As promised, we have come to the end of our celebration marathon.
Sunday
- Cardio: 4.1 miles, walking
Happy Mother’s Day! I confess to being a little edgy and not wanting to do much of anything. So I went for a long walk while the boys picked up Cuban tostadas for me.
And then we went to the movies to see Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing. Of course, it was brilliantly done, but there were plot points that annoyed me.
For dinner, we ordered in pizza, and that was just what I needed.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.56 miles, running + walking (beach + bridge)
Happy 45th birthday to me! Of course, I had to start the day with a little fitness. Of course I had to go to the beach.
Work days are sometimes tough for celebrating, so Mr PugRunner and I went out for some appetizers for lunch. There were a few things I wanted to do, but those things were also closed on Mondays, so I’ll make it up to myself.
For dinner, we went to the new restaurant and rooftop bar in town. I loved it.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.35 miles, running + walking
- Bicep Session: 3 x 10 wide curls, 3 x 10 close-grip curls, 3 x 10 hammer curls, 3 x 10 alternating cross body curls, 3 x 10, 3 x 10 waiter curls
The days after birthdays are sort of a let down. Oh, well.
A had his annual appointment after school. All is well! He’s grown about three inches since last time, which is wild! We got his camp physical paperwork completed and we are ready for summer (just a few more weeks until 8th grade graduation!)
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.92 miles, walking
Wednesday walking mood. Peep the sleeves. It was chilly again.
Mr PugRunner met me at the vet. Leonidas was FINALLY 10 pounds and could safely get his rabies shot. We also discussed our surgical options in detail, and decided that we will let our vet the procedure at six months during Leo’s neuter. I hate the idea of my sweet boy being operated on but it’s for the best.
Thursday
- Cardio: 7.1 miles, running + walking
The weekend countdown was on!
I ran (and walked) with J.
I took on a new client, so I spent some hours working through the details, and then new got ready for a big night.
A had his high school “rise up” night. It. Was. Amazing. I wish I could share with you how incredible this school is. We are also back with A’s 6th grade principal, who is THE BEST, and creates such a wonderful culture for his students and his staff. It felt like home, and I heard so many parents say how they wished they were entering high school here.
We toured the campus, bough some new spirit gear, listened to the jazz band, and chatted with some of the administration. I think we were all super revved up.
Friday
- Cardio: 3.83 miles, walking
And Friday rolled around again. Since we had been up late, I took advantage of staying in bed a little longer.
We went to the beach for a little down time. To be honest, it was pretty cold and windy, and I wished I had brought a sweatshirt.
That evening, A left for a camping weekend, super excited because he was working on earning another level in his Scouts’ “honor society.”
Saturday
- Cardio: 6.02 miles. running
- Bicep Session: 3 x 10 wide curls, 3 x 10 close-grip curls, 3 x 10 hammer curls, 3 x 10 alternating cross body curls, 3 x 10, 3 x 10 waiter curls
Saturday promised to be BUSY. I ran alone since I had to go out super early. It felt pretty good, so I was lonely but pleased.
Next up was a pancake breakfast fundraiser for band. I am completely invested in the band mom job, and our family was happy to have some yummy breakfast and support the young musicians.
But that’s not all! Mr PugRunner had scheduled another Go Tuk’n tour with friends: this time it was a public arts tour. We had the most amazing time, and wrapped up the night with dinner and drinks.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
This week was a lot. I had some fits and spurts of energy and laziness, with just a touch of being overwhelmed. It’s crazy to think I’m 45 with a child almost in high school! But I love it.
This upcoming week, I’ve decided to punch up the miles. I’m also moving my weights back downstairs. Leonidas has both broken his pen AND learned how to go up (but not down), so it’s tricky to sneak off to do my strength training. Rather than ignore it entirely, I have to adjust to make it work. Easy peasy.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Any big things to report?

Happy Birthday Jenn! Looks like you had a fabulous 45. How exciting for your son–his high school sounds amazing. Buckle up for the next 4 years–time flies by so fast when the kids are in high school. I can’t believe my oldest son is going to be 25 this year!

Happy Birthday! I agree, the day after birthdays (and any holiday) is kind of a letdown. My son likes to keep the celebration going by referring to the day after anything as “boxing day”, as in “Birthday Boxing Day.”
I agree with Wendy- high school goes too fast! What kind of school is A going to? I know you were considering a lot of different options. Anyway, it’s an exciting time for you guys! Hope you have a great week.

Happy birthday! What a busy time you’ve had! I was at the beach last weekend but in our case it takes a three hour train journey to get there … And it was boiling hot!

Looks like it was a great birthday! Like everyone’s mentioned, the HS years do fly by…fair warning. Hard to believe my youngest is almost done with college (December of this year). UGH, How can I be that old, LOL
The public art tour looks fascinating!

Happy birthday! Will A be in marching band at the high school? I have enjoyed marching band so much. It is fun being a band mom. Maybe you’ll be on the band booster board like me too 😉 We just had our chicken BBQ event tonight where all of the bands play. Good times and yummy dinners!

Sounds like a pretty good week to me (happy belated birthday!) but very busy.
Down is always harder! And neutering is the right thing to do. I think Chester might’ve bern less than 10 lbs. I think he was 10 lbs at his heaviest!
