Well, the heat is on in Florida, in so many ways. I am currently trying to figure out how to get some of our winter temps back in my life, because this humidity is absolutely crushing. Oh, well. That’s how it goes in the south.
Also, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures out there! This is our day!
Sunday
- Cardio: 4.02 miles, walking
Happy Sunday! This was the start of a pretty hectic week, so of course, I walked out all feelings.
It was also Luna’s Gotcha Day! Look at how little she was!
Monday
Cardio: 5.90 miles, running + 2.32 miles, walking
Mondays always seem to come hard and fast. Just like the temperatures.
Also coming hard and fast? The end of school. And marching band season. We started mini band camp on Monday and the kids are already learning their visual routine and music. A is a co-leader of his section and really working hard to make it great.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.09 miles, walking
Happy 46th birthday to me! Of course, the day started with fitness.
I got a tostada and cafe con leche from my favorite Cuban breakfast spot, and then we went to the Cummer Museum for their “Flamboyance” exhibit, made up of flamingo topiaries. It was so pretty.
From there, we had lunch and a dinner with friends. There was no cooking, and lots of good times. Big thanks to Mr PugRunner for organizing everything.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.91 miles, running + 2.61 miles, walking
Back to reality. It was literally ten degrees hotter in the morning than earlier this week. Gross. There was just nothing good about this.
I also had a great meeting with a potential new client! It will be a beautiful partnership if all goes well!
Thursday
- Cardio: 4 miles, walking
Another hot day.
In the evening, A had his final concert of the year. It was amazing. We heard from the jazz band, the percussion ensemble, the symphonic band, the wind ensemble and everyone all together. The last piece was “The Force Awakens” and the flute section handed the conductor a light saber to use. It was hysterical, especially when two students engaged in a light saber battle while everyone else was playing.
Friday
- Cardio: 4.5 miles, walking
Honestly? Ew. At least I looked cute.
Some of my friends and I went back to the Sugar Factory to celebrate the May birthdays. It was so much fun!
Saturday
- Cardio: Black Knight DONNA Mother’s Day 5K
Why did I decide that it would be a great thing to race the morning after a night out? Who knows! But it was a fun race – full details on Wednesday for the Runners’ Roundup!
Afterwards, we had breakfast, and then we went to get new phones. OMG, the photo quality is out of this world. I can’t wait to take my pics to the next level.
In the afternoon, I helped set up for the end of year band banquet, and then came back to enjoy. We had a yummy meal and an awards ceremony. A was called up as Outstanding Freshman Woodwind In Marching Band. His director called him a “prodigy” and I about burst into tears with pride.
Thoughts + Goals
And that’s a wrap. This week, I am hoping to get back to strength. I know, I always say that. But I mean it this time. I have my physical on Friday, which won’t be fun, but it’s a step in the right direction for my overall health and wellbeing.
Also, I say it all the time, but I am so proud of A this year. I don’t know how it’s happened, but he really has jumped all in to his music and I love it. Next year is going to be awesome.
How was your week? Are you in chaos mode?
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Looks like you had an awesome birthday celebration! You know I love me some flamingos–those topiaries make me want to fly down to see them!
We were in chaos mode and poof! It’s all over. Right now it’s raining and I’ve got my feet up. Feels good.

Wow! Congrats to A on his outstanding freshman award! Their band program must be super serious- our high school doesn’t start any band camp activities till the last week of July.
Yes, the heat. I did a trail run on Wednesday thinking “How hot could it be?” Turns out the answer was, TOO hot. It’s going to be a looooooong summer.

Congrats on race! Can’t wait to hear how it went.
I just got bad from Florida… how can you possibly run in all that heat and humidity!?
Kimberly Hatting says
Oh yes, I have some chaos going on at the moment, LOL. Those flamingo topiaries are awesome. My relay team (our big relay is Saturday) has a flamingo theme this year. It’s gonna be a bit obnoxious, but oh-so-fun!

great fun and exciting week!! even with yuck humidity. can I just say how gorgeous you are in that photo of you and Mr PugRunner??
we had only stress last week really. I would have welcomed chaos instead to be quite honest with you. I feel like it’s going to start to get a bit chaotic because we have so many things coming up. why do I plan or say yes to so many things??? Don’t people know I actually really LIKE to stay at home? LOL!
