Well, it’s come to that time: the time to unveil my word for 2024. I’ve been choosing words for several years, now, and it’s kind of a fun touchstone to start the year. Are you ready for it?
Drumroll, please…
My 2024 word of the year is… CONSISTENT.
Here’s where you say, “but Jenn, surely this can’t be right! You run every day! You are the model of consistency!” And I’ll stop you right there. Yes. I am very good at regular workouts, but I also have a lot of false starts. I have some really great ideas rattling around in my brain, and I let them slide quite frequently. We can blame the fact that I am easily distracted and overwhelmed, but placing blame doesn’t fix the problem.
My workouts are CONSISTENT
This we know. I run three to four days a week, and walk the other days, plus spend four days in the gym working on strength. I mentioned wanting to add in a cardio dance class or a yoga session, but in the meantime, I will keep on pushing with my current regimen. It’s working.
My engagement needs to be more CONSISTENT
I have a healthy social media following, but I’d like to grow. In 2024, I will be more consistent in sharing Stories and Reels, as well as commenting and engaging with everyone. It’s something I put off every day, and then fall asleep before I manage it. Not so in the new year!
I want to be more CONSISTENT in my actions
My intentions are almost always good. Great, even. But then I start something and fail to finish. Ugh. This year, I’m going to be more mindful and CONSISTENT about sharing my quest for 50 books in a year, uploading recipe and more specific workouts, and staying on top of all my blogging. I’ve been great about it the last month, and that needs to CONSISTENTLY continue.
Being CONSISTENT in pursuit of my goals is a must
The theme of this post is how I let things go by the wayside. Therefore, I plan to be more CONSISTENT in keeping up with my goals. My imposter syndrome and anxiety play a huge role in me freezing up and getting stuck in inaction, and that has to stop. I acknowledge this flaw, and plan to overcome it.
My communication needs to be more CONSISTENT
If you know me well, you know that I will drop off the face of the earth sometimes. Usually, it’s when things are (for me) unbearably difficult, and I can’t stand being around myself, let alone others. It’s a bad habit, and I’m sorry to those who get to deal with my bizarre vanishing. Deep down, I can’t stand being vulnerable, so I feel that hiding away is the best option. Then too much time passes, and I get embarrassed that I’ve gone radio silent. It’s a ridiculous cycle, and I know better. Therefore, brace yourselves, but I will be more CONSISTENT in my communication, because I can’t just ghost when times get tough.
And there you have it. I’ve got a plan to be CONSISTENT in 2024! What do you think?
What is your word for 2024?
Link Up With Tuesday Topics
This year, I am joining up with Zenaida, of The Running Teacher for Tuesday Topics! I am so honored to be carrying on the role from Kim, at KookyRunner, and I hope that I live up to her running blog shoes! Check out our new graphic!
And here are the topics for the year! Feel free to use these for inspiration, or write your own! All we ask is that you join the link up, comment on your hosts’ posts, and then comment on at least two others. It’s a great way to share the love!

This is a great goal, Jenn! I think I could use a bit more consistency in my life, too!
I find that with me, it’s also a question of prioritizing properly – there are only 24 hours in a day and I can’t do everything.
I am sure that your word will serve you well! I am looking forward to reading how you benefited from it at the end of 2024!

YES! That’s a huge issue! We need more hours LOL!
Another mark of consistency: will I blog about it at the end of the year? LOL! Last year, my word was “worthy” and honestly, it wasn’t a great year for that ideology. Sigh.
Wendy says
Consistency is a great goal and something I strive for in my training. I’m looking forward to seeing how things go for you this year. Happy New Year!
runswithpugs says
Same. I get very excited about new projects and then let them slide. My first trick of 2024? I’ve got more than a week of blog posts written and scheduled! Who am I?
Darlene S. Cardillo says
A great goal. Important for all things in life.
My word is Joy.
Coming in another post.
runswithpugs says
I love that word.
Debbie says
Being consistent in all aspects of our lives can be hard to achieve and I applaud you for focusing on it in 2024. I tend to let something slide when other things take precedence. Good luck with your goal!
runswithpugs says
I already feel like I’m not making it happen, but that’s ok! More than 350 days to get it together!
Jenny says
Consistency trumps all else! You hear coaches say it all the time- just be consistent. It’s a great word of the year for you (well, for all of us!) We should all keep it top of mind. Good luck with your 2024 goals- I can’t wait to see how the year plays out for you.
runswithpugs says
Yes, yes, yes! I hope it’s a great year for us all!
Michelle says
Consistency is a great word – and theme for the year. I know I could use more consistency in a number of areas in my life…never feels like there’s enough time for everything. Cheers to a great 2024 and reaching your goals!
runswithpugs says
yes. I absolutely need more time.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great word! I LOVE it! I am glad to be following along to see you achieve your goals.
