That’s right! The celebration continues: for us, this is the time of year for milestones, events, and all that jazz. Let’s dig in!
Sunday
- Cardio: 3.58 miles, walking
We woke up to a storm of storms. I was a little nervous because A was out camping, but he was safe, so we just hung out until the weather cleared.
I went out for a walk.
And then we got busy. I had some work before A got home. We left him to clean up his gear and relax a bit while we went to his school’s spring musical (he wasn’t interested). The kids did a great job – I am always amazed at the sheer talent today’s teenagers seem to have.
From there, we picked him up, and joined our friends for a celebratory dinner for him. It was a lovely night and he enjoyed it.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.16 miles, running + 1.69 miles, walking
Happy Monday! I was not super excited about the day.
In fairness, my run was good.
Next up? The dreaded doctor appointment.
And when I was finished there, I was able to escape to “Beer School” at Tepeyolot Cerveceria, to help pick ingredients for the venue’s next brew!
Tuesday
Cardio: 5.19 miles, walking
I felt good after a decent (relieved) sleep. Of course, I was happy to get out to stretch my legs.
In the evening, I had to run a meeting – those are always so draining for me, but wow got through it and were able to move on.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 7.59 miles, running + 1.37 miles, walking
For some reason, my long runs seem to have shifted to Mondays or Wednesdays. while it’s a little strange, I am so glad to get it done, and out of the way.
I also got to see this deer!
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.19 miles, walking
I slept in a little. This week has been kicking my booty with anxiety and deadlines. I’m getting through everything just fine, but it’s also been tough.
I spent the rest of the day really digging in. There was an AP art showcase at the school, and then a BSA meeting with all new programming for the year ahead.
I’ll confess I had an awful night of sleep. The nerves in my foot were on fire, and no matter how I moved, I couldn’t get comfortable. It was terrible.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.14 miles, running + 1.61 miles, walking
This one wasn’t great. I let it go.
There was another art expo for our students at a local hotel, so we popped by there, and then headed to Tijuana Flats for their Cinco de Mayo celebrations!
Saturday
- Cardio: 2.58 miles, walking
I got out for a quick walk.
From there, I took A to the Whitney Labs so he could help out on an Eagle project with his Troop.
We had to leave early for a reservation at the newly opened Sugar Factory in town. More birthday fun!
Thoughts + Goals
I feel like I was more active this week than last, which improved my mood.
To be honest, I’m just white-knuckling through the next few weeks. We have my birthday, A’s last concert, Mother’s Day, finals, a band banquet, and so much more. I barely have time to breathe, let alone run, but we make it happen.
I’m looking forward to a few new opportunities this week, as well. I’ll keep you posted if things go well! Wish me luck!
How was your week? Do you have a Sugar Factory near you?
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Happy birthday to my twin.
Another busy week but you always manage to get your fitness activities in.

Happy birthday to your son! Every run cannot be good but looks like you had a few that were this week. Always feels good to move your body daily

Looks like you had a fun week! I know it was busy (this time of year is crazy!) but you got out for a run or walk every single day. And you got the doctor’s appointment over with. Good luck with your “new opportunities”- I hope we get to hear all about it!

Well, I still have to manage the physical. But it’s scheduled so I will go!

Always a busy week for you–looks like a lot of fun! I can’t get over how healthy Mr Pug Runner looks. I hope he’s doing well!

He’s doing really well. We met with the nephrologist again today and his numbers are stable. Yay. They will never improve, sadly, but it was nice to see they didn’t get worse. We see cardiologist next month, PCP again in July and then nothing until November.

Looks like a fun week – this time of year is always extra busy, isn’t it?! You did a great job staying active with a run or walk every day.
I hope the next couple of weeks go smoothly for you

Same here! I really need a clear path!

I can’t believe you went to the school musical without A — that’s dedication!
Sound like a busy but fun week. Your Cinco de Mayo dinner looks amazing!

Since I’m on the Arts Boosters BOD, I feel like I need to show my face at some of the non-band events. I went to an AP art showing and a portfolio art gallery, both put on by the students, and I would be going to tomorrow’s chorus concert if it wasn’t my birthday and I didn’t have plans. Our students have scored so many awards and achievements, I really love to support them.
Tijuana Flats is a local chain and it’s always solid and delicious.

May is such a busy month for parents, but it sounds like you’re fitting it all in. I was going to say the same thing Coco said about going to a school musical that you didn’t have to go to, but I have to admit, I’d have skipped it.

Our school has been turning out amazing shows. Plus, I’m a director on the Boosters, so I feel like I should make an appearance to some of the other arts disciplines. I do the social media for the entire umbrella of the arts department so it’s good for me to keep up with what’s going on.

We don’t have a Sugar Factory – but it sounds right up my alley!! I love anything to do with sugar ha. Good for you for getting in your long runs early in the week – I have been doing that a lot lately and can’t complain! May is such a busy month here for us too – between end of school year activities, sports (for the kids), my half marathon and 5k race, my daughter’s birthday and an upcoming out-of-town work trip it’s going to fly by! Nice job with all the walking and running this week despite it all.

Good luck (and happy birthday eve). I think,it’s nice to put my long run in wherever (when I’m running). Sorry about the trouble with your foot!

What a busy but fun week for you! I’ve heard of Sugar Factory but I think the nearest one to me is in NYC.
Happy early birthday!

Great week, and glad things are going well health-wise. Always love your beach and sunset pictures! A whole different world than rainy London!

Such a crazy time of year, especially with a high schooler!
There is a Sugar Factory at the casino that’s somewhat near me, but I haven’t been yet. I keep forgetting about it but I really want to check it out!
Happy Birthday!!!

Way to go on sticking to a routine with so much going on! I always feel that keeping that routine up and moving my body always helps to get through stressful times!
