Another month is starting and we are here for it. It’s time for a May coffee date, and I am ready to share!
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I have enjoyed the new Foxtail Coffee in my area multiple times this month at different locations. Foxtail is an Orlando chain that has just entered the Northeast Florida area. Interestingly, when I’ve visited in Orlando, it’s less for the coffee and more for the Kelly’s Ice Cream they also serve. However, the pistachio cold brew with pistachio cold foam is perfection.
I would also share…
That this past month has meant so many exciting things for A. There was prom and his 16th birthday, and also a huge band event and trip to Universal Studios. The end of the year is coming fast… he’s already started End Of Course Exams for some classes, and instruction is almost at an end. I can’t believe it. Oh, he’ll be getting his license soon, too! We signed him up for Safe Teen Driving class through the Sheriff’s Department, where he’ll learn things like off-road recovery, serpentine in reverse, and figure 8s, just in case. It’s a cool thing they offer for free, and I think it will be great for him.
Next, I’d say…
That I will be back working the polls for this year’s elections. The Elections Office called me because I wasn’t there for the primaries… I never got the link to the online modules so I wasn’t eligible to work that time. I’m glad they contacted me… I think this election cycle is too important to skip, and I want to do my part.
While I’m having coffee, I’m going to share…
It’s been hard to carve out time for personal things. I have struggled to make time to read, and I have yet to start learning to embroider! This morning, I shared with my running buddy that this month is embroidery month. As I sat down to write this post, I scrolled through Instagram, and look what I found! This is local to me, and I think it’s my sign that it’s time to start stitching! I’m a little nervous about going alone if I can’t get something to join me, but we will see.
With coffee in hand, I’d let you know…
That my May calendar is nuts. I think I have events 75% of the days until May 20. We have a little Kentucky Derby gathering, margs and guacacmole for cinco de mayo, my birthday, mother’s day, a festival, a band banquet, a media boat tour, a Vegas-style gala, and then I’m leaving town to visit my friend. It’s going to be great, but it’s a lot! Will I get it done? Yes! Will there be a lot more coffee? Also, yes!
What would you tell me over coffee? Does anyone embroider? Do you go to events alone, even if you don’t know anyone?

Pistachio foam sounds so good!
Best of luck to your son with the driving — that’s cool (and smart) that they offer that class for free!
Thank you for working the polls! It is so, so important this year. I really hope our country goes in the correct direction.
I hope you end up going to the stitch & bitch! I love that, haha. I’m learning to crochet right now + would love to go to something like that around here! 😛

It’s so delicious.
I really enjoyed working the polls more than I thought I would, and I was disappointed not to get the module to go at the most recent election. But that’s ok. They did ask if I wanted a “promotion” to a higher role, to which I said no thank you. I do NOT want to be responsible for the entire polling place. Especially not this year.

I used to go to a group by the same name, but it was a knitting group. That was back when all three kids were in school, I wasn’t working outside the home, and the school activities were pretty minimal….yeah, that only lasted for maybe one year, LOL.
runswithpugs says
You can bring any kind of stitching, so knitting and crochet totally count!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Wow! Busy and I can’t believe that A is 16 and loved seeing his prom pictures!
Don’t worry about going to a Stitch and Bitch alone! I’ve done that with knitting and people are always super friendly. It’s a two-fer, you’ll embroider and meet some new friends!

I hope so. There are a couple of really fun things like that around, but I feel super old compared to who goes. They started this Hot Girl Walk meetup, and I really want to go. I know I’m not hot, nor can I be considered a girl, but it just looks fun. Maybe they would love a middle aged mom to carry snacks and cheer them on.

May is a wild ride for sure! I am paddling as fast as I can to get everything done. Hope the embroidery event is a fun one!
runswithpugs says
I hope so too!
Michelle says
It looks like a lot of us have quite the busy month ahead!
I can’t believe A is 16! I think the driving class sounds like a great idea.
Have fun with the stich class!
runswithpugs says
I KNOW! What is that about?
Jenny says
Wow- you have a LOT going on!!! That safe teen driving class sounds cool- do you get any kind of discount on your insurance for that? You should. That stitch and bitch thing sounds great- I would hesitate to go to something like that alone, but I bet if you did, you would enjoy it. Extra credit points if you fit it into your May schedule!
runswithpugs says
It would be nice if we did get a break. Teen boys are expensive!
I don’t mind going to things alone, sometimes. Worst case scenario, no one talks to me and I sit and stitch in awkwardness until it’s over and never go back, right? I can do that!
Deborah Brooks says
We have a few new coffee spots here too that I am excited to try. Good luck with the embroidery! Looking forward to seeing how it goes. IU have no idea how to do it
runswithpugs says
I have no idea how to do it either. What’s the worst that can happen? LOL!
Coco says
That driving class does sound neat! Fun and safety at the same time.
A’s prom photos were so good. I hope he had as much fun as it looked.
You always have a busy calendar! I was tired with just one extra event this week!
runswithpugs says
Yes! It’s going to be so useful. It’s a lot of great stuff that I am certainly not willing to teach him, and he will be on a closed course with someone who knows what they are doing (I hope).
They had so much fun. I loved getting to take those photos.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Your son is all grown up! I loved seeing his prom pictures. Did I miss the Stitch and Bitch event? How did it go?
runswithpugs says
I didn’t make it! I had so much going on that day, and that was the thing that had to go. I was bummed, but there is another one later in the month that I will try to get to.
