What a month this has been, and not in any kind of pleasant way. Welcome to Februarys’ Ultimate Coffee Date.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That we just had one hellish month. Mr PugRunner was admitted to the hospital for a week. While I’m not sharing all the nitty gritty details here, I will share it was a nightmarish experience and he is so lucky to be ok. We will need to keep a tight wrap on things, as far as follow ups and lifestyle are concerned, but it’s not terrible, and he was already adhering to some of the limitations before this all happened.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That as a result, I am just exhausted. My toxic trait is that I am always fine, and the reality is that maybe I am not. I have been trying to make time to do self-care, including and not limited to reading, getting my hair and nails done, and running or walking outside every day. I love these.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That as soon as we get through all his follow up appointments, I’m going to schedule a bunch for myself. I confess that I am not a doctor person, from a long line of not-doctor-people, but you have to do what you have to do.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That as a result of everything, I am so backed up on everything. Everything. I am trying really hard to balance everything, and people have been fantastic, but I still feel a little crushed by a somewhat overwhelming to-do list. I am hoping to get some down time this weekend and recharge enough to get through it.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I am sad to miss out on a lot of upcoming events. I usually host or attend a fun Galentine’s party, but that’s a no go this year. I also am struggling to figure out Super Bowl. I don’t really care about the game, but Mr PugRunner does and I want to make its special for him.
What would you share over coffee? How was your January? Are you rooting for either of the teams playing in the Big Game, or are you just here for puppy bowl and the snacks?

Glad your hubby is going to be ok.
Yes self care is important.
I’m sure February will be a better month
I am flying to Fla on Super Bowl Sunday. I don’t care who wins. Hope the half time show us good.
I’m training for many races so I try to be consistent with my runs. It also keeps my stress level down. January was ok.
So far Feb has been insanely cold. And I do not use a treadmill.

So glad that your husband is doing better and that you know what you need to do. I’m glad you’re getting check ups, too. I have a colonoscopy next week. Womp womp… but needs must. Right?
I don’t care much about the Super Bowl winner. I do like when it’s close so it’s fun to watch.

I will probably go to bed at halftime. I just can’t watch.

Admitting you are not fine is a big step. And it’s okay to not be okay. Better days are ahead.
I’m not a big doctor person either, but I did finally get my yearly blood work done last week. Bit by bit it will get done.
Luckily my husband doesn’t care about the Super Bowl, and I definitely do not! I’m sure you’ll figure out something fun for Mr. Pugrunner.

Hey, Jenn, I’m sorry I missed your coffee date post last weekend, I blame traveling, my red-eye, and covid. 😉
I’m also sorry you are (or were) feeling pressure to get caught up. Your husband and his health are rightfully your top priority and the other things can wait or get by without you.
I’m glad to see self-care is on your list of things to do.
