Well, we went from “I can’t believe it’s New Year’s” to “I can’t believe summer is over” But here we are. And from here we must go.
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That I am TIRED. Like really tired. I don’t know if it’s age (I’m not THAT old), the heat, or just a sudden uptick in responsibilities, but ugh. Ya girl wants a nap. We have had some stressful things at home, the start of school, a memorial service, and just some exhausting things. I am sleeping better than I was a few months ago, when I was regularly waking up at 3AM in a straight panic, but I still want a weekend of just nothing to do.
I runfess…
That I am loving my new client! They are so fun and open to ideas. This is definitely a huge boost in motivation for me and I am having some really big ideas about future projects.
I runfess…
That I missed band season. I am so excited for competitions to start! The kids played so well at the game last week, and they are going to do great things in the upcoming weeks. Sidenote: every day I am more and more impressed by A’s leadership and continued ability to put himself out there, especially when trying new things. I wish I had 1% of his confidence.
I runfess…
That I have been making a lot of deals with myself in order to complete goals. Most recently, I told myself that if I do some strength every day for a month, I’m going to go register the family at the nearby YMCA. Well. I am on Day 11 and going strong. Do I hate it? Yes. Have I convinced myself I will like it better in a “real” gym setting. Also, yes. I’m a hopeful creature. But my motives aren’t entirely selfish. Mr PugRunner could use some variety and it would be fun for A, too. A lot of the kids use the Y, so it would be nice socializing when band practice is over.
I runfess…
That I’m in a bit of a spiral right now. There are so many things I want to do and need to do and that a can make it difficult to focus appropriately. I’ve just been taking everything very cautiously (I hate being disappointed, so I’ve reigned in behaviors and activities so I can always just gauge situations before immersing myself), and I’m finally feeling that tension ease. My brain is a little staticky right now but I am getting myself back to focused.
What do you have to runfess?

I joined the Y too… I admit I do not love working out. In fact, I’ve gone so many years not doing it that I feel that it is not necessary.
But I am making myself go…. it can’t hurt and I will not spend the $$ if I don’t do.
It’s hard to not be tired if you work, have kids and a social life. Add in working out and running… you are justified to be tired.

I’m with you on feeling tired, and on sometimes feeling like I’m in a bit of a spiral! Have to remind myself not to be so tough on myself, but also to take the small steps needed to reduce some of the tension I feel. I tend to procrastinate and that only makes things worse!
I’m happy you have a great client – that can make all the difference in the world!

The heat definitely makes me tired let’s go with that! I have been making sleep more of a priority and it’s helping me a lot all around. Way to go with your strength training you can do it. Some people thrive in the group fitness setting and perhaps you will too!

It seems like you have a lot going in so being tired is natural. I hope you can get some rest, too!
Excited to hear about your new client. I’m doing a new freelance project and it’s fun and challenging, too. Good for fall!
Good luck with your gym goal!

Great job on the focused strength training! It took me awhile to embrace it (14 years ago), but I can’t live without it now. Same with biking, LOL. Now, if I could just get my sleep schedule on track….

Good for you for sticking with the strength training – I know it’s not your favorite. Hopefully joining the Y will help!
I hope you are able to find a way to give yourself a break and get some rest – it can be so hard with so much going on.
Great to hear about your new client!

Well, you know I’m all for you joining the Y. I think you would all enjoy it! You could go to the gym together.
The heat really is exhausting. Plus the start of school is always a hard transition. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now- I’m not surprised you’re tired.
I love the updates on A. Band is SO GOOD for them!!! I can’t wait till our football games start.

Back to school is such a busy time of year! I hope you do carve out some down time for yourself so you don’t burn out!

Good for you for being consistent with the strength workouts! It will pay off and it’s a mood booster too. Have so much fun with marching band season!
