Can you believe we are are already digging into our February Runfessions? What a start to the 2024 year! It’s time to dig in and see the state of our soles! Let’s go!
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
My First Runfession Is…
That my motivation is in the toilet. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s a struggle to get out of bed in the morning, and it’s been even more of a struggle to get out to run. Maybe it’s the cold? I have been staying up a little later than usual, but it shouldn’t be enough to absolutely wipe me out like this. Yes, I’ve been giving myself grace, but it’s annoying.
Follow Up Runfession…
I love the photo I found to represent my lack of motivation, but I hated posting something that showed shoes on the bed. I runfess that I am adamantly against wearing shoes in the house, and would never get on my bed with running shoes on! Honestly, I’m not a germaphobe; I just hate shoes inside!
While I’m Runfessing…
I want you to know that the Gate is getting closer, and my initial bravado is dissipating. Eek. Is it going to be fine? You bet. Am I going to be an absolute mess from now until mile 4? Also, yes. Anxiety is fun! But I do want to get my hands on that 15K medal… so, there’s that.
I’ll Also Runfess…
That I attended a local networking event this week, and actually made a really awesome connection. I hate talking about myself or taking chances, but the introduction was made, and a cool opportunity arose. At the moment, I can’t share exactly what happened, but it will be super awesome if it works out.
And For My Last Runfession…
The rest of the school year is moving FAST. Tonight, we had our pre-MPA concert. From there, we have MPA, Spring Break, MFA, possibly State MPA, and that’s in addition to leadership camps and mini marching camps. We’ve also got a few birthdays, registration for summer camp, and hopefully a summer vacation and out of state race! It’s a huge task keeping it all straight and organized!
So those are my runfessions? Do you struggle with anxiety? Do you care if shoes are worn in your house? Anyone else have a packed, color-coded calendar?

I am the same way with wearing shoes in the house. Can’t wait to see your 15k medal! Hoping your normal motivation comes back soon. I am sure it is a combo of the cold and the weird season of winter/ spring! I know it gets me every year!

It’s such a weird time of year. I’m sure I’ll get myself back in order soon, but it’s annoying.
Coco says
Hah! I take off my shoes when I come in the house after walking Scooby, but I do wear shoes in the house—not in the bedroom though.
It does sound like maybe you’re tired? You’ve done a lot this year already with traveling and racing and such.
runswithpugs says
Probably. I don’t think I bounced back fully after New Orleans, but I need to get past that. Things are happening, you know?
Kimberly Hatting says
I go both ways with shoes in the horse. I’m more lax in the summer, when there isn’t snow, mud & gunk on them. I’m usually at least in socks or comfy slippers because my feet are constantly cold.
runswithpugs says
My toes always feel trapped. I have super long toes and they need to be freeee and unrestrained.
Michelle says
I’m not a fan of shoes in the house either! I do wear Oofos or slippers but they never touch the outside.
Hopefully, some extra rest will take care of your motivation challenge. And yes so important to give yourself some grace.
How exciting about the new connection you made!
runswithpugs says
I’m excited to see where it leads!
Darlene S Cardillo says
Yup, we never wear shoes in the house. Oofos or slippers. Never barefoot (due to my foot pain).
It is hard to get out of bed. My cat wakes me up so that helps but I just relax with coffee. I’ll go to the gym because it takes less time and less effort. Now running. I procrastinate.
I’m excited for your 15k. I feel the same about my half in March… very nervous!!!!!!!!!!
runswithpugs says
I bet the cats would also just want to snuggle and then I would be stuck in bed forever.
Ooh, your half is coming! You’re going to do great!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
No shoes in the house here. My husband doesn’t even wear his “outside clothes” on our bed – LOL.
You’ll do great at the 15K – just focus on fun.
Jenny says
Ha, I generally don’t wear shoes in the house (well, except for my house shoes, which are not worn outside… that sounds confusing) and my running shoes would never touch the bed. EW!
I think you just need an easy week or two. You’ve been REALLY busy lately, maybe it’s all catching up with you.
We also have pre-MPA concert tonight! Then MPA and most of the other things you mentioned. It’s a busy time of year for the band kids!
Deborah Brooks says
ha shoes on the bed! Same here-I take mine off as soon as I walk into the house. I think we all lose motivation from time to time that’s where we just stick to our schedule. Maybe doing something different for a few days will make you miss running?
Marcia says
I looked twice at that pic to see if that was YOU with your shoes on the bed. I find that disturbing as well. We have house shoes here so the outside ones don’t really come in. Gross. Yes the school year is FLYING. Prom and graduation are on the calendar! Eeeek!
