As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s time to think about all the things I love about running! It’s a fairly long list, to be honest. Running is, after all, one of my favorite things in the world. There’s so much to love!
I Love That I Can Run Anywhere
There is something so incredible about always finding someplace to run, wherever I am. Sure, it might be a hotel gym, but it’s much more likely that I will get the chance to explore somewhere new and wonderful.
I Love The Race Experience
Experiences are my most favorite thing in the whole world, and while I love racing, I love the experience even more. I’m into the swag and the people. The sights and the after party bring me joy. Whenever I’m feeling down, registering for a new race is sure to put a smile on my face.
I Love The Clothes And The Gear
Confession: I am addicted to running clothes and gear. Give me all the tank tops, shorts, socks, Goodrs, Road IDs and Brooks Adrenalines. I don’t pay nearly as much attention to my regular wardrobe and accessories as I do to my running clothes. Sorry, not sorry.
I Love The Support Of The Community
The running community is such a kind and supportive place. No matter where I am, nor what state of mind I’m in, there are always runners and running friends to pump me up. And I’m happy to do the same for them. No one runs alone if they don’t want to in my neck of the woods, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I Love The Feeling Of Empowerment
As a person who struggled running the mile in school PE classes, it was a real thrill to know that I could run long distances on purpose, for fun. I don’t think I’ll ever get over that sense of accomplishment. It would be a privilege to run for many, many more years to come.

Out of your list I think the feeling of empowerment is my favorite! I love that you love all of the gear. I am pretty basic and could use some help in that area!

I figure if I can’t be fast, at least I can look sort of cute!

Jenn, I also struggled to run the mile in high school PE! If only our PE teachers could see us now.

Right? Who would ever have guessed?
Kimberly Hatting says
Not being a naturally gifted athlete, running brought me into the main stream of fitness, almost 19 years ago. Since then, I’ve added numerous other fitness endeavors to my repertoire & there’s no looking back! There’s definitely a lot to love about it!
