What a week… a week of love. Between Super Bowl, Galentine’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and all the rest, it was quite a bit! And it’s not over! I’m going to need a nap by the time we’re done!
Sunday
- Cardio: 3.78 miles, walking
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! To be honest, I wasn’t all that into the game, but I did want to see the Usher halftime show. At any rate, we started the day with a walk, as usual.
And then we got to prepping. Mr PugRunner loves to watch football with friends, and I like themed events, so we compromised: we would have some friends over if we could have a Taylor Swift themed get together. I made a friendship bracelet banner, and very food had a name that came from a TSwift song title or lyric. It was hilarious.
For the record, I think I saw two plays of the whole game, I enjoyed halftime, and I loved the Dun-Kings and clydesdale commercials. Til next year, NFL.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.39 miles, running + 3.01 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
Listen. I was up way past my bedtime, with snacks and espresso martinis. We get what we get. And what we got was a decent run and a good walk. The gym was rough, but I got it done, all the same.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 1.93 miles, running + 2.54 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
So I’ve been doing Couch to 5K with J on my off-running days, as she gets back into it. We will shift things around as we get deeper into it, but for now, it’s going well, and it’s nice to have her running again.
It was also Galantine’s Day. Normally, I would have put together some brunch or event for some girlfriends, but we had a jazz concert at the school, plus we have been firing on every cylinder since New Orleans, so I told the guys that they were going to have to indulge me in waffles and frittatas and fries. Of course, I made a board out of it all, and served it with some mocktails.
Then we headed to the school for an hour of music by the jazz band, which was phenomenal, as always.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 7 miles, running + 1.73 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
By this point in the week, I was running on adrenaline and caffeine. Literally. But Happy Valentine’s Day! I kicked things off with a long run.
And then I dug into a whole heap of work that’s been sitting. I was able to get to the gym around lunchtime, and then picked up the kids from school.
That evening, we took A and his Valentine to the beach for a picnic at sunset, and we took ourselves to the rooftop bar a few blocks away for some drinks and appetizers. It’s a great location, but never too crowded, so it worked out.
Thursday
- Cardio: 1.77 miles, running + 2.28 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
Another few miles with J, and another trip to the gym. It would be my last visit for the week, so I worked extra hard.
It was another long day: when A got out of school, we headed straight to my parents’ house. They had some things they needed help with, and they also had a set of tables to give us to use in our loft. It’s an open area of our upstairs with a couch, TV and some shelves, but it could use a little TLC, and we were super grateful that they donated this set to the cause. We also had dinner together, which was nice, too.
I was just about to head to bed, when I checked my email. And guess who’s back on the Goodr Flamboyance for 2024??!!! This girl!
Friday
- Cardio: 5.82 miles, running + 2.02 miles, walking
For some reason, I was tired this morning. I didn’t want to get out of bed, and I certainly didn’t want to run. But I did it anyway, and was rewarded with this sunrise.
This was not my favorite day. Even though I had productive meetings and got a lot of work done, the nerves in my foot jangled all day long, and it just wasn’t the best.
Saturday
- Cardio: 3 miles, walking
I was up and out early to beat the rain, and because I had a full schedule ahead of me.
I shot some content for a client, and took A to see his girlfriend compete. From there, we went out to dinner with some friends, which was nice.
Thoughts + Goals
So where am I at? Well, with the Gate River Run coming up, I’m excited and a little anxious. My runs aren’t starting out as strong as I would like, but they are finishing up well and I don’t have too many complaints.
What IS driving me insane is the state of some clutter in places like the pantry and fridge. I am carving out time on Sunday to address the situation. I’m sort of in a holding pattern with organization: our handyman is cutting a counter and shelves for our laundry room. Once those are in and I stain them, then I can move some things from the garage into the laundry room and attack the mess in the garage, which means I can go after the disaster of a kitchen, and so on and so forth. You know how it goes.
Next week is going to be a bit intense. We have off on Monday, but then I have a bunch of client meetings, a board meeting, a networking event, and some dog and cat sitting! Crazy! Of course it will all get done, but it will be a lot.
Did you have any special celebrations this week? Do you ever get fed up by clutter?

What cool Idea for a Super Bowl party!
And a busy week. Don’t know how you fit it all in.
I’m loving the Florida weather. Not missing the cold at all.
runswithpugs says
I promise,I’m exhausted this week. And I’ll probably be exhausted next week too!
Wendy says
You should be a professional party planner! I love your Taylor themed party ideas! And that Galentine’s spread is amazing.
Just keep going and your training will pay off come race day!
runswithpugs says
I really enjoy doing it. We had some great birthday parties back in the day, and I did an Oscar party that was absolutely fantastic. It’s fun for me and I love cooking and decorating, but we just haven’t had as much time lately.
Coco says
Oh my gosh, you are so creative! I love your Superbowl party theme! How fun!
I watched the first 1/2 at a bar near my hotel, and the rest from my hotel room bed. 😛
I am really good at ignoring clutter, but once in a while it gets to me. I am not good at cleaning out my cupboards. Yesterday I realized some frozen veggies had a “best by” date of 2022. I know those dates aren’t that meaningful, but I tossed them!
runswithpugs says
I would have tossed them, too! It’s easy to shove things off to the side, but I’ve been itching to let go of things. If I do a little at a time, it’s very cathartic.
Melodie says
I felt the same way about the game… there for the halftime show! You had a fun set up! You had a really busy week, but it sounds so fun. I plan on attacking our garage organization as soon as it warms up here. We have plenty of shelves but need more totes and a better system for all of our stuff out there.
runswithpugs says
We have the shelves, too, but they need to be emptied, and organized, and we need to let go of some old things. Definitely need more totes as well. I’d like newer, prettier shelves, but I can live without that.
Debbie says
Yay for finding time for all of your workouts, even though you were very busy! Great job on fitting it all in, but you’re like me, half of it is self-inflicted. Our guests would have just as much fun without the elaborate decorative setup, but it’s what makes us happy about entertaining so we spend lots of extra time in the prep.
runswithpugs says
I told Mr PugRunner I was going all out with decor even if no one showed up. It makes me so happy.
Jessie says
The superbowl party looked so neat! You are very creative.
Congrats on the Goodr team! How cool.
Lovely Florida pics! So beautiful there.
runswithpugs says
Thank you! We had fun!
Deborah Brooks says
Your Super Bowl and Galetine’s decor is all so fun and creative! There was a lot going on this week for sure! I can always find places that need organization it is never ending
runswithpugs says
I’m hoping that I can really purge us down to not needing as much organization, but we’ll see. I’m just one woman lol.
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Busy you! (and even busier coming up!). I have been eyeing up many areas of my house that need to be renovated, but I lack the motivation to do it. Sigh. But, maybe this will be the year (finally)!
Great job on the Super Bowl decorations and Galentine’s too. So pretty!!
If your workouts are ending strong, that’s a great thing!
runswithpugs says
It is busy and I think it will continue through Spring Break. Sigh.
Liz Dexter says
You’re so on it with your boards and platters, I’m always impressed by that! I have watched the superbowl once, in the US, with nachos and stuff, though I don’t really understand your football! And well done on the solid running. We have a similar organisation thing – we now have a lovely office for my husband and cleared out a lot of stuff but then the rest of it has gone in the back top room and really needs sorting out. He needs to throw out some stuff first, though (I’ve already done my bit). We found the home renovations really stressful though so have had to recover from that.
runswithpugs says
I think nachos are one of the best parts of football. To be honest, I used to love and watch a lot of it (even had season tickets to my college team and my favorite pro team). However, since having a kid and not being able to spend the entire weekend absorbed in games, mixed with the glorification of bad behavior in pro athletes, and the overall treatment of players and fans have put me off. Probably makes me a fun burglar, but it’s hard to cheer for things I don’t believe in. I don’t mind if it’s on, but I won’t go out of my way.
I love home reno. I want to move so I’m not spending a lot of money, but there are some cheaper things we can do to freshen things up.
Susanne says
Wow, you’re so creative with these events!! I’m impressed. It looks like a lot of fun!
And good job with getting your running and strength workouts done all around everything else. Sounds like your Monday workout was like mine!
I have a huge problem with clutter, when we moved to Ireland we had to buy the cheapest house possible and it’s way smaller than what we’d need. And with the arrival of Covid, we were stopped in the attempts to get rid of stuff and we’re still in a big seemingly neverending decluttering process. 🙁
runswithpugs says
I finally emptied out the kitchen pantry today, then cleaned everything, purged, and organized it. I then showed the guys and told them that this is how it stays. Mr PugRunner was like “what if we have more stuff than space?” Oh, buddy. Figure it out in a manner that does not involved shoving things into weird places and making it messy!
Jenny says
Whoa! You did a lot this past week, and it sounds like the next week is busy as well. Nice job getting all those workouts in. You’re being really consistent with the gym!
We’re Superbowl opposites- I LOVED the game, and spent halftime cleaning the kitchen and getting everything ready for Monday morning, so I wouldn’t have to miss the second half. But, we both enjoyed it!
runswithpugs says
LOL! Too funny! I missed the whole 3rd quarter driving A’s girlfriend home, but then I got the overtime! Come on! I was so ready for bed.
Kimberly Hatting says
What a great week, and some great eats happening 😉
Marcia says
I love your party themes! So fun! I was very lucky to get the fridge, pantry, everything actually, purged and decluttered at the end of last year before I got sick and everything hit the fan with my mom. At least that’s all done.
runswithpugs says
Thank you!
I’m sure it’s nice not having to worry about those things now that you are on the mend.

I love your Super Bowl spread, so creative!
