I am very much a person who needs to look to the future, and when the future holds excitement, I’m a very happy Jenn. This year, things are looking up and cautious optimism has me pretty darn thrilled. What’s coming up? I’d love to tell you.
First Up? The Springs.
As you read this, I’ll be heading to central Florida to check out everyone’s favorite water potatoes: the manatees. Manatees love warmth, so when winter comes, they float their way into the natural springs, where the clear water stays at a balmy 72ºF year round. Chilly for us? Sure. But not so for these chubby mermaids. On Friday, the count was 677 manatees at one of the locations, and I hope we get to see as many!
Heading To The Big Easy!
We are counting down to New Orleans and I am absolutely stoked! That being said, I am also overwhelmed: there are so many things to do and not enough time! I have this crazy schedule I keep adding to, because I don’t want to miss a single thing. It’s going to be so great to explore this next adventure. If anyone has any recommendations, please send them my way!
“It’s An Old Song… And We’re Gonna Sing It Again”
Also in just a few weeks, we are going to see “Hadestown”! I am absolutely obsessed with this show, and I am beyond excited that we have tickets. Our schedule makes it hard to commit to an entire theatre season, but when something really amazing comes through, I try really hard to get to see it. “Six” is also coming to Jacksonville a little later this season, but between the two, I wanted “Hadestown.”
Road Tripping To Meghan
Every so often, I get to take a little road trip to see my Meghan. It’s been more than a while, due to scheduling and circumstances, and we are so long overdue. We will be having lots of fun and adventures, as we always do. And she has tempted me with a 3 foot taco board, so… you know this is going to be good. Stay tuned.
A Brunch A Month
I have instituted a new series in my home: A Brunch A Month. It’s very simple. Once a month, we will go to brunch. We completed January’s on Sunday, and we have February’s scheduled in New Orleans, but from there, we each picked five places and we will randomly choose where to go. The only requirement was that the restaurant of choice had to have a specific brunch menu. On Sunday, we went to The Oaxaca Club for a Mexican style brunch. I had a mezcal cocktail instead of a mimosa, and huevos rancheros for the first time! Everything was outstanding and so fresh.
What’s coming up in your future? Do you like brunch? Ever see a manatee?

Well, this IS exciting! I love to make plans for the future! It creates positive vibes and I love the anticipation.
I’ve seen manatees in Naples, FL, while we were out on our paddle boards. They were amazing!
I’ve never heard of Hadestown – I’m going to google it right now!

You have a lot of fun things going on this year! I love manatees, and I am jealous of your trip to see them! Your trip to New Orleans should be a lot of fun and I love the “brunch a month” you and your husband are doing, so fun. Looking forward to following your journey this year!

I would like a three foot taco board.
That is all.

I’ve never seen manatees and laughed at the reference to water potatoes. I love the idea of a brunch – I would do something similar but would pick breakfast or lunch. I am not a big fan of brunch.

Ooh, you have a lot of fun travel coming up! I hope you’re seeing manatees as I’m writing this.
I LOVE brunch! I might steal you idea, but instead of going out for brunch I would make brunch once a month. Something different than what I usually make… I’ll have to think about this!

THERE WERE SO MANY AND I WANTED TO HUG THEM ALL!
I’ve come to hate cooking at home just because of the diet restrictions and tedium of some of the recipes. If Im’m having special food I want it to be stuff I can’t or won’t make. Plus, we need date days, so it covers all the bases.

My brunch each Saturday takes precedence over my run. LOL
I saw manatees at that same place. I do want to see them again.
I’ve visited New Orleans but long ago and before I was a runner… so need to go there again.
I’ve also seen Hadestown on Broadway – enjoy!

I’m in a brunch phase.
I would like to go to Crystal River, but that’s a little far for a day trip. This was perfect.
I went to New Orleans right at the end of or right after college. But it was hard core Mardi Gras and that changes things.
I am so excited for Hadestown.
