We are really just cruising through this year, aren’t we? It’s incredible that we are now enjoying coffee in July and working our way through the summer. Let’s share our coffee talk!
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I have been looking forward to this week for a long, long time. I’ll be getting the last of my Mother’s Day/birthday gift! As you can imagine, this has been a hard and chaotic year, and even though there has been some fun, I’ve been struggling without having some big things I can look forward to. Any guesses? It’s an experience gift and I am giddy for it!
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
My need to wander is in overdrive. I have a mental list running of all the places I want to go, and I am ready to just pack a bag and be on my way. Obviously, there are commitments and responsibilities keeping me back, but that won’t keep me from getting out there.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
Band season is just about back. To be honest, it never really stopped (the kids have been in small clinics since June), but we are gearing up for two and a half weeks of dedicated camp, and it’s going to be great. A is so excited for the show this year, his big solo, and the promise of more cool things ahead. It’s going to be wonderful.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I am really over this heat. Summer is one thing, but this is just insane. There’s no getting away from it. Once 10 AM hits, it’s really just too hot to want to do anything, even things like the pool and the beach. Ick.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I am so looking forward to the structure that will come with the new school year. I don’t always do well with less scheduling, and I start to crave a bit of form to my days. Things should start coming together soon.
What would you tell me over coffee?

Oh I hear ya on the heat and humidity. We have it here too. I was in Florida last week and it really bothered me more than usual. I was exhausted by mid day. I am suppose to be back in Florida next week and I am actually reconsidering…lol
I am excited for you to collect on your mother’s day/ birthday gift. Is it a trip? Whatever you will be doing, enjoy! ~M
runswithpugs says
It is a trip! To Orlando! Wheeee! Yeah, it’s just miserable here. Yuck
Deborah Brooks says
I am there with you on the stresses of this year. It really does take a toll on both the person and the people they love. I feel you on the heat-ugh it’s not my season at all. I also thrive on schedules and feel off when I vary from mine too. Enjoy your birthday gift!
runswithpugs says
Hopefully we get some coolness soon. I need it.
I had a great time for my bday gift!
Jenny says
My daughter also starts band camp (for high school) later this month. Very exciting!
Yes, it’s been even hotter than usual this summer (who even knew that was possible?) and I feel it every time I step outside. Our AC can’t even keep up with it, which makes me cranky. We need more rain! At least that give our AC a break.
Are you traveling this summer? It seems like everyone is taking amazing trips- all I did was drive up to Tallahassee, and soon I’ll be driving with my son to Texas, where we’ll get a nice break from the heat. JUST KIDDING. The whole trip will be one long swelter-fest. I need to go to Alaska.
runswithpugs says
Our AC is hanging in there, bless it. it’s just so hot.
We did Orlando and will do Atlanta. The boys went to New Mexico. I’m bummed it’s nothing more extravagant, but we are getting a big one for Spring Break.
Wendy says
I think you feel the same about summer as we do about winter! I’m all about moderate weather. lol
As much as I hated for summer to come to an end, I always liked the return to routine.
runswithpugs says
Let’s hear it for moderation! and normalcy!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I can’t stand the heat. Looks like Florida has it rough this year!
I hope you enjoy your birthday gift – you deserve to be spoiled!
runswithpugs says
It’s so bad. I am just sweating all the time now.
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I can’t complain about the heat because you have it worse.
I need less structure. 8-4 job. Boo.
Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your gift. Hope you are having fun this weekend.
runswithpugs says
you can still complain! Hot is hot!
This weekend was so fun.
Michelle says
This summer has been insane – hard to enjoy when things are this hot…sigh. I don’t know how you do it in Florida!
I have to admit I like the structure of the school year too – while it’s nice to have a break by the time school rolls around I’m itching for more order in my life!
Enjoy the rest of your gift 🙂
runswithpugs says
we don’t have much of a choice. we need to get out early and get it done.
Kimberly Hatting says
We had temps in the 90’s early this week, then the temps took a nose dive the past two days. It was 51F this morning for my run! Total yuck on that in July, LOL.
runswithpugs says
Oh, no! 51 sounds lovely!
Coco says
School starts back so early for you! August is still a vacation month around here, so I feel like summer is just starting.
We got hit with the heat and humidity this week — and rain storms nearly every day that make it even steamier.
I’m not sure I can guess your gift — I’ll have to wait and see!
runswithpugs says
August 10! It’s awful! But we get out so early, too.
Renée says
I would not be able to handle the Florida heat + humidity. nooooo thank you.
Tell me more about where you would like to go! I just love going to other places to run or bike. We had a staycation and now I have to wait 8 weeks before our next trip.
runswithpugs says
OMG. I want to go everywhere. Banff. Seattle/Portland. Where you live. Ireland. Iceland. Greece. Alaska. Japan. Australia. Literally, just give me my passport and a suitcase and I’ll see you later.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I also do not like Summer. Add humidity to it and it is yucky! You need to move where it isn’t so hot. 🙂 I like Summer Break but also want it to be August so I can have a schedule and my normal routine.
runswithpugs says
I know. I am pulling for the mountains so badly.
Marcia says
I love how excited A is about band! That was once the case for my daughter but no longer. She won’t even do marching band next year and it makes me sad. Have so much fun enjoying your Mother’s Day gift!
runswithpugs says
He is obsessed. They are putting together an indoor winds group this year, and we are just along for the ride.
Farrah says
I’m definitely with you there on wanting to travel! There are so many places I’d like to go to!
I like having some structure/routine to my days as well (but definitely enjoy the free time too) — I get so much more done that way!
