It’s All A Blur

April 26, 2026      Leave a Comment

I’m writing this post from my very own couch in my very own house, with my very own pugs next to me under my very own blanket. I’ve been away for just over two weeks, and it really took a toll. Tonight will be early to bed and I’m probably not getting up super early either. But time marches on and things feel just a little blurry with how fast it all is.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 4.2 miles, walking

It was a warm day, but I took myself out to the trails. Sometimes, you just have to go into the woods.

Monday

  • Cardio: 6.45 miles, running
  • Strength: Eastern stretching + mobility

Marathon Monday! I picked up Dunkin in solidarity (only to be reminded that our Dunkins have gone wildly downhill in terms of taste and quality). But that’s ok! I treated myself to a little run and then settled in to watch the big race.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 6.71 miles, running

This was the first morning I didn’t have to zip over to my medical clients at 6AM. That freedom was dizzying! For the first time in a while, I got to really enjoy the sunrise. Look at that fog and the bird with his little fish!

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 4.39 miles, walking

I think this was the day I was officially done and wanted to go home. I was down to one client, but I was just ready to be back to my own bed. Not even my new friend could cheer me up.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 4.29 miles running + walking

I was able to start the morning with a little speedwork, but I had to switch to walking due to the smoke. It’s interesting how the days start beautifully, and the haze rolls in with the sunrise. We spent most of the day in the house to be on the safe side. No one needs to be breathing in that mess.

Friday

  • Cardio: 6.49 miles, walking
  • Strength: Eastern stretching and mobility

I usually run on Fridays, but with a 10K on Saturday, and finally getting up with enough time to log some miles before the puppy got up, I took advantage. J also joined me for a little bit, which was lovely. We finished before the smoke rolled back in.

For the rest of the day I packed, tidied up the house, moved some things back home and waited for my end time. My client’s flight got delayed a little, but not enough to stop me from heading out before 9:30PM! I slept like a rock in my own bed.

Saturday

  • Cardio: Spud Run 10K

Was it the smartest thing to register for a 10K at 7AM, 40 minutes away, the night after a huge job? Maybe, maybe not? But I’ve done less reasonable things for potatoes, and I’m pleased to say I scored my annual bag of local potatoes and giant head of cabbage!

That being said, it was kind of a disastrous race for me. I was undertrained, under-rested, and probably under fueled. We will talk about it later this week.

After I crossed the finish line, I walked another half mile to one of the best coffee shops around for an iced coffee and grits bowl (and two cinnamon rolls to take home). The Potato, Cabbage, and Bacon Festival was underway, and it was really nice to see the small town bustling with vendors and people. I enjoyed my breakfast in the garden with a little live music, and then drove home.

I showered, sat on the couch, took a nap, and finally devoured some Mexican takeout. It’s good to be home.

Thoughts + Goals

So I have work to do. Clearly, two weeks of greatly reduced miles did not agree with me, and I have to build back up a little. Not a problem. It’s much easier without highly scheduled clients. And it’s even easier being at home.

I do owe the pugs some serious cuddle time, though. They have been neglected.

This week, we have a big birthday and the last band event of the year. Unfortunately, due to budget, the wind ensemble did not get to travel to a festival or even to states. It’s a disappointing way to end senior year, but I’m grateful for all the opportunities the band DID have. Things are not looking good for public schools in our area, and I hope people continue to fight to ensure that our kids have a high quality and accessible public education.

It was a beautiful morning that turned quickly into a beautiful day. Sundays are hard because they are immediately followed by Mondays, and Mondays are hard.

Lots to catch up on this week! April is chock full of holidays, birthdays, days off, and events, so let’s get to it!

About this morning… I was up and out early to dri About this morning…

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it. So good Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it.

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

Check out those blue skies! I got to sleep in AND Check out those blue skies!

I got to sleep in AND take advantage of some cooler temps. It really didn’t warm up until my last mile and that was just fine.

I feel like this month and next are really just flying by. So much is going on, and I want so badly to enjoy it all, including the crisp, sunny days where we find them!

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you all, but you Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday fun day! Just a short walk to start the da Sunday fun day!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
