Welp, I’m a little grounded. Fortunately, I’m not injured, but I’m not at 100% either. It’s never fun when you get derailed, so I’m on the crankier side, but trying to stay positive.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.57 miles, walking
Can we talk about exhausted? After a long day of driving up and down the state, and worrying about a sick husband, I was so glad to get a little bit of rest. And also, to get a walk.

In the meantime, the band was absolutely living their best life with a trip to Busch Gardens. They’ve done Universal the last two years so this was something different!

It was still great to see them when they got home late that night.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.31 miles, running + .40 miles, walking
Happy Monday. The day started strong with a nice run. It felt so good to be out there.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 7.26 miles, running
Another day, another run. And joy! It was cooler out!

Mr PugRunner and I went to a nearby pizza place for Yelp, and then got custard after. I love a quick date night.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.84 miles, walking
I woke up at 4AM with huge plans. I had to take Mr PugRunner to the airport, and then I thought I would stay up in Jacksonville to get in a run in a different area. However, when I looked in the mirror, I saw that I had burst capillaries in my eye! At first, I panicked, but then I remembered that the pugs were wrestling and collided with my face, and then I had a particularly violent sneezing fit due to pollen. It all made sense.
However, I didn’t want to be far from home, so after I dropped Mr PugRunner, I made my way back to the house and took a chill walk.

The pugs benefitted with a nice walk.
I tried to just stay clam and chill for the rest of the day. I had a lot of work going on, but other than that, nothing exciting.
Thursday
- Cardio: 5.35 miles, walking
The good news is that my eye didn’t look any worse, but it also didn’t look much better. I phoned in that walk and also did some deep breathing in the back yard. It’s not the same and I hated every second of it.

The rest of the day was dedicated to doing some cleaning and lots of working.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.5 miles, walking
Once again, another run day turned walk day. Boo.

Happy National Pet Day, too! The pugs had a blast snoozing, and they even got their Bark Box delivery!

Later that night, I got to brave a nasty storm to pick up Mr PugRunner from the airport. The lightning was absolutely insane. There were reports of hail, but it seemed to miss us. Fortunately, he landed on time and safely, and we got home before 9PM.
Saturday
- Cardio: 6.1 miles, walking
I am glad to be saying goodbye to the week. Honestly. It’s been a lot. Of course, we can’t say goodbye without moving our bodies in a morning walk.

After breakfast, I packed up my things for my next sitting gig. I have one furry client, but also made a new friend! It’s an awful photo but I was stunned to see this beauty out and about mid morning, on a residential sidewalk!

In the evening, A had his senior photos. Oh, my heart. I can’t wait to see the final results, but I know they are going to be wonderful.
Thoughts + Goals
Friends, I’m just tired this week. I imagine I’m not alone, but constantly rolling with all the punches is an exhausting thing.
Because of my eye, I’ve slowed down quite a bit. It’s working because it’s healing up nicely, but I don’t want to do anything else to make it worse.
Up ahead this week is more time with one of my favorite clients, and a four day work week because of the Easter holiday. We are going to have a very chill and laid back day, but it will be nice to see my parents.

Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Yes, I have had burst capillaries in my eye! It was a long time ago and I can’t actually remember what caused it. A violent sneezing fit sounds like it could do it. It’ll heal up, but I know it’s annoying to have your plans for the week derailed.
Angie was actually at Universal this week with her band! Busch Gardens is a LONG way from you guys. Florida is such a long state- driving from one end to the other can take a whole day. Glad the kids had fun!
Hope you eye heals up so you can get back on track this week!
They’ve had two years of Universal so this was a nice change for them. BG was far… but they were at the IGNITE festival in St. Pete, so it worked out. Not so much for me, since I had to make the trek in a day, but they were amazing on stage.
Sometimes your body forces you to take a break one way or another. I’m glad it’s nothing serious and is getting better. Hopefully you will feel rested and ready to dive back into your usual routine soon.

So annoying!
But yes. I am paying attention.
Oh my goodness – eye injuries/conditions make me so uneasy. I’m glad you’re doing okay, but yes, sounds like a sign to take it easy. Hopefully you’ll recover fast and feel even better!
SAME! The minute I see anything in anyone’s eye I’m like “IS THAT PINKEYE???” and then I hightail it out of there. It doesn’t hurt and my vision is fine, but it’s so yucky looking.
Years ago one of my clients showed up at the gym with the entire white of her eye bright red (zero white could be seen). Does yours look like that? If so, I can imagine how terrifying it must seems. Hers cleared up within a couple of weeks; hopes yours does as well.
I know you must be excited to see A’s senior pictures. Fun times!
It’s close. Fortunately, it was the bottom left corner (of my left eye) so I didn’t even notice it right away. There’s already marked improvement, although I’m sure it will take some time to heal completely.
What I saw out of the back of camera were great! He didn’t really care about them, and my friend needed some portfolio building shots, so it worked out. I’m going to supplement this session with some I take of him at the school in his cap and gown and band uniform by the field and the giant mascot statues, so it will all work out.
So sorry for the eye issues! I guess it’s just a matter of time before that gets better, so some downtime is required. The band trip does look like a great time. Our band does get to go to Cedar Point in the summer but not many spring trips! Senior pictures, so exciting indeed!!
It’s already improving, but it still looks nasty and I’m super self-conscious about it.
The pictures went well and I can’t wait to see the gallery!
The marching band gets the “fun” trip is the fall, and then wind ensemble gets the theme park in spring… or at least that’s how it’s been. We have Indianapolis in November, and then who know where they will go next spring, but this was nice for them.
I hope your eyes are better. Never had that. But I had black yes from a cut on my head.
Hope you get to slow down this week.
Honestly, it doesn’t hurt and my vision is fine, but it’s nasty looking and I hate it.
I am currently enjoying a dog sitting job for one of my lovelier clients, so all is going quite nicely.
Sounds smart to take it easy and let yourself heal. Although we all think we are invincible, we really are not. Even super heroes and professional athletes value rest. Hope this week goes better for you
Hmph. It’s my least favorite thing.
Ugh, so sorry about the eye! I’ve never had anything like that but I’ve had styes, and it’s awful! Good that you’ve taken time for some rest and easier movement. Hope you heal up quickly.
It’s so gross. It doesn’t hurt and it’s not affecting my vision but it looks nasty! Styes are no fun, either, but I don’t tend to get those.
Oh no…your eye situation sounds very painful and scary! I’ve never had that happen (knock wood!), and I’m quite thankful. I hope this next weeks plays a little nicer for you.
I’m sorry you had such a tough week, but A DEER!! There’s nothing better. Hang in there Jenn, things will get better.
THERE WERE SO MANY DEER! AND A BABY! These were brazen deer, too. They were right up in people’s front gardens, having a little snack. I would have been thrilled, but I”m sure the homeowners are less than pleased. What do I get in my front garden? A four foot long red rat snack. IT’S NOT THE SAME.
Sorry to hear about your eye, that sounds scary. You’ve done the right thing, dialling things back. I am doing three times a week in the gym and the physio is OK with me walking longer again now so I feel like I might have my Achilles rehabbed soon and be back to actual running … Good to be able to move and stretch (not the Achilles!) at least, though.
I’m ok thank goodness. It looked way worse than it was. And once I convinced myself it wasn’t a heart attack or a stroke, I was much better. I really hope you are back out there soon for the running. You’ve been down a while!
