This month, especially, is a great time to show yourself love. We often forget to take care of ourselves in the hustle and bustle of daily life, so let’s take a moment to be more intentional with our self-love and self-care.
Hydrate
As much as i grumble, drinking your water is an easy and wonderful way to show yourself love. I don’t think we need to over do it, but it’s important to stay hydrated and flush those toxins out. Proper water intake is good for your insides and outsides, so don’t let this slide.
Touch Grass
Sure, that sounds a little sarcastic, but the reality is, getting outside and being one with nature is so great for us, body, mind, and soul. I always feels so much better after a run, walk, hike, or ride in the fresh air. Being outside can center and ground us, which is vital for our overall wellness.
Indulge In A Hobby Or Something You Enjoy
We are always so busy and over scheduled that it can be hard to take a moment to do something you really enjoy. I’m here to say “enough of that!” We need to do the things that make us happy and that’s a great way to show yourself love. Build a puzzle, read a book on the deck, bake a dessert, propagate your plants… whatever puts a smile on your face.
Do Something to Improve Your Self-Confidence
Everyone has different motivators, but I love getting my hair and nails done, and buying new outfits, to help boost my self-confidence. Maybe you’re into a periodic massage or facial. It doesn’t matter. You deserve to feel good.
Give Yourself Permission To Take Care Of Yourself
We live in a world that glorifies productivity and busy-ness. The kindest thing you can do for yourself is give yourself permission to step to the side and just exist for a while. You don’t always have to be “doing.” I know it sounds insane, but listen to your body and give it a try. It might take a little getting used to but you won’t regret it.

So many good ideas! My favorite is let go of “shoulds” and give yourself a break. Should is a word I try not to use. It’s like “I don’t want to but I will because it’s expected of me” – by who?!

Getting outside always makes me happy too! You are lucky to have the weather that allows you to do that all year around.

Yes to all of this – especially giving yourself permission to just be!

Being okay with the “not-doing” is a big thing for me this year. I am so constantly focused on being productive that it is really hard for me to sit. I love your list. Great ideas and all things we should be doing for self-care.

Love, love this! So many great ideas. I also drink later and either watch TV or read a book. Those are my hobbies (besides running). I used to have massages every two weeks but haven’t had one since February 2020. My niece gets her nails done and one day I will join her.

Great post! All these are great, and yes, hydration is so important. And I love your last point- it’s so hard to not feel like I should always be doing something. Why is that? What’s so terrible about actually relaxing for a change?
