That’s right! We did it! We got through the last days of school and the end of the year, and here we are! It’s time to enjoy the next two months, and we can’t wait! How was this last week? Let’s talk about it.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.51 miles, walking
It was just a regular Sunday, that started with a regular walk.

A attended one of his friends’ graduation parties. And then we collected him and had an early dinner with my parents to celebrate Mother’s Day and my birthday. My mom has a kind of wonky schedule, so it can be hard to find a good time. We do our best.
Monday
- Cardio: 6 miles, running + 1.93 miles, walking
For some reason, I have some pep in my step on Mondays. It ended up being a solid, if humid, run.

A had one official final exam at school, so off he went. The whole week promised to be a string of early releases, with not much else going on.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.22 miles, walking
I got in some miles knowing that rain was coming. Ew.

Then I had breakfast with a friend I haven’t seen in AGES. I was so happy.
We ended up letting A stay home. Both teachers for the two periods he had that day said that his grades were final, and they wouldn’t be doing anything in class.
Not to worry, though, it was not a day of nothingness! Both of us volunteered at the evening’s graduation ceremony, selling flowers and other souvenirs. Our schools are too big to hold graduations on campus, so our district’s schools split up among local theaters. It’s crazy. It was also the first graduation in our school’s history, so that was kind of cool. It was a long night, but I got to see our friend walk across the stage, so that was awesome!
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.03 miles, running + 1.24 miles, walking
Understandably, J didn’t make it to our run, since it was her daughter who just graduated. That’s ok. It was sort of gross out and she would have hated every second.

Client meeting in the morning, followed by a Booster meeting in the evening. A stayed home again. I also did quite a bit of online shopping. We have some trips coming up, and I had some gift cards.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.58 miles, walking
Storms keep threatening, making everything super humid. I hate it.

Officially, it was the last day of school, so officially, I sent him in. He had one class, but that teacher has been difficult to read since she started a few months back, and I wanted to make sure that if there was a last-minute test or assignment, he would receive credit. Poor kid went in at 9:30 and was out before 11. What a life!
To celebrate, we went out to lunch. At this point, I was feeling awful from my new meds, and honestly, I’m still not 100%. Timing on this is terrible.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.42 miles, running + .55 miles, walking
In spite of feeling like poop, I managed a quick run.

This next bit is hilarious. We had plans for a beach morning with A’s karate dojo. The owners invited staff, tournament team, and parents to attend. Since A is staff, and they are my client, we thought it would be nice to go. The weather did not agree.
But we pushed ahead, and made it to the beach. When I tell you it was freezing and the wind was whipping… We could see the sand blowing (it stung our legs and got in our eyes), and the waves were rough. Bringing a hoodie was the smartest thing I did that day. We toughed it out for a while (the kids were digging holes, and splashing and being such incredible sports about the whole thing), but finally beach patrol pulled up and was like “Listen. This is silly. Why don’t you head over to the concession pavilion and finish your excursion there?”
And so we did, with a picnic lunch. Despite the elements, it was a really nice time.

Two of the students who have attended classes and worked at the dojo just graduated high school, so it was nice to say goodbye to them, as well. And A actually went out with one of them to do some last minute shopping and have dinner after our beach time was over.
I spent the rest of the night hitting a deadline.
Saturday
- Cardio: 3.9 miles, walking
I. Slept. In. I am exhausted and still not feeling great, and we have a huge weekend ahead of us.

Tonight we have M’s graduation party. Tomorrow, we have our friend’s 50th birthday celebrations, and Monday, I have my 10 year anniversary 5k. It’s a lot!
Thoughts + Goals
No strength again, but there was no time. Now that school is out, the schedule may be a little more clear. It’s funny: I don’t have to be up as early to get A anywhere, but also, it’s too hot to NOT get up early to run or walk outside. Sigh.
This week, I have a few more client meetings, my mammogram, and a couple of events. I am going to spend some time making some videos and content, and planning things for our upcoming mini-vacations.
Fingers crossed that my race goes well and I can look ahead to the next one!
How was your week?
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

It’s always so busy this time of year! Now hopefully you can kick back a bit and take it easy. Easier, lol. I know you like to fill your time. Be patient with the meds. You will feel better. PM me if you need to chat.
Thanks. I may take you up on that. It’s frustrating. I just want to feel “normal” and it’s so hard.
Looks like a solid week of running and fun for you. I also have a pep in my step on Mondays. Have a good one 🙂
Yay for Mondays!
Yes! It feels so good to be done with school! i agree though- we can’t sleep in too much or we’ll perish in the heat.
Good luck on your race! I hope you have fun and I hope the week ahead is a little more relaxing for you.
So annoying. I don’t mind it on my walk days, but definitely on my run days.
As much as I love the freedom of finally running in a skirt (some days, one day I was still in leggings!), I hate the constant early mornings in Summer between trying to get my run in & Bandit walked before it’s too hot. He, OTOH, thoroughly enjoys his pre breakfast walks (for now).
You are getting done what you need to. You’re doing your best (which is very good); that’s all any of us can do!

Yup. Fortunately, the guys are super helpful with the dogs – I told them it’s not fair that I am already getting up at like 5 to get in a run before the sun. If I have to do the dogs, too, it’s even earlier.
Then again, the pugs hate the walk.
Bummer the meds are feeling icky so far…hopefully that will change for the better in time. That day at the beach sounds miserable…says the gal who would LOVE to have access to a beach, LOL.
I think you would not have loved this lol.
I had to stop the meds. I have too much going on to feel this way right now. Maybe when the boys are gone and I can just sit around in pajamas and not have to be out and about.

Ah, sorry about the weather on beach day. Usually your weather seems like nothing but sunshine! Good luck with the new meds, hoping you feel normal soon.
LOL. It was absolute garbage! I kept laughing (on the inside) that nobody wanted to be the one to cancel.
It’s great to start the week with some pep in your step — especially with all you had going on!
I’m glad A had such a great year at school!
LOL on (basically) getting kicked off the beach. Being pelted by sand is no fun!
He really did. I can only hope it continues.
I know. It was pretty ridiculous.
Awwe that sucks about the bad weather for the beach day 🙁 But it looks like you made the best of it.
It was absolutely ridiculous! Do NOT recommend.
Hope you feel better soon… and things calm down… you’re doing great fitting it all in…
GL on your race today. Can’t wait to hear how it went.
It was really great. I was tired, but I’m glad I did it.
congrats on making it until the end. Sorry to hear that your new meds are making you feel like poop. it can tae some time to adjust. weird how something that is supposed to make you feel better makes you feel like crap in the beginning. Crazy day at the beach too – smart you had the hoodie with you!!
You are a trooper for pushing through so much when you’re not feeling great. Congrats to A on all the end-of-school stuff. We are in our lazy days of summer mode too, except I’m working a ton. What a bummer about that beach weather.
