I know I say it all the time, but how are in the last two months of the year already? It’s October, and we are ready for Runfessions.
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That I am all signed up for the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot. I have no idea what a 5K in the mountains will be like, but what the heck? I miss holiday running, so I’m going to do it.
I runfess…
That Planksgiving is here and I hate every second of it, already. I am neglectful of my core, and so I am always resentful when I get back into working on it. This challenge can’t end soon enough.
I runfess…
That my self-esteem has been in the trash, lately. I used to feel so strong, but lately, not as much. Some solid runs have me feeling more like myself, and I hope that I can keep the vibe going.
I runfess…
That I am struggling mentally with some things, body image aside. I am a person who always pushes for positivity, but it’s been hard, and I feel a bit suffocated by that. This is definitely the time of year for this kind of intrusive thought pattern, but I feel like if I put it out there, I am now accountable for fixing it. Solutions are always a good thing.
I runfess…
That I haven’t been reading and that makes me sad. Every night, I try, but I end up being so tired that I can’t manage it. Let me see if I can make that change in my routine.
What are you runfessing today?

The 5k in the mountains sounds fun. A bit different than your usual route eh?
I hope you start to feel better about certain things and these last 2 months go well for you. -M

So fun and so different!
I’ll come around.
Darlene Cardillo says
A 5k in the mountains should be fun and stress-free. You just enjoy the scenery. I’d love that.
We all have stuff going on that affects our mental state. Good thing we have running and virtual friends.
I do read every night because I can’t fall asleep unless I do. I never pick a book up otherwise. I didn’t even read when I was on the train (which is rare for me.)

I am so excited for our trip.
And I love reading so much. I can’t wait for my next book to come in.

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling. I think sharing and being open about it is a good first step. Take it one day at a time and try to focus on the positives!

<3 I'm working on the positive self-talk.

I’d never have known you were struggling when you were owning the room in your gorgeous pink dress at the ZOOMA expo when I met you! <3
I runfess I tried to read a book on the plane to/from Amelia Island that was so bad I returned it to the little library in our neighborhood as soon as I got home. For a second I considered leaving it on the plane.

That was a burst of nervous excitement! You are so sweet.
what was the book? I have to know!
Jenny says
I would guess your 5k will be hilly but beautiful! I wish I could run it with you.
I think it definitely can help to put it all out there if you’re struggling with something. It’s kind of like a message to yourself- “I’m serious about fixing this!”
Inspired by you, I signed up for Planksgiving but I’ve hit a snag. I’ll be talking about it on Sunday for the Weekly Rundown!

Hills! Yikes! I hope everything is ok!

Sending you hugs my friend – I’m sorry you’re struggling.
I bet that 5K will deliver some beautiful views!

I used to read way more at night but I am also too tired and we watch too much tv! That 5K sounds like it will be really pretty. That is something fun to look forward to

Sorry you’re not feeling yourself these days. Hopefully things will right themselves 😉 I’m also starting a Planksgiving challenge…more details to come soon!! The 5K in the mountains sounds really fun and scenic!!

Yep on the reading. I thought I had it figured out again, and then have barely read since I got back from Florida.
HUGS. Intrusive th oughts are hard.

A 5K in the mountains sounds challenging but beautiful.
I’m sorry you are struggling. I get anxious thinking about big things — politics, the election, Putin, … so I try not to.
So many evenings I fall asleep after reading just one page!

I think the 5k will be hard but fun! A nice change of venue for you.
I feel you about struggling with mental health. I am there too. Have been for a while. I really need to leave my job but we aren’t quite ready for me to retire. Who’s going to hire a 60 year old?
