What? How are we here again???
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That I can’t believe that it’s almost October! Seriously! I know I say this every month, but the year is flying.
I runfess…
That I wore long sleeves on my walk this morning! It was 64 degrees! The situation only lasted a mile, but I was glad to have the added warmth for that distance.
I runfess…
That I’m almost in denial about Best Damn Race Safety Harbor. I said this last month, too, but the nerves are still there. On the plus side, I’m ready for the 5K, 10K, and half. Mostly. I guess worst case scenario, I’m going to move lots of miles in a city I’ve never visited, with great friends, and it’s going to be just fine.
I runfess…
That I have already stared Halloween preparations. The boys aren’t as excited about things as I am, but I’ve started running the movies, and the music, and getting in the festive spirit. Yesterday, I hit tup the Dollar Tree and Home Depot, and started DIYing some ghosts and wreaths. A is out of the “cute” Halloween phase, and into the spooky/gory/bloody phase, so I am trying hard to keep up.
I runfess…
That I have a new side hustle: grooming and bathing horses! My incredible friend is making her mark on the world with her equine therapy business, and she needed a little bit of help with some of the behind-the-scenes work. Taco visits our local children’s hospital once a week to help bring joy to the incredible kids there, and I have the privilege of assisting with his pre-visit bath. I scoot over to the barn right after my Tuesday run and it works out beautifully. If you don’t know me, this is so up my alley. You can read more about the program here.
What are you runfessing this month?

I can only imagine how fun it must be working with miniature horses! And for a great cause, too!
I was never a big fan of Halloween, & since now it’s the anniversary of Lola crossing the rainbow bridge — she’s been on my mind.
Have fun at your race & with your friends! I know you will! Exciting!

Long sleeves… I’m jealous!
That is the coolest side hustle in the world!!! I can only imagine how happy the kids are to meet Taco. How fun that you get him all ready for that visit.
Yes-bring on the Halloween decs! I’m ready.

taco brings all the joy! I love it!

Awww I Love that you are bathing therapy horses! When I lived in Birmingham England, I took up English riding. We’d go on these riding hacks as they were called, for hours, then come back to the stable and bathe the horses. I LOVED it!
I am all in for fall AND Halloween, but really cannot justify any decorations yet in our reno dust. I’ve got our front door all good to go though with pumpkins, mums and hay bales! You’re going to have so much fun at BDR! Just enjoy it!

I used to ride when I was younger. I would love a horse of my own, but someone just isn’t on board, and it’s too expensive to not have full support. This is the best of both worlds: I can spend time with them, ride if I want, and I’m not responsible for medical bills.
I wouldn’t decorate during a reno either! That’s just too much!

Sadly, I do not do much fall decorating these days, including Halloween. I set out some mums and pumpkins…and that’s pretty much where it ends. I know, #pathetic LOL

I put out mums. I think they will be dead soon. I’m the worst at maintaining plants.

I really need to get some fall decorating going!
I think it’s great that you are helping with the therapy horses! What a great way to spend some time.
You’re ready for BDR – you’re going to do great! Enjoy every minute of it!

This morning on my walk–it was 57–I saw a woman wearing full-on winter gear. Turtleneck, winter coat, headband…. meanwhile, I was sweating. lol
runswithpugs says
Isn’t that always the way? I am chilly in 67, but I’ll start sweating pretty quickly.

How fun grooming the horses. It’s always nice to have a side Hustle. I can’t believe it’s going to be October either. I need to go get some fall decor. Last year at this time I was just moving into my own place and didn’t decorate at all. Looking forward to it this yr.

Oh, can’t wait to see what you come up with!

The horse program seems like a really thoughtful and helpful program to be a part of!

I’m learning so much!

Girl, it is too soon for Halloween stuff. It is still September! 🙂

I mean, just barely!
