week 78: the hits keep coming

June 26, 2022      9 Comments

Well, this week turned into a big ol’ slap in the face. Needless to say, I’m in a terrible mood, and have zero interest in positive-ing myself out of it.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 3.14 miles, walking

Happy Father’s Day! After a very late night of dancing, we were all a little tired. I walked while everyone else was sleeping.

We didn’t do much else for the rest of the day. Record highs meant that we wanted to stay indoors and loaf around. Nothing wrong with that.

Monday

  • Cardio: 4.47 miles, running + walking (beach)

It was honestly a gorgeous day at the beach. The tide was super low, which meant lots of hard-packed, flat sand. Yay!

That night, we had a taco and margarita night at a friend’s house. We ate and laughed, and played Left-Right-Center. I won the third round so that was awesome!

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 7.28 miles, running + walking

It was hot and humid, but the run felt good, so I’ll take the win.

Mr PugRunne rand I had a date night at our local wine bar. We are part of their wine club, so we had to pick up our June bottles.

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 3.98 miles, walking

The middle of the week calls for a mediocre day of fitness. I am super focused on closing out my June streak, so that’s keeping me going.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 5.79 miles, running + walking

J wasn’t able to run but she was able to join me for a walk. We made it work.

Afterwards, I hurried off to have coffee with Alex, from St. A Mom. I am so glad to be a part of this team, and I love getting together with the incredible ladies who made it happen. This meetup was just us this time, but there will be plenty more to come.

Friday

  • Cardio: 3.75 miles, walking

Friday was just… a day. I got in my walk.

And then I came home and just sort of spent the day alone. I binged The Boys Season 3 (which, if you can stomach it, is really a phenomenal show), and kept to myself. Am I proud of that? No, but I am being gentle with myself at the moment.

Saturday

  • Cardio: 8.33 miles. running + walking

I’m really not sure how we pulled this one together. Part of me really needed to run, but the other part of me just wanted to stay in bed all day. Sometimes, this is how the great runs happen.

After my shower, I treated myself to an iced coffee and raspberry filled donut. Yes, I brought home stuff for the family, too.

In the afternoon, we went to my parents’ to celebrate Father’s Day and my mom’s birthday, and then we took my stepdad to a Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game. It was actually a really nice night, and the Shrimp won! We needed a night like this.

Goal-getting + Thoughts

Meh. Some weeks are like this. Again. My focus is being gentle with myself and then digging back in.

OK, that donut looks delicious and it sounds like you had a good day today.

It’s OK to be down, but don’t give up — perseverance will pay off eventually.

Last week was a challenging one for sure. But it looks like you had some fun stuff to enjoy as well. It’s all about focus, right? I can’t believe June is almost over!

Hope you can drag yourself back into being OK. It’s a bad time of year for lots of people, it seems. I’ve referred myself to NHS mental health services for my ballooning anxiety and my husband’s developed stress-related IBS from his job and his father being unwell. So solidarity from over here xx

I don’t even want to talk to any medical professionals here anymore. Right now, the healthcare profession is not high on my list of people to trust 🙁
