Fall is great, but spooky season makes it all worthwhile. I love Halloween and everything that goes along with it, so you know I am in my element.
Sunday – 3.38 miles, walking
I planned to wake up, log my walk, and then go pick up the kids from camp, but Mr PugRunner beat me to the car. I dd accomplish the walk portion.
After that, I just didn’t feel well. Somehow, I managed a nasty hormone migraine, that left me pretty wrecked until about 1:30 in the morning. It finally went away, but ugh. They are never fun.
Monday – 5.1 miles, bridge work
After Sunday’s migraine, I “cheated” a little on my run. Instead of my mile on the beach, and then repeating the bridge twice (four lengths), I ran on the beach, walked up the bridge, ran down, and then walked to the main road, before turning and repeating the process. I got the same distance, but I also didn’t push too hard. Meh.
Tuesday – 5.01 miles, running
Morning five miles, and that’s all I had time for.
And it was straight to the barn for “Taco Tuesday.”
Wednesday – 4.55 miles, walking
Wednesday promised to be fun. First, I went for a walk.
From there, I met my mom at the most adorable local coffee shop. We got drinks and biscuit sandwiches, and shared breakfast at a picnic table with a view of the river.
That night, Mr PugRunner and I went to Tijuana Flats to sample their new wings menu. Tijuana Flats uses their Signature Sauces to create delicious, crispy, jumbo wings, and we are looking forward to ordering a platter for one of our football games. They’re that good.
Thursday – 5.00 miles, running +.75 miles, walking
Big and exciting Thursday for us! J had plans, so I ran on my own. The weather was gorgeous and I really leaned into it!
Then it was time for Breakfast Club! I made these “Don’t You Forget About Breakfast” shirts for the occasion. If you know, you know.
I went to Home Depot and some craft stores to pick up supplies: J was coming over and we planned to make these chicken wire ghosts I saw on Tik Tok. First, I put together these apple cider mimosas…
And then we got to work. We need a little better lighting, but the end result is so creepy and cool!
Friday – 4.47 miles, walking
It was actually pretty chilly this morning and I had a great walk. It’s nice to not be soggy with humidity.
I intended to be a bit productive, but I ended up doing next to nothing all day. Not enough sleep and too much adrenaline is a bad combination.
Our night was awful. Sometimes, being a mom to a teenager is heartbreakingly hard, and this was one of those nights. Mr PugRunner helped by picking up dinner (and ice cream) from the food trucks, and we tried to have a movie night. He decided to put on one of the newer Halloween movies, which was a HUGE mistake. I was done in 24 minutes, and they weren’t too far behind me. Blah.
Saturday – 11 miles, running + 1.49 miles, walking
Happy long run day! I was a little scared to go out in the dark morning by myself, and every noise made me jump. Sigh. J also missed her alarm, so I was out there by myself a little longer than I had planned. Zero stars, do not recommend.
However, she made it and we ran those miles: 11 for me and nine for her. We are rock stars!
I went out to pick up some more holiday goodies, including a costume for Miss Luna. Oh, yes. It’s going to be precious!
We regrouped for some wine and tapas on our date night. Our original plan was a wine pairing at the Publix Cooking School, but due to lack of enrollment, the class was canceled. Boo. We just made our own pairing, and that was wonderful, too.
Goal-getting
It felt good to get those 11 miles, and I am looking forward to 12. It feels like I’m back, mostly, and that makes me happy.
I’m going to have a few holiday crafts coming up, as well as another installation of Travel Tuesday!
On Saturday morning, I’m also running the Pink Up The Pace 5K, in honor of breast cancer research and support. It’s a great event and an even better cause, and I’m so ready to run.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Do you love spooky season?
Jenny says
Sounds like there were some challenges this week, but some fun as well! I LOVE the chicken wire ghost! And I love that you made it while drinking apple cider mimosas. Yes, I love Halloween as well- my Halloween decs will be coming out this week!

I am having so much fun being creative!

Those shirts are perfect for my running friends. We plan everything around food.
Woo hoo. 11 miles. That is awesome.
Love your beach and bridge pics. I hope to add some next weekend. Won’t be as warm. Lol

Nothing wrong with loving food and embracing it!
I hope you had a great race!

looks like you had a great mix of workouts and lots of fun social outings this week. Love the beach running photo

It was definitely busy. I needed some time to recuperate!

Halloween isn’t my favorite holiday but I always love all the decorations I see for it. I’ve seen so many cool Fall/Halloween displays in Target recently – it always makes me excited for the kickoff to holiday season.
Awesome job on 11 miles!

It just feels like Halloween gets it all going. Maybe that’s what I love about it.

Kind of a roller coaster week you had! Nice work hitting 11 miles! Hope everything is okay with your teen. Teen years are ROUGH. (But also wonderful.) I don’t get them often, but I also had a migraine this past week. Must be something in the atmosphere.
runswithpugs says
So. Freaking. Hard. We will get through, but I am pretty sure I am 100% gray at this point.
Kimberly Hatting says
The chicken wire ghost is great! I don’t do much Halloween decorating these days…the kids are gone and I don’t want Max getting into anything (new and strange things usually will get a good sniff and “mark” from him LOL). Thanks for linking…hoping you get a chance to check out the other posts as well 😉

I’ve been catching up later in the week!
Luna only goes out on her leash. She’s still tiny enough to be attractive to the falcons and hawks!

Well done for those long miles! I need to do a longish one as have my half-marathon coming up. I had one of those rain storm runs this morning where I ended up wringing out my socks onto the front path from my doorway!
runswithpugs says
Yuck! Thank goodness the rain seems to have taken a hike! It was bad for a while.

Love those Breakfast Club shirts 😉
I marvel at how much you pack into a week! Great work on those 11 miles!

Thank you! The ladies loved them too!

I hope your fun outweighed your challenges last week and that this week is better.
I enjoy running in the pre-dawn hours by myself and I’ve been known to run as early as 4:30 AM. I just love the peacefulness of that time of day!
I’m not a fan of Halloween. I don’t dislike it, I’ve just never gotten into it, yet I do put out a few minimal Halloween decorations (I decorate more for fall). I love seeing the excited little trick or treaters on Halloween night!
runswithpugs says
I used to run that early but now I’m afraid of tripping in the dark and hurting my ankle. I miss getting it all done in the dark, but it is what it is.

Taco Tuesday — a whole new meaning for that, right? You’re crushing your miles!
Never been a big fan of Halloween. As I mentioned last week it’s also the anniversary of Lola’s passing & she’s been on my mind.

Congrats on 11 miles. That is a great milestone! Now that my kids are older I think I enjoy fall stuff more than Halloween specific stuff. It was SO much great fun when they were smaller though! Hooray for some cooler, less humid weather!
runswithpugs says
I think I will still do Halloween when he is out of the house. I just love it and always have.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Raising kids in general has it’s moments but yep, those teen years can be tough. Sorry about that. Great job on your long run. I’m sure those apple cider mimosas would make any project fun. You make the best drinks!!

Sometimes I wonder how we’re all going to make it to adulthood. My anxiety can’t take it. 🙁
The apple cider mimosas were a godsend!
