We are running to the finish in 2022, with less than a month until the New Year. This has been the slowest and fastest year ever. Nothing has been right in the longest time.
So how do I plan to make it to the end of the year, with my fitness going strong?
Run Fun Races!
Yup. I’m running, not one, but TWO festive races! Back to back! On the same weekend! Wheeee! I have some cute themed shirts, and I plan on getting all the photos. It’s going to be great for my holiday spirit. Maybe not so great for my hips, but I’ll manage.
Engage In A Challenge
Challenges are always a great way to stay focused and dedicated to the cause. I don’t remember where I saw this, but it seemed easy enough to include in my daily life, so here we go. PS. There are rest days built in, which is extra nice.
Keep Setting That Alarm
I know I ended up breaking that Streaking With The Cool Kids streak, but that’s no reason not to resume and keep going. Even over the holidays, I plan to get up and log miles. It’s a great way to start my day with a clear head and reduced stress.
Enjoy ALL THE THINGS!
That’s right! I’m going to balance out my fitness with holiday fun. I am already in the mood with festive cocktails, themed dinners, and nights out at all the latest light displays. This time of year can be hard for a lot of people, but for me, it’s hard when I’m not soaking up all of it. That’s how I get through.
How are you going to finish up 2022?

Great job, Jenn! That’s a fabulous way of waving goodbye to 2022. Especially love the challenge!
I’ll be doing CrossFit, hikes and working on my rehab as if my life depended on it. Looking forward to 2023!

Great job of staying active until the end.
After 33 races I’m just taking it easy.
Not resting but short runs hikes walks and celebrations with friends and family.

Keep moving forward right!? I love the idea of finishing the year with fun holiday runs.

This time of year can be challenging, but its helpful to try to have a good balance! I will probably run less this month but still get out regularly for some miles while also doing some fun things. Good luck with your challenge!

It sounds like a great finish to a great year for you! I’m wrapping up my strength cycle, so no races for me until January. Enjoy your races! And cocktails!

“Nothing has been right in the longest time.” Yes, I hear you. I’m trying to get things under control this month instead of just wondering why X,Y, and Z are going wrong. But I’m also going to enjoy the month- We should definitely take the opportunity to be festive while we can.
