Can you believe spring is is just about here? Sure, the official day is March 19, but we spring ahead today, which brings us longer and brighter days. Huzzah! I will miss the cold and cool weather, but I love lighter nights, too.
Sunday
- Cardio: 3.51 miles, walking
I was still pretty tired after the Gate River Run, so I took it easy, with just a nice stroll to get my legs moving.
Other than that, it was a quiet day. I picked up A from his sleepover, and we did some shopping and enjoyed a nice lunch together, while Mr PugRunner was at a meeting. It was nice to have that quality time with A – he’s so busy that we don’t always have the chance.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.68 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
I wanted to take one more day of “rest”, so I enjoyed a nice walk and a great session at the gym.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 1.63 miles, running + 3.52 miles walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
J and I did our Couch to 5K with a bit of a walk, which was great. I felt just fine to be back to the run. And yes our temperatures do flip this quickly.
The not great part of the day was the Meta outage. As a social media manager, this was a bit panic-inducing, and the outage really set me back. It would mean a fairly stressful rest of week. Boo.
After I picked up A from school, I had an intro call with the founders of Jogology, the socks I now represent (and LOVE), and then a committee meeting that ran pretty late. Night meetings are not my favorite.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.04 miles, running + 2.57 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
A bit of a longer run today. Again, it felt good. For some reason, after Gate, I felt a little lost, if that makes sense. Maybe I just needed a clear and gorgeous morning!
The rest of the day was a mad scramble to catch up on all the things. Then I had book club for a bit, which segued into coming home for a Goodr Flamboyance team call! Y’all know how much I love my Goodrs, and this year’s call was amazing with lots of games and fun facts! My first team even came in FIRST PLACE, and my second team came in second! I felt super old because there was a question about Surya Bonaly, and I knew the answer before the multiple choices showed up (it’s possible my team was the only one that got the answer correct on that one, too).
Thursday
- Cardio: 1.63 miles, running + 3.54 miles. walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
I didn’t get to bed until almost 11, so I was on the struggle bus. But up and out I got.
My lunch plans canceled, but we still had dinner with a dear friend. And then we went to the Marching Band Informational meeting for next season, and OMG it’s going to be amazing! I cannot wait to see it all come together!
Friday
- Cardio: 3.34 miles, running + 3.1 miles, walking
Since I have the Raptor Run 3K on Sunday, I just went a little easy again, still enjoying a light run in addition to my walk.
And then I delved into finishing any work I had leftover in time for my standing noon meeting. When that was done, I peaced out mentally. It was the last day of school before Spring Break and I think we are all a little bit over it.
We had dinner at home, and I watched Damsel on Netflix (solid, but not great). Mr PugRunner started watching Wonka, but I couldn’t hang so I went to bed.
Saturday
- Cardio: 3.1 miles, walking
This is a FULL Saturday. I got out for a quick walk.
Then it was off to one of my clients for some content. From there, we went to my parents for lunch, and THEN we went to the winter guard competition to support A’s girlfriend. Their team is incredible and we love watching.
I laid out my race kit for Sunday, and called it an early night.
Thoughts + Goals
So it was a good week, and a slightly hectic week, all at once. I feel like I gave myself a break fitness-wise.
For the Raptor Run tomorrow, I plan to just go for it. It’s a shorter distance (just less than two miles), but I’m not much of a sprinter. We will see how it goes.
I’m also super excited to get through the laundry room and into the garage! I will have a little bit of spare time to do that this week.
Do you know Surya Bonaly and what she was famous for? Do you or your kids have Spring Break now?

You had a busy week! I can understand the lost feelings after a race. I get that way too. Hope you have fun at the Raptor Race today!
I do not know who Surya Bonaly is…
runswithpugs says
It was great!
She’s a French figure skater from the 90s… She came out of seemingly nowhere, and would do backflips that she landed on one skate (backflips were banned, but if you could land on one blade, there was a loophole). She was an absolute competitor, and really changed the athleticism of the sport.
Debbie says
Another busy week under your belt, but you keep plugging along.
I’ll be honest, I have no idea who Surya Bonaly is so had to Google her name. Still don’t recognize her, but then, I rarely watch figure skating.
My d-i-l is a teacher and she just started spring break! We have a family trip planned so stay tuned!
runswithpugs says
I loved figure skating as a kid (still do, but I haven’t followed it in years).
I hope you have a wonderful time on our trip! Can’t wait to see all about it.
Wendy says
Sounds like a good week! Yes, getting older has some perks, like knowing trivia about past events, lol
Good luck on your race today!
runswithpugs says
Little, useless facts are my jam LOL!
Thanks! It went great!
Jenny says
No, I had no idea who Surya Bonaly is, but then I rarely know about famous people.
Sounds like you had a fun and productive week! I think it’s normal to feel a little lost after a big race- but you’ve solved that by racing again today. Good luck with it! And have fun with spring break- ours isn’t until next week. And we have MPA this week, so by next week we’ll need a break.
runswithpugs says
Good luck at MPA! We are prepping for Marching and MFA, so the kids are happy to have some downtime.
Susanne says
I don’t have a clue about Surya Bonaly! Sorry if I’m ignorant, lol.
There was something weird about Meta this week! I thought I had been hacked (and thought how is that even possible when I have 2FA activated everywhere)!
Sounds like you had a good week and it’s good to take it easy certain weeks, especially between races.
I’m loving the longer days, but we’re totally not in spring mode despite St Patrick’s day is only a week away. I really need warmer weather now! But in the meantime I enjoy all my indoor activities.
runswithpugs says
Not ignorant at all! I was just so thrilled that I knew something sports related!
I thought I had been hacked, too and was in a panic!
Darlene S Cardillo says
Yes I used to really follow figure skating on TV and I was a French.. she was French and was famous for a back flip if I remember correctly.
Anyway. Hope the 3k went well. I’ve neve done such a short race.
Ii will be enjoying the longer daylight (as long as it stops raining.)
runswithpugs says
You are correct! She exploded on the scene and pissed off so many people. I loved her.
Darlene S Cardillo says
** French teacher.
Melissa says
What a busy but fun week! Nice job. I don’t know anything about figure skating, but my daughter has started taking ice skating lessons and loves it so I imagine I’ll learn more soon. Enjoy the race today!! I’ve never raced less than a 5K before, and I think I prefer longer distances so I don’t have to sprint as much. Good luck!
runswithpugs says
Figure skating was my jam back in the day. I watched it for years, with the same ferocity that someone would watch baseball or football.
I prefer longer distances too, but I did well.
Michelle says
Looks like a busy but good week! I hope your race went well today 🙂
runswithpugs says
It did! Thank you!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Spring Break is on now! Well, my daughter just finished hers, but she traveled with her boyfriend so we didn’t see her much. But my son is home so that it wonderful. I hope your race went well!
runswithpugs says
I am so glad you are enjoying! It was a great race!
Coco says
And I thought I had a busy week!
We had a wet, windy weekend, but this week’s weather promises to give us all spring fever!
I didn’t even notice the Meta outage because I’m rarely on social media during the day.
Coco says
And I thought I had a busy week!
I didn’t notice the Meta outage because I don’t usually go on social media during the day. I’m glad it didn’t last too long.
runswithpugs says
Since a lot of my work is done on social media, you know I noticed it immediately! I was in a flat panic that my accounts had been hacked, and it was pretty stressful!
Kimberly Hatting says
SO, I gather that mystery gal from trivia was an ice skater. I had no clue either, LOL. Busy week will make your spring break feel great. Enjoy!
runswithpugs says
Yup! Explosive figure skater from way back in the day! I was a figure skating junkie back then, and I remember her making everyone clutch their pearls with her backflips.
Deborah Brooks says
Glad to see you sticking with your strength training ! Looks like you had a great week all around
runswithpugs says
I’m almost at 80 workouts in the gym!
Marcia says
Congrats on making through such a busy week! That has to feel productive! As a former figure skating coach, I definitely know who Surya is!
runswithpugs says
I didn’t know you coached figure skating! She was absolutely fabulous in her day!
Jessie says
What a nice week- love all that sunshine! Good for you for listening to your body and giving yourself some recovery post-race.
I missed the social media outage as I was at work, but it must have been stressful for a lot of people!
