The runfessional is open, even though it’s obscenely hot. July was absolutely brutal and I am not sorry to put it in the rearview mirror. It’s amazing I have the energy to do even that.
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That my motivation is a big, fat ZERO. I have NO desire to get up early so that I can go run, or even walk. I just don’t want to do it. Am I? Yes. I’m dedicated like that. But it’s just gross out there. Yuck.
I runfess…
That my mileage has absolutely dropped off. It’s discouraging because I was thinking about trying for another half marathon this year, but it feels like I have so much to rebuild. Obviously, I’m stuck in this soul-sucking vortex of heat, which is probably really messing with my head, but right now, running anything more than 5Ks seems almost impossible.
I runfess that…
Now that we are traveling again, I am so freaking happy. I have missed having experiences, and between the rest of the summer, and marching band season, we have some opportunities to get away. We’ve also booked Mr. PugRunner’s 50th birthday trip, and I am looking forward to it, so much. It’s a little early to start planning specifics, but I am chomping at the bit.
I runfess…
That sometimes, I wish we were closer to the ocean. We went kayaking on Sunday, and it was so nice. Yes, the water was bathtub warm, but it was good to have an “active date” and get back to some of our normal adventures. It’s been too long and I miss that.
I runfess…
That I have mixed feelings about school starting back up. The summer has been so long, but also not long enough. Isn’t that always the way? I think I talked about getting back to the routine, which I love, but it will also be a lot. It’s going to be so busy for the next few months, and we have all new leadership with the arts, for better or worse. However, I’m excited for what’s to come, no matter what role I’m invited to play.

Honestly I don’t know how you run in that heat. It was like a freaking oven when we were in Tampa/Gainesville/Tallahassee a couple of weeks ago. I’d be on the treadmill for sure.
Hooray for some fun travel coming up!
Senior year starts here soon. I swear if I blink I’ll miss it!

I can’t stand the heat here – I agree with Marcia – I don’t know how you do it! Maybe hit a treadmill for some of your training? That’s what I would do!

I’m holding on by a thread in this heat so I really don’t know how you do it!
Glad you have some fun travel plans coming up – Enjoy!!

Ooh, the Mr’s 50th! How fun to be planning for that!
Honestly, it’s hard to get excited for running when it’s gross out. Hopefully the weather will break soon.

I don’t even have the right to complain because it’s not so hot here, but the humidity has been STIFLING. And when I’m not soaking wet from sweat because it’s so humid, I’m soaking wet because it’s raining – again. And every time I have a run on the schedule I think “I’m not going to make it” yet somehow I do. That’s what we do.
it all goes so fast, and with fun things in between before we know it it’s back to routine! I’m glad you are having some good times and adventures in between the yuck. Can’t wait to hear about Mr PR’s birthday planning!!!

Our summer has been warm, like usual, but last week was outrageously hot & humid for so many consecutive days. Of course, now that RAGBRAI is over and done for another 51 weeks, the temps have dropped, LOL

Traveling definitely can lift your spirits! Wish I could.
Even up here running has not been pleasant (until this week for a few days).
