This is it! Happy Hannukkah and it’s the last week before Christmas! It’s been a rocky end to a meh year, but I’m holding on to all the holiday cheer I can manage! Let’s begin!
Sunday
- Cardio: Gingerbread Man 5K
Good morning, and Happy Sunday. I started the week with the Gingerbread Man 5K (race report to come, of course). I love this race, and my friend K, but it was cold and bitter and misty. I was not dressed even remotely properly (had the cutest tank underneath my sweatshirt and wasn’t planning on wearing the pictured shirt at all), but whatever. We kicked butt.
Monday
- Cardio: 5 miles, running + walking
- Strength: 3×10 Lateral Raise ISO Hold, 3×10 Dumbbell Snatch to Reverse Lunge, 3×10 Glute Bridge Abductions, 3×10 Seated Bicep Curls, 3×10 Renegade Row
I was on my own for this run, so I mixed up my route and had some fun. It felt really good. Afterwards, I put in some time with a full body strength routine. My body did not approve.
I also got my nails done. Love them, as usual.
Bad news. I got Whammed in Whamageddon. Boo for me.
Of course, once I got home, I started putting up exterior lights. Thank goodness for the curing process soon those nails: no chips.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.38 miles, walking
- Strength: 3×10 Banded Laying Leg Raise, 3×10 Russian Deadlift, 3×10 Weighted Glute Bridge Abductions, 3×10 Lateral Lunge, 3×10 Lateral Hops
Ooooh. It’s getting colder (that’s sand, not snow or frost). I am loving it.
Spent some time on my legs this morning. Not fun, but it’s good for me.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.09 miles, walking + running
- Strength: 3×10 pushups, 3×10 ISO Hold Chest Press, 3×10 Seated Shoulder Press, 3×10 Seesaw Curls, 3×10 Overhead Hold March
Finally had a buddy to go out with, and that was awesome.
My legs were really sore, so I switched to an arm workout.
And I decorated the tree. Finally.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.98 miles, walking
Took a little break from the strength. I was hurting and the weather was gross. Plus, I had a bunch to do.
I was supposed to be going on a road trip to visit Meghan, and see the Night Of A Million Lights, benefitting Give Kids The World, but with tornado warnings, and thunderstorms, we weren’t sure if it would happen. Fortunately, the storms cleared, and I was able to make the drive.
Even better, the event was open!
I am going to speak for both of us when I say we needed this break.
Friday
- Cardio: 2.75 miles, running + walking
This trip had a super quick turnaround, but before I left, we had a walk at a nearby park.
And donuts.
Also, Happy National Ugly Sweater Day!
If you want to see me dance…
When A got home from school, he and I went shopping at our big outdoor mall. We don’t get to do a lot of the fun stuff together, so it was nice to catch up and have dinner.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.24 miles, walking
We had a busy Saturday ahead of us. A was working at a karate belt test, so I dropped him off and got my miles in near the studio.
A little before I was supposed to pick him up, he called to say his bosses were taking the team out to lunch. It was his first “work holiday party” and I think it was so nice of them to treat the kids.
That afternoon, he went to his buddy’s house, and I worked on baking cookies.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
There is still a lot to do. We will celebrate Hanukkah at my parents’ today and then get into the rest of the week. It’s definitely crunch time.
I have a few more gifts to buy, some earring orders to complete, and all the rest of the baking and the wrapping. Will it get done? Of course!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? What’s left on your to-do list?

Happy Hanukkah and Merry almost-Christmas! Your tree looks lovely, and your “ugly” sweater is cute!
Nice going on the 5K — and then running 5 miles the day after!
I hope you have a great week.

All my ugly sweaters are pug. The back to back 5Ks were fun!

Your tree is so pretty! I love the basket you have covering up the base of the tree.
Great job on the 5k and glad you got to see your friend. This certainly is the busiest time of year!

I think I got it in Michaels four years ago. It’s super cumbersome to store, but now they make similar tree stand “collars” that come in pieces to be more easily packed away.
Jenny says
i love your tree! And, I really need to get an ugly sweater. I’m sure I can find a cat one.
Nice job on all the strength this week! I know- I don’t want to do it either. But we have to… sigh.
runswithpugs says
I would think cat ugly sweaters are the most popular!
i hate strength. About to hop back in for another round.
Darlene S Cardillo says
What a lovely tree.. new cat=no tree.
Congrats on the 5k… racing is so fun!!! and even better with a friend.
Happy Hanukkah!!

Happy Hanukkah!
I love all the videos of the cats in the trees. Hilarious for me. Not so much for the owners.
Deborah Brooks says
Happy Hanukkah to your family! You really did get a lot accomplished this week. LOve the nails. Have a great week ahead and Merry Christmas

This is one of my favorite designs of the year! Happy Holiday to you and yours as well!

I seem to have forgotten you’re Newish (or part Jewish?)? Anyway Happy Hannukah! Your tree looks amazing!
Glad the weather didn’t derail your getaway.
Chocolaterunsjudy recently posted…I lied to you: 12/12 – 18 WRD

My stepdad is, so we celebrate with him, and then we do Yule and Christmas. All the celebrations!
Kimberly Hatting says
Happy Hannukah! You certainly had a busy week..great job getting all the fitness worked in!
runswithpugs says
It never seems to end LOL!
Susanne says
What a nice week of running, walking and strength work! Your indoor space with the tree looks nice and cozy! I don’t know if we’ll get a tree this year, we usually have a small one but haven’t seen them around this year.
runswithpugs says
My fire anxiety got the best of me a few years ago, so we splurged on an artificial tree. Best decision.
Marcia says
This time of year is pure chaos. That said I’m all shopped and wrapped. Who am I? We’ll celebrate Hanukkah with the inlaws this week as well. Enjoy the festivities!
runswithpugs says
Haha! I need to lay everything out and start checking things off. With Mr PugRunner down, I’m not super organized.
Debbie says
It sounds like you had a fabulous whirlwind trip away – and I love the snow globe picture of you and Meghan! How fun for A to have his first work holiday party!
Kim G says
I love that you fit in so many holiday things last week – it definitely helps with getting in the spirit.
