This week, I am determined to find the positive side of all the things. Winter seemed especially dark and negative, and I want an energy shift. Yesterday. This will probably come with a little bit of rain and a lot of humidity, but I’m setting my sights on the sunshine. Let’s go.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.13 miles, walking
I was running waaaay behind on Sunday. It was my last day of house sitting and I wanted to make sure I was moved out, the house was tidy, and the dogs were good to go. Of course, I did squeeze in a walk, and yes, it involved my own dogs.

Monday
- Cardio: 6.77 miles, running + 6.8 miles, walking
We are back, baby! I finally had the time and space for a longer distance and that was awesome!

I also had time for iced coffee and new nails!

I was also thrilled to have time to do some work in the kitchen and I made these chicken shawarma bowls with crispy rice. It’s hard being in someone else’s home, so I’ve been existing on bagels, PB&J sandwiches and leftovers. This was nice and yummy.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.54 miles, running + .52 miles, walking
And I got to go out with J again, which was amazing! It’s really good to be back in a groove.

On the boring side, I did some cleaning and some work. Blah.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.89 miles, walking
I am proud to announce that today marked 500 days of #StreakingWithTheCoolKids! That’s right! For 500 days, I ran, walked, or jogged at least one mile per day! Eek!

In the evening, we had book club! We read The Women, by Kristin Hannah, and we had an incredibly deep and meaningful discussion over sushi and Thai food. I don’t usually love Thai, but the Veggie Pad Thai was really delicious and I would totally get it again.

Thursday
- Cardio: 8.08 miles, running + walking
Despite the late night, we had a super lengthy bunch of miles. It felt great and I was so happy to have the time to do it.

Friday
- Cardio: 4.29 miles, running
I met J and we got in some miles.

So remember that batch cooking I talked about? It was time. After my run and shower, I got in the kitchen, and was so thrilled for my mom to join me. We made banana chocolate chip muffins, green meatballs, chicken parmesan meatballs, and trays of a chicken tortilla casserole. Everything went in the freezer with cooking instructions, for use at a later date. I still have to make breakfast burritos but I’m getting there.

Just for fun, Luna went into an insane shed. The weather is good for that sort of thing. I took time to give the pugs a big de-shedding bath, and washed all their bedding. They were happy. I was exhausted.
Saturday
- Cardio: 5.70 miles, walking
It was a an early morning. Winter guard had its season championships and I had to drop A off at 4AM to catch his ride. I thought about hooking up with a local race since I was awake, but it was sold out. Instead, I brought the pugs to bed with me for optimal cuddle time.
When I got up, I took myself for a walk, but saved some miles for client walks later in the day.

Thoughts + Goals
Ok. I was too busy for the gym. I’m so sad to say that, but it just didn’t work with the schedule. Mr PugRunner was out of town. A had places to be. Things don’t always work out.
Today, I’ll be registering for a race the morning of, and then running it. I’ve never done this before so I’m a little nervous about the process, but it should work out.
And that’s all I have to report. Let’s hear it for April.

Wow congrats on 500 days of streaking! Impressive. I am all for finding things to be happy about and looks like you have a lot of them. Have a great week ahead
I’m really trying to stay positive!
Congrats on your streak!
I’ve been avoiding The Women — I’ve heard it’s intense.
There’s one race around here you can do same-day, but most you have to register a week before. I do miss that spontaneity!
Coco recently posted…Marching Out Like A Lamb
It was intense, but I was able to manage it a little better than others. Based on our book club response, it seemed to depend on the age of the reader, and if they had family who served in Vietnam. It was excellent and moved very quickly, though.
We have a few super popular races that do sell out, but in fairness, I never wait that long. I know better next year.
You had a busy week! I especially love that you did lots of cooking to freeze for future use.
I hope you have a great race today!
It was an incredibly productive cooking day. I love that when we are busy, we can just grab something. I’m cooking off chicken for A’s lunches this week, and I’ll work on the burritos this morning.
I love the positive attitude! This time of year, I always have an impending sense of doom about summer coming up. But, your way is better. We should appreciate the sunshine and longer days! It’s also so much easier when the kids are out of school. So, there are good things ahead.
I hope your race went well! Looking forward to a recap.
I’m trying to be positive but it’s a bit forced. I’ll get there.
It was a good race – some issues, but I was there for the cause.
Looks like it was a good week for you! When you said Luna went into an ‘insane shed’ this week, I read it wrong and thought it was some kind of treatment for dog behavior, lol! Then I kept reading, and the light bulb went off. lol. I didn’t realize that pugs shed so much. Cocoa doesn’t shed much, which is nice. She just requires professional grooming, which gets $$$. But it’s worth it!
I hope your race went well!
So true story – Luna probably does need an insane shed. She’s a moody, witchy girl, especially when the weather isn’t great lol. Pugs have double and sometimes triple coats and they are among the sheddiest breeds. She was so uncomfortable and I felt so bad for her. They don’t need grooming (and they can’t be clipped), but I do have their nails professionally cut because Luna screams and fights, and Leonidas thrashes. They are menaces.
It was humid but I had a good time.
I hope the race registration, and race, went well today! Good job getting that 8 miler done especially after a social night. 500 days is big deal. Congrats!
Nice job on those 500 days! Focusing on the positive(s) is such a healthy mindset. I’m a strong believer in that we experience what we seek 🙂
Nice that you’re getting back to longer distances! I know it’s hard to stay positive when things are rough but I think it’s a good attitude to have and at least in my experience, if we focus on the good things we generally feel better. I hope April treats you well.
500 days… how impressive.
and what a busy week.
I love the idea of batch cooking.
Well done this week!
I had no idea pugs shed that much! Vizslas are pretty easy grooming wise, though apparently some of them do shed more than ours ever have.
I hope you had a fun time at the race for a good cause!
