After last week’s Spring Break shenanigans, I was grateful for a slightly lighter schedule this week.
Sunday
- Cardio: 3 miles, running + 1.67 miles, walking
So no hike this weekend, but that’s ok. Instead, I did some running, as directed by RunSmartOnline, and a walking cool down.
The boys made their way home after their fun trip in Orlando.
In the afternoon, I had a Yelp Event: Women Run Jacksonville. It was a celebration of incredible women-owned businesses in the area, so part market, part tasting, part incredible venue, all amazing. There were so many goodies, and cool products and services. I was in love with the mimosa wall, and my new tote bag.
You can read my Yelp review of the event here or check out the fun on IG Reels!
Monday
- Cardio: 4.29 miles, running + 2.37 miles, walking
- Cross Train: RunSmart Official BaseSix Day 1
Happy Monday! We are all back to the grind (and not all of us are happy about it). Is it just me, or is it even harder to get out of bed when it’s dark?
A little bit of running followed by a cross training session full of all kind of balance moves (my feet and ankles were burning!) and planks and other hideous things. Of course, it all felt good after the fact.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.54 miles, walking
Every day is a good day to get outside. It’s even better when you can grow a tree.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6 miles, running + 2.69 miles, walking
Are you loving how we go from tights and long sleeves, to just long sleeves to tank and shorts just over the course of a few days. It’s ridiculous. Anyway, it was an ok run.
The majority of my night was spent on an Arts call. They always run pretty long, and I was absolutely ready for bed after.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.19 miles, walking + elliptical, 35 minutes
Per RunSmart, I spent some time on the elliptical. And hated every second. I don’t know why it’s so awkward.
In the evening, I took part in a goodr flamboyance video call. While I don’t usually love video chats, this was great with music and games and lots of high energy!
Friday
- Cardio: 5.00 miles, running + 2.23 miles, walking
TGIF! I was on my own today, so I just headed on out to do my thing. I misread my plan and did five instead of four. Whoops.
Later, we had to take A to his campout. It’s been a while since he went camping with the Scouts, so I was glad for him.
Saturday
Cardio: 3 miles, running + .69 miles, walking
A quick and early run.
As soon as I got home, I had to clean up to take A to work at a karate belt test (and I had to get some photos and content).
And then I brought him to his Scouts campout and service project. He hasn’t been camping in a while, so I’m glad he had the chance. We ended up staying through dinner and dessert, and really having a nice time.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
Although things are definitely busy with deadlines and events, I felt a little more breathing room this week. I am definitely jonesing for another few days o exploring things in my immediate area, and may have he opportunity to do so in a couple of weeks.
My new training plan is… something. It’s a little more intense than what I’m used to doing on my own, butt that’s ok. Nothing good ever happens in the comfort zone, right? I’m not sure I set the most realistic goal, but go big or go home.
This week, A has a “digital learning day” where he doesn’t have to go to school. I have a dinner event, will try a new book club, and am entered in a Bocce tournament. Will I have time to make team shirts? Fingers crossed.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Do you have anything fun on the calendar?

It sounds like such a nice week! That ‘Women Run’ event looks like it was so much fun. You guys have the most fun events in Jacksonville. Enjoy your week!
Marcia Kadens says
Sounds like a busy but fun week. Glad you felt like you had some breathing room. Good to hear A is back to compouts!

It’s definitely hard for me to get out of bed when it’s dark out! So glad you had a better week

Great news for a relaxing week –
still you did a lot… that event looked amazing.
Good luck with your plan…
I’m a kinds go with the flow runner.
I’m interested in how this works for you.

That women’s business event sounds so enjoyable! I wish there could be something like that here!
I’m all for setting big goals with training. I haven’t had the courage to set high goals with running (other than being able to run consistently) after my injuries but I have higher goals with my strength training. I’m glad you’ve had a good relaxed week!
Coco says
It sounds things are looking up for you! I’ve only played bocce a few times but it was fun!

Next week sounds like no east for the weary! Glad you got a breather this week, although the training plan sounds intense!

Yes, the weather really fluctuated here as well. It wasn’t until I was putting together today’s post that I remembered I wore a long sleeve shirt on Monday- that was unexpected.
It sounds like you had a really good week. The training plan does sound intense, but maybe that’s a good thing. Like you said, “nothing good ever happens in the comfort zone.” Good luck with it!

Good job on getting your workouts. Sounds like a fun week!
About 90% of the time I’m up well before the sun and I love it! Of course, I’m the type who bounces up when my alarm goes off and I’m wide awake the second my feet hit the floor.
Your upcoming Bocce tournament sounds like a blast!

“Every day is a good day to get outside.”
Yes, it’s the best “medicine” we can take
Love the mimosa wall!
Kimberly Hatting says
I have maybe a 3-month (?) reprieve from awaking (and rising) in the dark, so it’s not a deal-breaker for me, LOL. That women’s event really looks like fun! Nothing like that happening in my area…you’re lucky to have so many fun opportunities for networking where you are.

It was a really great time!

I now want a mimosa wall in my house – is that a bad thing?
You always have such fun events in your town – I’m jealous! i am hoping that my city will have some cool outdoor events this Summer.
runswithpugs says
No it’s not a bad thing! Can you imagine how fun it would be to have a mimosa wall!

Such an active week but I love that you felt you also had more breathing space! That must have felt great to have run 5 miles instead of 4! An unexpected bonus mile 🙂
runswithpugs says
I love getting those increases
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Did you get to make team shirts for Bocce ball?? I have never played! I hope it went well.
I agree on getting up in the dark. The COLD dark is even worse. I was struggling to get out of bed by 9am when we were camping because our beds were so cozy 🙂
runswithpugs says
I did and they were FABULOUS. This was literally my second time playing. We lost, then won, then lost and were out. Boo.
