. Good jonpb!
