As I write this, we are officially on Spring Break, and I have never been more ready. Honestly, Spring Break has always been more about downtime for us, so I don’t have any huge plans. I am very ok with this.
Sunday
- Cardio: Raptor Run 3k
Even though I had the Gate River Run the day before, I couldn’t miss out on the Raptor Run. It’s a 3K. Totally doable. I was tired, and I speed walked with a friend, but the point was showing up for a great cause. Misson accomplished.
We got breakfast with friends, and then came home. To be honest, I was pretty wrecked after the weekend, so just lounged around the rest of the day.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.45 miles, walking
I had already decided this was going to be a walking day. Recovery, or something.
And then i stepped up my game by visiting the Stretch Zone for an assisted stretch. It was my first time trying something like this and I didn’t hate it. The owner, who did my analysis, said I actually had great range of motion, which I loved to hear. But I will be scheduling another appointment soon, because it was really great for my hips.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 3 miles running + 2.05 miles, walking
I felt good enough to attempt a run, and it didn’t feel awful. I was glad for that.
I had errands to run, and a big meeting in the evening, so it was definitely a long day.
Wednesday
- 3.35 miles, walking
Wednesday was a packed day. I started with my walk.
And then i hustled out – I had a photo shoot at a local boutique hotel, followed by lots of trekking around to some different sites in town. Best news, I had some amazing pizza. It’s been literally foreeeeevvvvver.
Happy birthday to sweet Luna who turned three!
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.75 miles, walking
Ugh! Another busy day!
After my walk, I had a meeting, and then an appointment with the dreaded dentist. Oh, it was terrifying. As I’ve mentioned, with Mr PugRunner’s current situation, I have been more mindful about making (and keeping) my wellness appointments. The dentist is an awful one for me, but I went, and held it together. My hygienist was super kind, and the dentist on duty was lovely (there is another one there I really don’t love). No cavities, and the only recommendation was for me to switch to an electric toothbrush. Done.
It was the last day of school before Spring Break, but we did have one last marching band meeting to announce all the details for next year’s show. It’s going to be so exciting and I can’t wait!
Friday
- Cardio: 5.5 miles, running + 1.59 miles, walking
Back in a groove? I would say so?
I rested most of the day. It seemed the right thing to do.
Flat runner ready. Just in case.
Saturday
Cardio: 5 miles, walking
A and I were supposed to go for a long hike this morning, but things got turned around, and so we had to bail on that. Tomorrow is another day.
My parents came over for a late lunch and it was nice to see them.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
I am finally starting to feel a lot better, which is good news. I have a new running plan in the works set up to start next weekend, and things are just moving along, as they do.
Here’s hoping Spring Break goes nicely. I’ve got a few days of work, and then a few days of just chilling out and following my joy, so I’m looking very forward to that.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Do you ever feel like the hits just keep coming?
Marcia says
Sorry things continue to be so stressful for you. I hope you’re able to relax a bit and really enjoy spring break. Ours doesn’t start for a couple more weeks. That’s ok because our weather is still full-on winter here. Ha! Happy birthday to Luna!
runswithpugs says
I’m writing this year off entirely. It’s just trash lol.
Deborah Brooks says
Those stretch places are great! I was going for a while last year. Hope your spring break time is relaxing and low key for you
runswithpugs says
It wasn’t awful. I was really nervous, but once I got in there, it was great.
Jessie says
Kudos for making time for thos wellness appointments! Happy birthday to littel Luna, what a cutie.
I hope you have a relaxing spring break!
runswithpugs says
I have to schedule the OB and a mammogram. Booooo.
Wendy says
I hope you find your zen during spring break. Low-key sounds pretty good to me right now! Be good to yourself!
Happy birthday to Luna! Cocoa’s birthday is next Saturday. She’ll be 7. Where does the time go?
runswithpugs says
Seven!!! No way! That reminds me – we need more Cocoa pics.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Hope your spring break is relaxing and you feel revived.
Can’t wait to hear about your new plan.
Love that you did two races in one weekend. I am living vicariously through you.
runswithpugs says
Yes, and then I was broken for three days lol. Just kidding. I was just very tired.
Kimberly Hatting says
Yay for spring break! I would love to go to one of those stretching-assisted places. My PT did a bunch of that with me recently, and it really helps to get into the “deeper” stretches.
runswithpugs says
Do you have one near you? I recommend trying it out!
Jenny says
I’m glad you’re feeling better! It’s nice to have a low-key spring break before all the crazy end-of-school stuff begins. Yours is early- my daughter’s spring break is next week.
Happy Birthday to Luna! That little face… is there anything cuter???
runswithpugs says
She is such a delight. When she wants to be. She’s actually very much a punk, but I love her to pieces lol.
We usually break over St. Patrick’s Day week. It’s the end of third quarter and we are now in the end of freshman year.
Debbie says
I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing spring break. Being home with no agenda is so relaxing.
runswithpugs says
It is, but now I want things to do! I can’t win lol!
Michelle says
We’re focusing on a low-key spring break too – so needed!
I’m so interested in hearing more about your experience at the Stretch Zone. They just opened a location here and I’m so intrigued.
runswithpugs says
I am writing a post for tomorrow. I really liked it and will be going back.
Coco says
I’m glad the dentist didn’t end up being awful. I like my dentist, but still dread the appointments.
Happy birthday to Luna!
I hope you do enjoy spring break!
runswithpugs says
Every time I go, my anxiety is worse. This hygienist was so kind and gentle – he even offered a topical numbing agent, and I was like “it doesn’t hurt. I just can’t stand the sound and not seeing what you’re doing.” He offered me breaks and was so careful not to crowd my face. II was so grateful.
Cari says
Keeping up with wellness is so hard but so high benefit. Glad you were able to navigate the week and the dentist.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
I hope you are de-stressing this week! That is a very interesting concept at the stretching place! Whenever I see my doctor for an injury and he has me stretch my legs, he comments that I have the flexibility of a hockey player! I’m for sure that is not a great compliment.
Stacie Seidman says
OMG, I feel the same about the dentist! And I have to go next week. Ugh. Glad you made it through okay!
Happy birthday to Luna!!
Kim G says
A low key Spring Break sounds absolutely perfect! Such a great time to slow down and re-charge. You’ve had a very busy and stressful past few weeks so you deserve some down time.!
