We are now into January and the consistent routine is back. Mostly. A started back to school, and Mr PugRunner’s work schedule shifted back to a state of normalcy.
Sunday – 7.33 miles, running + 2.11 miles, walking
J and I put off our New Year’s long run til Sunday. It was ugly and difficult, but we just listened to our bodies, and got it done. Even if it wasn’t exactly what we hoped, we stuck with the consistent routine.
Did I spent the rest of the day in pajamas, reading? Absolutely, I did. It was World Introvert’s Day, and I was there for it.
Monday – 4.1 miles, walking
I skipped the beach today, but it was for a very good reason.
It was MEGHAN DAY! Due to life, Meghan and I haven’t seen each other since Safety Harbor, and I was so happy to give her huge hugs. We had tacos, and margaritas, did a little shopping, and talked and planned. It was perfect.
Tuesday – 5.01 miles, running + .66 miles, walking
And just like that, we were back to our regular running schedule. It was cold again, so I picked tights over shorts. It’s a rare thing.
From there, I had a Taco Tuesday. Taco had an appointment with the farrier, so that changed things up for the day.
Wednesday – 3.95 miles, walking
It was a quiet Wednesday. We all sort of “slept in” a little, but that was no excuse to skip a nice walk.
Since it was A’s last day of winter break, I treated him and his buddy to lunch at his favorite Korean fried chicken place. The boys loved it.
I wanted to take him to see Spiderman: No Way Home, but with cases up, I decided to skip it. One day, we will be back to the movie theater. Just not yet.
Thursday – 5.01 miles, running + .87 miles, walking
Back to school! A did great waking up with his alarm, getting ready and heading out the door. He’s super responsible for his age, and I’m grateful for it.
J and I met for our run, and that went well, too.
That evening, a few ladies and I went to Board & Brush for a sign painting outing. I have done this before, but it’s really a fun activity, and I am so happy with the new sign for my kitchen.
Friday – 3.17 miles, walking
Up and at ’em again! I only had time for a quick walk because I was meeting up with my parents to help them move a new cabinet.
We had breakfast, I made the assist, and they gifted me with their entry way table in exchange. It was perfect because I had been looking for a piece to create a coffee bar in the kitchen, and while this wasn’t exactly what I wanted, it would serve the purpose.
Obviously, I spent the rest of the day painting my acquisition and getting things moving. I’ll share when I have all the artwork in place.
Saturday – 10.37 miles, + 1.26 miles, walking
Much as we didn’t want to get up and moving, J and I headed out for our ten mile long run. This was the day we needed to practice with fueling, and we both opted for some Honey Stinger salted caramel waffles. I ate half before the run, and half at mile seven, and that worked well.
For dinner, I wanted to try a new place called Silkies Chicken & Champagne Bar. It rated #2 for Champagne Bars in the country, and sounded amazing! We all had fabulous biscuits, chicken, and different champagne cocktails and mimosas. The vibe was chill, the food divine, and the drinks so fun.
Goal-getting
The consistent routine is working well in 2022. I am person who enjoys a little spontaneity, but I prefer some semblance of structure.
I have been a rockstar with my water drinking. Pretty much every day, it’s been the first thing I drink.
I will get back to strength and stretching next week. This week had too many moving parts to fit it all in, and I’m ok with that.
Reading has been a huge accomplishment this week. I finished A Court of Wings & Ruin (Sarah J. Maas), Finding Dorothy (Elizabeth Letts) for my upcoming book club, and Missing Molly (Natalie Barelli). I also joined a virtual book club, and that pick is arriving today: The Hour of the Witch (Chris Bohjalian). I can’t wait!
In the movie world, we did rent Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and that was fantastic.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Have you been to a champagne bar? Made a sign? Do you like routine or do you make it up as you go?
Darlene S Cardillo says
I do like a routine but I can do things spontaneously too. But mostly I am a big planner.
You had a real good week of running. My routine is never more than3 miles during the week and then an appropriate long run depending when my next race is.
I love group painting outings but have made glasses and paintings but never a sign. Looks like fun.
It’s always a good week when you can hang out with friends.
Nope on a champagne bar but have been to an outdoor ice bar…brrrr.

Excellent reading! We have a new champagne bar locally – but it’s also a lunch place and (according to the planning application but not yet in evidence) a barbers! And it’s called Boomers, which has put a lot of us off. Hm. Well done on getting back to a consistent regime. I’ve been doing RED January and have been making sure I get out of the house for a significant amount of time every day and doing some stretches – which have really helped my stiff lower back. So all good here and well done, you!

It usually takes me a long time to finish a book these days, so I’m super impressed with all your reading — & everything else you got done! Nice job!
I have a bench from my parents’ & a small side table (it’s a Dalmatian). I took it to clear some space & get tripping hazards out of the way, but I’ve always wanted it.

I definitely thrive on routine. You do have so many fun social outings.Love the sign painting class. Hope your son has a smooth return to school. Way to get after it this week!

Love how you celebrated Introverts Day! Fellow introvert here, though I actually have found that its really common for introverts to blog. I think its a way for us to connect that isn’t quite as energy draining as being in person.
Great job getting in your long runs!
So many fun meals too, you have a lot of great options!

Looks like a great week of running for you! Glad you got to see your friend again. I did not know about Introverts Day or I would have been all over it. Actually, I probably was, lol

First things first- I missed World Introvert’s Day? Seriously??? Although, I guess the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s was Introvert Week for me.
It really does feel good to get back to a routine, although I’m only semi-there. My daughter went back to school but my son is home for one more week. You really do a lot of fun extra things- I’ve never made a sign (I would be terrible at it) or been to a champagne bar. Actually I’m one of the few people who don’t like champagne- I know that’s weird. You did make it sound appealing though!

I think it’s always nice when everything falls back into a routine. I do much better with a schedule and structure!
So sad hat I missed World Introvert Day because that’s a holiday I can get behind, lol.

I love Chris Bohjalian, but haven’t read that one. I just bailed on my book club book – oops. Just don’t have the spoons for it. Way to go on the reading and A on the reentry. Love it when Taco Tuesday lands in my messages <3

This week was all about routine for me, too. It feels good to have some order back in my life after the previous week’s craziness. Speaking of signs, I’m actually planning out a mosaic sign for our place in Florida, with the address on it. I have one I made for our house in Iowa, and thought it would be a unique twist on the traditional signs everyone has here.

Sounds like 2022 is off to a great start for you. Can’t wait to see your coffee bar! Maybe you can show it off at the next coffee date! 🙂

Looks like an awesome start to the new year! I’m still trying to settle into a routine – I crave consistency.
A champagne bar sounds divine!
I hope your son has a smooth return to the classroom.

I missed introvert’s day! Heck every day is introvert’s day here! Looks like a solid week of running. The sign making looks fun! I like my routine because that’s when I’m most productive, but there always seems to be something that throws me out of it.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I love routine and would prefer fun activities to be planned; however, the occasional spur of the moment unplanned activity can be really exciting.
I’ve made two things that I love at Board & Brush! The first time I went alone, but the second time I took a friend. It was so much more fun chatting with a friend while working.
I’m not a fan of champagne and although I do like mimosas, I’d rather take in frivolous calories on margaritas so count me in on tacos and margaritas. 🙂
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I was just thinking that I need to go to our Board & Brush place again! I love crafts, but I struggle to find legitimate places to put the things I make so I haven’t done many crafts lately. Making those board projects are so fun! Good job getting your miles in this week! And that double digit run! Are you training for a race?
