What. A. Week. We started strong and sort of descended into madness. That tracks for this time of year, right?
Sunday – 3.54 miles, walking
I didn’t set the alarm in the morning but still managed to get up and get my day going fairly early. It’s just habit by now.
A came home from his last Troop campout of the year. He’ll be going on one more bigger campout over break, and he’s excited about that.
Monday – 5.03 miles, beach + bridge repeats
It was windy and hazy at the beach, but I didn’t mind. It’s all character building, right? For some reason, the beach was super crowded, and the tide was high enough to block the crossover on the jetty, so there wasn’t as much walking space. Instead, I satisfied myself with some sidewalks in the adjacent neighborhood.
Tuesday – 5.00 miles, running
J wasn’t feeling well so I went out to run on my own. It’s nowhere near as fun, and I am on a tight schedule on Tuesdays.
I had to rush over to get Taco prepped for his Tuesday and then on to the rest of the day. Tuesdays are always busy.
Wednesday – 4.39 miles, walking
Another foggy day. I don’t understand where it’s all coming from.
I worked on some more orders, delivered others and finally finished decorating the tree.
Thursday – 7 miles, running + 1 mile, walking
We moved our long run to Thursday to accommodate for our race on Saturday. J wasn’t feeling great, so we went for seven. It worked out great.
Mr PugRunner and I went to lunch and did a few errands in town. We haven’t been down to see the lights yet, but it was nice to see some of the decorated buildings from Nights of Lights.
Friday – 3.67 miles, walking
TGIF! I started the day with my walk.
The morning plan was to meet up with J for “awkward vintage Christmas tree photos.” Apparently, it was a thing for women to pose awkwardly with their decorated trees back in the day, and it’s a trend to replicate the process. We got dressed up in vintage dresses, with hair and makeup, and gloves and faux cocktails. It was hilarious and so fun. The photos came out great, too!
After an incredibly long day, we met up with some friends for dinner and drinks. We were too involved in the conversation to take pictures (whoops), but it was great.
Saturday – Gingerbread Man 5K
Oh, yeah! Race day! J and I headed over to SilverLeaf to check out the 10th year of this super fun run. I’ll provide a race report on Wednesday, but it as a blast, and we did great.
In the meantime, A spent the morning volunteering at his dojo’s black belt test. As a black belt, himself, he has the opportunity to help out at the tests in which he is not participating. He’ll get his turn for his second dan, soon.
We went to lunch, did a little shopping, and then I decompressed for a bit before heading out to our friends’ Christmas Vacation Party. It’s adults only, themed, and costumes are encouraged. It’s been too long since we got to celebrate.
Goal-getting
Ok. This week, I straight up have to finish Christmas shopping. I’ve been… negligent at best. Whoops.
We are also going to be working on the 12 Days of Fitmas this week! I hope you join this crew of amazing bloggers for 12 days of exercises! We’d love to have you participate!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Any fun events on your calendar?

After reading this, I feel like such a holiday slacker! I love how you are embracing all the fun! That vintage photo is awesome and I love your hubs Cousin Eddie costume. Great work squeezing it all in!

Sounds like you had a fun week! The Christmas Vacation party must have been hilarious. Did you make that jello mold?
We had some foggy mornings here as well. One was so crazy, you literally couldn’t see anything. The weird part is it was clear while I was running- then I was in the house for about ten minutes and when I walked back out to take my daughter to school, a thick blanket of fog had settled over everything. Yes- where does it come from??
Anyway, can’t wait to hear about the gingerbread 5k!

Nice vintage photo! That’s a fun activity 😉 I’ll gladly trade your fog for my wind…it’s been SO crazy here.

What a fun and busy week. Love that photo shoot.
I ran a 5k through our lights in the park and the rain held off. Also ran another race the next day.

The vintage holiday pic is so funny! I had to google to enjoy them all! I know we have some from a billiion years ago of my mom in front of the tree. Haha! Hooray for a fun race!
Michelle D. says
I’m loving your vintage tree pic! So odd about all of the fog you had – wonder what caused it? Congrats on your race – looks like it was a fun one!

Fun stuff this week!! I gagged a bit just looking at the green jello LOL! The vintage pictures sound like a lot of fun too. Great job fitting in the workouts this week. Keep up the workouts to keep away the crazies, right?

I have certainly never heard of Christmas vintage photo shoots — sounds like a fun time (except I have no vintage dresses). And a race, too!
Breathe, just breathe. Whatever gets done gets done. Being able to enjoy the holidays is way more important than any present — it’s its own present.
