are you racing the raptor run 3k? (+ a discount code)

February 1, 2023      5 Comments

I’d love to know if you’re racing the Raptor Run 3K presented by the St. Augustine Alligator Farm with me. This is one of my favorite local races, hosted by my incredible friends at the Alligator Farm, and your support helps some of their amazing conservation program, so it’s all for the best cause!

The Details

The annual Raptor Run 3K takes places on Sunday, March 5 at 8:00AM at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. The catch? Runners (and walkers) are up against a real-live (inflatable) velociraptor in the sprint to the finish line! Does the raptor get a little head start? Yes. But that’s all part of the fun!

What’s Included

Your registration fee includes the following:

  • 3K USATF Certified Course # FL20012JK
  • race t-shirt
  • gorgeous finishers medal
  • swag bag
  • post-race refreshments
  • one complimentary child’s ticket to the Alligator Farm with the purchase of an adult entry
(2022 Raptor Run 3k medals)

Features Of The Course

A 3K is a bit of an unusual distance, but it’s also really fun (and super family-friendly!). The course is really lovely, too, running through Davis Shores, the neighborhood that surrounds the Alligator Farm.

Even though it’s a shorter race, water station are available at the start, finish, and one-mile mark. Stay hydrated!

You can check out my race report from last year here.

Let’s Support The 2023 Conservation Partners

This year, the Raptor Run 3K’s Conservation Partners are  Orianne Center for Indigo Snake Conservation (OCIC) and AZA Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE), partnering to celebrate Eastern indigo snakes.

The Indigo Snake is now listed as a threatened species and OCIC and SAFE work hard to change that by breeding and reintroducing this snake to the wild. Every species has a role to play in our ecosystem, which means it’s vital to overcome challenges like habitat loss, habitat fragmentation, and the decline of Gopher Tortoise communities in order to help Indigo Snakes thrive in our region once again.

Ready To Register + ***DISCOUNT CODE***

In 2023, the Raptor Run 3K caps at 500 entrants, so you’ll want to register soon!

And, thanks to Alligator Farm, I have a discount code to share with the first 20 people to use it to register! Code “RUNSWITHPUGS” will save you 10% on your entry fee!

And don’t forget to get your selfie at the finish line!

Have you ever run a 3K? Have you ever raced a raptor?

Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run.

I worked through some cardio under the blue skies and in the fresh air and then came home to @runsmartofficial’s base building boot camp.

There was A LOT of focus on balance and feet and ankles, as well as ground work in the form of different planks and push-ups.

The movements were small but effective and my legs are certainly burning! It’s going to get harder as we go, but I’m excited to spend more time on my stability and form, to see if it makes me stronger and more efficient over time.

This morning, I started on a new training plan wit This morning, I started on a new training plan with @runsmartofficial. I have a goal race in May, so I am going to see if I can make some improvements along the way.

I can admit that I am built more for distance than speed, but I am taking a crack and improving my pace over the next ten weeks. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏻!

Anyone else starting a new training plan and cycle?

Congratulations to the @staugalligatorfarm for another fantastic event. It was a beautiful morning, with lots of enthusiastic runners and walkers, and we were so happy to be there.

A portion of proceeds went to benefit Orianne Center for Indigo Snake Conservation (OCIC) and AZA Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE), partnering to celebrate Eastern indigo snakes, which makes the race even more important.

🥧 A pie speakeasy? Don’t mind if I do! Head over to @mixedfillingspieshop to see what the ladies have baked up! This chocolate lava pie is absolute perfection!
