After the longest January to ever January, we find ourselves here, in lovely February for our Ultimate Coffee Date. It’s cold, but you know I’m still steadfastly enjoying iced coffees every day. I just can’t help myself.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I’d tell you…
That I am en route to the Big Easy and I have no idea what to pack. The forecast keeps shifting around, sometimes colder, and then warmer. There is some rain predicted, but then also clear skies. Ugh.
I’d also share that…
Meghan and I had a mini girls’ trip, which ended up being the best time! Even though it was literally 24 hours, it was just what we both needed. And we ate three feet of tacos.
With coffee in hand, I’d say…
That we got forced into a laundry room renovation. Our washer broke, and we have a home warranty company that deemed the 17 year old machine unfixable. Cool. However, they replace based on functionality, not aesthetics, and offered nothing to match our dryer, which still works (purely out of spite). So rather than force the issue of a new dryer, I negotiated that we (I) would paint the laundry room a new color, get a washing machine that would be easy to match in the future, and have our handyman build a counter and shelves to update the look in the room.
Of course, the washer ended up coming four days earlier than scheduled, so I had to rush to finish the painting and getting everything set up. Ick. It’s not an ideal situation, but we will make it work. And of course, now I want to repaint the kitchen and powder room, and upgrade the shelving in my pantry. Sigh.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…
That I am still flying high after Saturday’s race. I’ll hush about it sooner or later, but it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this confident. Of course, we’ll see how I feel after a race out of time zone in a new place, but for now, I’m basking in the moment.
And finally, I’d say…
That I am a little excited for Valentine’s Day. It’s not my favorite holiday, but I think I’m going to lean into the heart shaped foods and vibes.

So happy to hear about your racing experience.
I feel the same way about packing for Florida in Feb. could be hot. Could be cold.
No matter what it’ll be great to get away.
My Monday hikes are fun. Maybe I could add tacos.
Marcia says
That’s great you had such a solid race! Have so much fun in NOLA. I’ll be leaning into the healthy heart aspects of Valentines Day!
Coco says
I hate packing! I stalk the weather app and still don’t feel confident!
A girlfriend getaway no matter how short is always fun!
I’ve got a big work meeting in NYC on V-Day, and will be taking the train home barley in time for dinner. Maybe I’ll get a heart-shaped cookie at the fancy bakery at the train station ….

hooray for the Big Easy, miles of tacos with Meghan and fun racing times! the laundry room sitch doesn’t sound fun but glad you got it done!
Deborah Brooks says
I am so glad that you are feeling better about running these days. Love the laundry room inspiration. Have so much fun in New Orleans!
Jenny says
I’ll bet your trip will be amazing! We always pass by New Orleans when we drive to Waco, so I feel like I know the city even though I’ve never actually stopped to look around. I’m assuming you’re driving? Just load up the car with all sorts of clothes and you’ll be good!
Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday either… but I guess I should lean into it. If you can’t get out of it, get into it, right?
Have fun, and I can’t wait to hear all about the trip.

Have fun in NOLA! I’ve never been, but I know it’s a fun place. Will any of the Mardi Gras stuff be starting yet?
runswithpugs says
We didn’t realize that Mardi Gras was literally in full swing. Our hotel was a block off one of the main parade routes, and I came home with about 20 pounds of beads. It was wild and I was so unprepared lol!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Congrats on your race and glad that you had fun on your girl’s trip!
Have fun in NOLA!
runswithpugs says
Thank you!
Farrah says
Aww, that girls’ trip sounds fun! 3 feet of tacos sounds like a great meal, hehehe.
I’m glad you had a great race + best of luck on your laundry room renovation! I’d like to renovate the sinks for 2 of our bathrooms at some point, but that’ll definitely be a years-down-the-line kind of thing.
runswithpugs says
We are all about the tacos over here!
I have been holding off on updating things, but it’s now time. I can’ wait any more.
Michelle says
All of those tacos! I’m so here for it 🙂
I love the color you picked for your laundry room! Renovating is a little like that book “If you give a mouse a cookie” – it just leads to more renovating lol
runswithpugs says
That’s exactly what I said to my husband! I have BIG PLANS!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I’m envious of your trip to New Orleans, it’s definitely one of my favorite cities – especially for the food!
Love the idea of a day trip with a friend. And those tacos look soo good!
Keep basking in the victory of your race!! It’s such a great feeling!
runswithpugs says
Confession: both times I have been to New Orleans, I have had HUGE food expectations. And both times, I somehow just… forget to eat. Or we are so busy we grab something on the fly. It’s a problem lol!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I am glad to hear you had a great race! So many delicious tacos-YUM!! That is a beautiful color for your laundry room. Can’t wait to see the room when it is completed.
runswithpugs says
I need to get some better lighting in that room to really bring it out, but I’m happy with it.
