This week was all about pushing through. For some reason, the universe worked every hard against me at every turn. Ugh. So what almost derailed my training? Let’s find out.
The Weather
Our weather was straight up trash. We went from beautiful temperatures to rain, near-freezing temps, brutal wind, and tornado watches. It was ridiculous and unnecessary. I spent a lot of time checking the forecast and watching the skies.
The Time Change
I do love longer days and lighter nights, but waking up in the dark is hard. Fortunately, it’s Spring Break, which means we don’t have to be up to get A off to school, but going out in the morning moonlight is certainly an adjustment. I’m making it work, but some mornings are tough.
Our Appliances
You heard that right: our kitchen appliances really tried to throw me off. From the fridge and freezer breaking, to spending hours ordering an entire new kitchen suite, to dealing with delivery, we had our hands full. I am incredibly grateful to be replacing our 15 year old fridge, range, dishwasher, and microwave, but a lot of time and energy when into that effort this week. The fridge and stove are here. Now we are waiting on the rest (and possibly a replacement new fridge because of a door dent, but we will see how that goes).
My Attitude
I confess that my attitude had much to be desired this week. The weather and lack of sleep got me down. Appliance shopping was stressful, especially when it was more of a need than a want. There were several proverbial balls in the air, and sometimes it’s hard to keep them all going how I want. As a result, I let some negative self talk in, which could very easily have derailed me from my goals.
The Puppy
Ok, so this is clearly the cutest reason for derailment, but Leonidas needs lots of attention, especially in the middle of then night. He’s getting better, but hoo boy, I’m worn out. Is he getting all the sleep he needs? Absolutely. And isn’t that that what matters?
Whew. Let’s put the lid on this week and look forward to an easier time starting Sunday, shall we?

Hope next week is better for you.
I was there on the appliances last summer. Looks like we bought the same ones.
Weather has been a challenge. But I just deal.
Work is my biggest derailer. It’s stressful. Keeps me up at night. I think of quitting everyday. But then it pays the bills. End of rant.
Health is the most important. And I’m good there.

I have gotten used to the weather challenges in the winter time and just kind of learn to roll with it. Hope next week brings you more ease. The upside is that you pushed through

My left hip tried to derail me this week- i had to adjust my strength training a little but am still able to run (and that’s what matters, right?)
i can’t believe your weather! It’s been warm and sunny down here. And I agree- I don’t like the time change. Luckily we also have spring break this week so didn’t have to get up quite as early.
Ha ha, having a puppy sounds hard! I’m sure his cute little face makes it all worth it, even in the middle of the night!

The time change, some travel delays and a bit of malaise got me, too! I hope next week is better!

You certainly had quite the week! The time change threw me off more than I expected and then there’s Mother Nature’s ongoing antics.
I hope next week is better for you!

I am sorry to hear that Jenn. I hope next week is better. Those appliances sure look nice. We do love our pets, right? They keep us up at night but we need to be quiet during the day so they can sleep.

Fortunately, mine sleep through anything during the day, so they are good that way!

That is a LOT! Just a new puppy is enough. They may be fun & cute but they’re also sleep deprivation time sucks.
At least it’s behind you now — on to a much better week next week!

I hope so. The puppy is pretty good but he just wants be outside, and Luna doesn’t want to go to the bathroom if he’s with her. So that’s fun.
