I firmly believe that a good dose of Vitamin C cures almost all ills. Vitamin C was the first vitamin I ever took, and it’s the main one I take now. It’s thought to be great for the immune system, iron absorption, healing of wounds, and maintenance of things like bones and teeth. No scurvy for this girl! On National Vitamin C Day, lets talk about how I get my daily dose.
Vitamin C Supplements
The first and obvious way I get Vitamin C is in actual vitamin form. It’s the easiest way to do it. I take one pill a day, for the most part, and that meets my daily needs.
Emergen-C
If there is illness going around or I feel myself dragging a bit, I give myself a boost with Emergen-C. It’s a powder I can mix with water, which serves a dual purpose. First, I get more Vitamin C, and second, it gives me a reason to hydrate. You know how I struggle with that.
Vitamin C Through Foods
Vitamin C shows up in a lot of foods I don’t love (oranges, I’m looking at you), but also in foods I do. Citrus is not my fruit of choice, but Vitamin C pops up in things like strawberries, potatoes, broccoli, brussels sprouts and peppers. I eat all of those things on the regular.
Drinking Vitamin C
If you’ve been with RWP a while, you know I am “particular” about drinks. It is my belief that juice belongs in things like mimosas and cocktails. However, if I am going to drink my Vitamin C, it’s going to be in the form of all-natural, one ingredient juices like this one from Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice.
Vitamin C In Self-Care
Did you know that Vitamin C is great inside and out? I use Vitamin C serums to help brighten my skin. Additionally, I will use citrus essential oils to lift my mood or get some mental clarity (citrus scents really perk me up – there’s no science to it, it’s just how I roll).
Vitamin C Or Vitamin Sea?
That’s right! A little play on words can give us the best Vitamin “C” ever! I’m all in with the waves and the salt air and the fresh air. The benefits of time by the ocean are too numerous to list and I’m always happier after a day by the water.
How do you get your daily dose of C?

I love citrus scents! It reminds me so much of summer. I think you are right about the mood-boosting effect.
I get most of my vitamin C through foods, especially green vegetables like broccoli.

Broccoli and Brussels sprouts are favorites here.

How can a Florida gal not like citrus? 😉
I love oranges and grapefruit but I also eat a lot of broccoli so I guess I am good on vitamin C!

Ha! I’m a Jersey girl at heart! Give me all the strawberries, cranberries and Jersey tomatoes! I do like red grapefruit, but have to be in the mood.

Citrus fruits can be so refreshing, but I definitely enjoy the smell just as much as eating the fruit, lol.
runswithpugs says
I think I like it more 🙂

I get a lot of vitamin C in my diet! Right now I’m addicted to Sumo citrus. Love them.
Jenny says
Ha ha… I’m laughing at “juice belongs in things like mimosas and cocktails.” I don’t drink juice, either. And I don’t eat a lot of fruit, but I do eat vegetables, so I’m pretty sure I get plenty of C that way.
You’re reminding me that I might be deficient in my Vitamin Sea though- I need to get to the ocean soon!
Kimberly Hatting says
I think vitamin C is an easy one to get just by virtue of food. It’s in so many foods, most of which are veggies and fruits that I like (therefore, I get plenty of the “C” without needing a supplement for it). I like oranges, but I don’t eat them very often because they’re so messy…though they do leave my fingers smelling fresh, ha!
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I hate orange juice but will eat oranges in the winter. And this has become a recent thing. As Kim said they can be messy.
I prefer strawberries.
I do try to eat veggies.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Yay for mimosas! 🙂 I take Emergen-C here and there too.
