So Ready To Say “-Ber”

August 29, 2026      9 Comments

That’s it! I’m done! No more 90+ degree days! No more broiling sunshine! No more soggy humidity! Your girl wants turning leaves, and crisp air, and cozy sweaters! I’m hot, I’m tired, and I want soup season to start! This year feels particularly worse than ever, and I just didn’t feel prepared to cope. So I’m moving forward into the “ber” months, fully embracing the vibes.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 3.18 miles, running + Puppies & Yoga

I got up nice and early to take care of my doggie clients, and get in some morning miles.

Later that morning, J and I went to a puppies & yoga class, featuring corgis! Eek! It was a ton of fun and exactly the dopamine hit I needed. You can read more about it here!

It was a good day, but I was also glad to be back at home again.

Monday

  • Cardio: 6.01 miles, running
  • Strength: upper body, 40 minutes

Let’s get the week started! Monday runs are just a perfect way to set the tone for the days ahead.

And then I had to take on some upper body strength at the gym. Like I said. We are starting the week right.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 5.23 miles, running

We had a lot going on. First, of course, I headed out for a run. I was absolutely sparkly with sweat.

Now that A is off at school. I suggested that Mr PugRunner and I head out to a coffee shop to work out of the house once every week or so. We are still getting the timing down, but it was good to have a change of scenery. I was actually pretty productive.

And that evening we had an at-home wine tasting date. Mr PugRunner saw it on TikTok and wanted to give it a try. It was a lot of fun and we had hours of good conversation. Highly recommend.

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 5.75 miles, walking
  • Strength: Lower body, 42 minutes

What do you mean, she went for a walk and then went to the gym again? Who is this lady? Yup. That’s me, taking on leg day. Second time for the gym this week. Yup. This is sustainable.

I’d also like to point out it was National Dog Day! I spent a total of $10 to have these “poorly drawn” dog portraits made of the pugs. They are absolutely perfect. Not an ad, but if you need ugly pet portraits, this is the place! All you have to do is pay $5 per pet photo, and you get your results in 24 hours or less. No edits. No changes. Just pure, ridiculous drawings. Best money ever spent.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 4.41 miles, running

Friday

  • Cardio: 3.92 miles, running

It was an early, early morning for me, but I didn’t mind. I was able to get in the bulk of my run before the sun came up, which meant it was just a wee bit cooler.

In the evening, we had dinner to celebrate J’s birthday. It’s always great hanging out with them!

Saturday

  • Cardio: 4.60 miles, walking

I didn’t have a great night’s sleep, but that doesn’t matter when you have clients who need to get their medications in the morning. It ended up being a fairly busy day, so no chance of a nap. Boo. But that gorgeous moon helped my mood quite a bit.

Thoughts + Goals

Things are going better than I expected. A is really thriving, and barring a few little hiccups, I feel fairly at peace with things. It helps that we will be seeing him in a few weeks, but still.

It’s also worth noting that we had a slightly cooler morning and I found myself able to extend my running intervals a bit. This was definitely a boost I needed, and I’m feeling way more confident about my running and my upcoming races overall. And even though it’s only been a few days, the gym workouts are helping with that, too.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m all over the Halloween decor and leaning into some of the festivities. I’m still no closer to bringing home a 12 foot skeleton, but I’m making up for it with tons of flowers and other decor.

Love the title of this post, but our first few days of September are supposed to reach the mid 90s.

Nice job getting to the gym and getting all those runs and walks in.

Glad to hear A is doing well!

I think those drawings are super cute! And, I adore your wine glasses! Those with the flat bottom are so unusual and really fancy looking.
Good news that you’re keeping up the gym workouts and I’m so happy to hear about your nice cooler morning run. What races do you have lined up?
The puppy yoga! OMG! Looks like more puppy than yoga but oh what a fantastic feelgood activity.

Oh yes, I’m ready for the “ber” months!!! I wish the weather would cooperate, but I live in South Florida, soooo… we’ll have heat for a couple more months. It’s still a “ber” month inside my house though!
Glad to hear A is doing so well. Yes, it definitely helps when you know they’re happy.
Nice job getting to the gym!!! Why is that always a challenge??? I have a gym goal of twice next week.

It’s wonderful to hear that A is thriving (of course he is!) and that you are doing well also!

I am so ready to put out my fall decor, but we’re heading to the beach on Tuesday so I’m still in summer mode. You can bet I’ll be ready for fall by the time we return home!

Here’s to a great week, Jenn!

Awww, those puppies!! Love that. I think you are taking the right approach keeping busy and finding things you enjoy. It really helped me when my kids went to college! It really helped me to think about how much fun they were having and being proud of them doing well being independent (and happy when they still needed my support and answers!). It sounds like A is doing well. That is great to hear.
Well done getting to the gym. That is on my agenda this week after totally skipping it last week!

Lots to catch up on this week! April is chock full of holidays, birthdays, days off, and events, so let’s get to it!

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

I got to sleep in AND take advantage of some cooler temps. It really didn’t warm up until my last mile and that was just fine.

I feel like this month and next are really just flying by. So much is going on, and I want so badly to enjoy it all, including the crisp, sunny days where we find them!

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you all, but you Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday fun day! Just a short walk to start the da Sunday fun day!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
