This has been the fastest and slowest month ever. EVER. Let’s get down to some runfessions.
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That I have been doing a terrible job with miles. Am I getting out every day? Yes. The run streak continues. Am I doing amazing things out there? Not in the least. I’ve been slammed with back to school, driving A around to all his commitments, work, and then a few personal things. It s what it is.
I runfess…
That we changed our running schedule. It used to be Tuesday/Thursday with a long run on Saturday (and a mile of running at the beach on Monday), but we switched to Monday/Wednesday with the long run on Friday. This is to accommodate late Friday night football games and competition weekends.
I runfess…
That I haven’t made it to the beach in many many weeks (or at least, it feels like many, many weeks. I miss it.
I runfess…
That I have participated in several activities that have NOT been great for my body. Two separate sessions of working the polls, and scrambling around a football stadium in flip flops have left me feeling pretty sore and achy. Ugh.
I runfess…
That I haven’t signed up for any of my fall races, except Zooma, yet. It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s just that I have so many other things on the books and want to make sure I can do it. Strangely, I still want to run, even without the carrot of a race on the schedule.
What are you runfessing today?

This time of year is pure chaos with back to school. I promise it’ll get a bit better when A can drive himself to his stuff, but still. I runfess I had to bag Zooma Amelia Island and I’m bummed about it.

This is the crazy busy time of year and sometimes running falls to the wayside! It will be there for you when things calm down. Hang in there!
Deborah Brooks says
none of the Zooma races worked for me this year but they do look fun. You will undoubtedly snap right into your new schedule in a few weeks
Darlene Cardillo says
It’s hard when you have kids… they are more important than running. Mine are grown so I have less responsibilities.
I am running fewer miles than I used to… but I’m ok and I need races but I don’t need PRs.
You are still active and enjoying life!! Keep it up.

A month like this is what my son would call a “short-long.” It feels shorts while it’s happening because you’re so busy and time is flying by- but when you look back at it, it seems really long. I think you’ve been doing a great job getting out there with everything else going on. You can’t focus on everything at once. And, you do have a race on the calendar- it will be here before you know it, and it sounds really fun. Enjoy the craziness!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Good for you on moving daily despite the back to school chaos! (And thank you for working the polls – it’s so important.)
Kimberly Hatting says
I have been keeping consistent, but my running miles have been low in recent weeks as well. Granted, I’ve been logging mucho miles on the bike…but still. Thankfully, I feel like my running is easing back to a “normal” range. Keeping things in balance is always a battle!
runswithpugs says
Balance is so hard.

I don’t k ow how parents do it! You’re moving, you worked for worthwhile causes — you’re doing great! Except for not getting to the ocean. Slacker ! Kidding, obviously. Just cause I wish ocean was an option . . .

i MISS THE OCEAN!
It was such a nice way to start my weeks.
Zenaida Arroyo says
You’re still doing a lot. Being a parent is a lot of work. How long is your run streak now?
runswithpugs says
Almost 400 days? I haven’t counted.
