We are at the tail end of our Spring Break! Technically, we are out through Monday, but the bulk of the vacation is over. It was fairly low-key over here. I got out for a few things, but we ended up being pretty busy with work and other stuff! It happens.
Sunday
- Cardio: Raptor Run 3K
As you already know, I ran the Raptor Run 3K on Sunday. It was wonderful! You can read about it here.
Then I hustled to Home Depot to pick up some stain and supplies, so I could finish the laundry room! I am so happy with how everything came out!
I used a water-based stain/primer product, so it only took two coats, and took just an hour to dry between those. It was amazing.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.62 miles, walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
Since I had a PR race on Sunday, I just walked on Monday. I also got to mix things up a little.
Then I headed to the gym to do an arm workout. weights are getting heavier, and it’s all feeling a bit more challenging. I guess that’s the point.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 3.21 miles, running + 3.17 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
I got up super early for my gym workout, then joined J for some Couch to 5K. But that wasn’t all. I was craving some Vitamin Sea, so I treated myself to a donut and iced coffee and headed to the beach to finish my miles.
And then, while I don’t have any photos, I cleaned out 90% of the garage. I assembled a work table, purged a lot of things, donated other things, and reorganized. It looks absolutely amazing and I was exhausted but proud.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.93 miles, running
My back was bothering me a bit after my heroic efforts in the garage, so I just went for a run rather than heading to the gym as well.
Mr PugRunner and I went out for a bit, because I wanted to see some local sights and spend some time out of the house.
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.71 miles, running
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
My miles have suffered this week, for sure. I’ve been tired, and sleeping in more, and it’s just been hard to keep up with everything. It happens.
It was also Pi Day! (And a big happy birthday to Kim!). We had two kinds of pie to celebrate!
Friday
- Cardio: 4.06 miles, running + 2.68 miles, walking
Y’all. It’s getting hot. That is all.
Friday was super busy. I had a huge conference call, and then I spent the rest of the afternoon making a board for St. Patrick’s Day. We won’t be here to officially celebrate, so I wanted to do some traditional favorites. I made soda bread, mini shepherd’s pies with ground turkey instead of beef, and pretzel bites with beer cheese.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.56 miles, walking
And so it’s Saturday again. I went for a lovely walk, in some St. Patrick’s Day gear.
Then A and I ran some errands. He cooked dinner for his girlfriend, too, which was sweet, and they made dessert together.
Thoughts + Goals
It’s been kind of a mid week, honestly. Fitness was there, but not anything earth-shattering. I have two April races in my mind, and I’m excited for those, but beyond that, I haven’t made many plans.
The end of March/early April is always a little tough he4re so we are just planning on maintaining, and doing the best we can. That’s how it goes.
How was your week in training? Do you have times of year that are traditionally harder than others? What’s your next race?

Breaks are for sleeping, aren’t they??! I’ve been in Spain this week and have slept and slept and slept – wonderful! Good strong work and well done on keeping everything going as you do!
runswithpugs says
Oh you know it! Hope you had a wonderful time in Spain!

With our travel, I was off of my usual schedule as well. It happens and I am learning that is ok. It’s a new week! I hope you have a good one. Love the laundry room look! We have top loading washer so I cannot do a shelf like that but wish I could
runswithpugs says
I was looking at a top loader, but I prefer the front. And I actually really like the one we got, even though we didn’t really get to pick it. It’s huge: I was able to wash our king size comforter in it!
Coco says
Gosh, it sounds like a good week to me!
Your laundry room looks great. We haven’t done anything to ours since we’ve been here even though we hate it. It’s just not a priority! We’ll probably make it really nice before we move — whenever that is.
runswithpugs says
It wouldn’t have been a priority if the washing machine hadn’t died. But since we were in there changing out the machine… well, one thing led to another and… there you go!
Melodie says
Laundry room looks great! Looks like you did some fun things and got to spend some time with your husband which is great! You still got in some great workouts and love that you went to the beach for some miles, coffee and donuts!!!
runswithpugs says
I love beach mornings. I haven’t gone much in the last months, but now that the sand is a bit more restored from the storms, it’s easier to walk or run there.
Jenny says
I think your week sounds amazing- YOU CLEANED OUT THE GARAGE!!! If I got rid of 90% of the stuff in our garage, it would be cause for major celebration.
Our spring break is this week, and we aren’t really doing anything. I’ll be working as usual and my daughter will just be hanging out. She had a super busy week leading up to this one, so I’m glad she has time to relax. And now- the time will fly by to the end of the year! 4th quarter always goes so fast.
i love the photo of you seeing the local sights- so pretty!
runswithpugs says
I was glad that A had some time off to rest last week. These kids work so hard.
It felt good to purge and organize. It hasn’t been done in years.
Wendy says
It looks like a really nice week for you. Your laundry room turned out great! Mine is just shameful and I need to tackle it in the next couple of weeks. Funny how things get away from a person…
Keep up the good work in the gym! It looks like it is paying off for you on the road!
runswithpugs says
Honestly, I wouldn’t have touched the laundry room if the washing machine hadn’t crapped out. But since it did… things had to happen.
Melissa says
Yay for spring break!! Your laundry room looks so great! Nice job in the gym– I am trying so hard to do better at lifting weights but I just love cardio so much. I still think the 3k race sounds funny and i would much prefer a 5k.
runswithpugs says
I agree. Cardio is my jam.
3K is a little odd, but it felt great and I love the theme and the people who put it on, so I’m in.
Kimberly Hatting says
That’s ambitious cleaning out the garage! Thankfully most of the “stuff” in our garage doesn’t have my name on it, nor is it going with me to my new place, LOL. My fitness routine is a bit low-key for the next couple weeks. Sometimes the bare minimum is a necessity.
runswithpugs says
I love that it’s not your concern! Nice!
Even your bare minimum is pretty active!
Susanne Svalefelt says
You got a lot of good things done this week, but fitness-wise and not! The laundry room looks lovely, and cleaning out anything is such a good feeling.
I always struggle in the winter, because with cold weather and the darkness I get tired and grumpy and struggle to keep up the mood and energy. This winter seems to have been consistently cold instead of the usual very variable Irish weather. I’m so glad to be into spring now! I’ve had some really good times in the gym this winter but I miss long walks and I need to prep for my long trail walk in September – that’s my first ever race and I’m going to walk it but I really look forward to it.
runswithpugs says
It’s ok to walk! I have walked plenty of races in my day!
The weather is tricky. We have a lot of sunshine, so that helps with the cold.
Darlene S Cardillo says
This is the worst time of year… it seems like spring one day and then it could snow the next and even worse are the winds!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Laundry rooms looks great… I have had zero time to do anything around the house.. It’s work and running!!!!
runswithpugs says
Work and running are way more fun than garages and laundry rooms!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Kudos on the garage cleanup! Ours is in need of a lot of help. It tends to be a dumping spot for a lot of stuff and we never get around to picking it up. That is a lot of work, but yes, very rewarding when it’s done!
