why running is my valentine

February 14, 2023      6 Comments

On this February 14, I’d love to share why running is my Valentine. At least one of them. Let’s talk about the reasons why.

Running Is Always There

No matter what, I can always go for a run. When I’m sad or stressed or angry, I can lace up my shoes and head out to pound the pavement and get myself back on track.

Running Keeps Me Healthy

Even when I don’t feel like taking care of myself, running ensures that I stay healthy. When I get outside for my miles, I’m getting good cardio, fresh air, and getting my heart rate up! These are all positive things for my overall wellbeing, whether I like it or not.

Running Keeps Me Motivated

When I run, I set more goals for myself. Goals keep me motivated. What’s even nicer is that my goals have plenty of room to adjust and evolve through my training, which keeps me from getting bored or discouraged. Only a Valentine could offer that kind of incentive.

Running Lets Me Splurge A Little

I love treating myself, and when I run, I find myself to splurge a little more often. From new running gear to delicious dinners, running always makes sure I get to enjoy.

Running Takes Me To New Places

Traveling to run in new locations is one of the best gifts running has given me. I love travel more than anything, and running is the perfect way to join my favorite sport with my favorite hobby.

Running Brings So Many Of My Favorite People Together

What’s not to love about that? Only a Valentine could give me the gift of so many incredible friends, all over the world.

I am linking up with Kookyrunner and Zenaida this Tuesday for Tuesday Topics!

What do you love about running?

So true! You are right, running does bring us to new places. Not many tourists end up on a running trail with beautiful views. They don’t know what they miss out on!

Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run.

I worked through some cardio under the blue skies and in the fresh air and then came home to @runsmartofficial’s base building boot camp.

There was A LOT of focus on balance and feet and ankles, as well as ground work in the form of different planks and push-ups.

The movements were small but effective and my legs are certainly burning! It’s going to get harder as we go, but I’m excited to spend more time on my stability and form, to see if it makes me stronger and more efficient over time.

What was on your workout calendar today?

This morning, I started on a new training plan wit This morning, I started on a new training plan with @runsmartofficial. I have a goal race in May, so I am going to see if I can make some improvements along the way.

I can admit that I am built more for distance than speed, but I am taking a crack and improving my pace over the next ten weeks. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏻!

Anyone else starting a new training plan and cycle?

Congratulations to the @staugalligatorfarm for another fantastic event. It was a beautiful morning, with lots of enthusiastic runners and walkers, and we were so happy to be there.

A portion of proceeds went to benefit Orianne Center for Indigo Snake Conservation (OCIC) and AZA Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE), partnering to celebrate Eastern indigo snakes, which makes the race even more important.

Come take a peek at how the morning went and head over to the blog to read more about it! (Link in bio) https://runswithpugs.com/2023/03/15/race-report-raptor-run-3k/
